tho various services which those brethren hnd rendered to the Lodge , and exhorted the brethren to emulate their example . The Past Masters responded , Bro . Magrath mentioned how , when he joined the Lodge , it was his ambition to reach the chair , then to see the Lodge in a prsition to compare favourably with any other Lodge at the East End of London , or , in fact , any part of London

and lastly that he might live to initiate his only son into the same Lodge . He had now gained the height of his ambits- , having per . formed the latter ceremony that evening . Bro . LODGE OF ISRAEL , No . 1502 . ON Monday , at the Masonio Temple , Hope-street , Liverpool , Bro . W . W . Mellor was re-instaUea as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year . Having been installed by Bros . Tobias and Kirkpatriok for the second year in succession Bro . Mellor proceeded with the

investiture of his Officers . ELLIOT LODGE , No . 1567 . ipHE installation meeting was held at tbe Railway Hotel , Feltham , J . on the 4 th inst ., when there were present a large number of brethren of the Lodge , and no fewer than thirty-four visitors , in .

eluding the Secretaries of tho threo Charities . The W . M ., Brother H , Dockrill , performed the installation ceremony in his best style , Bro . John Mason , the Collector of the Benevolent Institution , being installed .

A special feature was the presentation of a new chair for the W . M . by Bro . E . T . Taylor P . M . The Officers for the year wero invested . The retiring W . M . , Bro . H . Dockrill , was presented with tho P . M . 's jewel voted to him at tho previous meeting .

An excellent banquet was provided by Bro . H . P . Harris . The menu waa unique , a booklet of old-fashioned cream paper with rough but gilded edges , containing sprightley jokes , and as evory dish to be

served had its name concealed in an anagram , the brethren had occupation and amusement in ascertaining what was to be Eet before them . As an examplo " Sweetbreads and mushrooms" appeared as " Ma stewed brooms and rushes . "

After the banquet the usual Loyal and Masonic toasti were honoured . In proposing tho W . M ., Bro . T . J . Bird said that tho wholo of the brethren were delighted at tho opportunity presented by the 100 th meeting of the Lodge to re-elect Bro . John Mason , the Founder and

first Master , to the office of Worshipful Ma 3 ter , and as ho started the first century of meetings 18 years ago , and had beon spared to start the second that night , so he hoped he would bo spared to start the third , a sentiment in which tho assembled bretb 'en heartily joined .

The W . M . resrDoded feelingly and to tho point . The toast list was furnished with quaint quotations applicable tj such , and the evening wa 3 enlivened with mnaic , in which Miaa 3 Iinm ' e Bird , and Bros . Brookor , Thompson , Bayne , & o ,, acquitted themselves with credit .

T . Churchill P . P . A . D . C . The Officers were duly invested . Ultimately tho members of tho Lodge adjourned to the Esplanade Hotel , where a sumptuous banquet was provided . Afterwards tbe usual toast 3 wore proposed and duly honoured .

KIRKDALE LODGE , No . 1756 . ON Wednesday , 22 nd inst ., at the Skelmeradale Masonic Hall , Westminster Road , Liverpool , Bro . John Macanlay waB duly installed as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being performed by Bro . John Milne , hia predecessor in the chair . There were up . wards of one hundred and thirty members of the Lodge and visiting brethren . Having been duly installed , Bro . Macaulay proceeded to

invest hia Officers for the year . Bro . John Milne I . P . M . D . C . was appointed as Charity Representative . The brethren subsequently partook of the annual installation banquet , admirably served by Messrs . Gait and Capper . Oxy . hydrogen limelight effects were displayed during the postprandial

proceedings by Bro . John A . Gee J . S , An enjoyable programme of music and recitations was contributed . to by Brothers W . Griffiths , W . Lewis , W . E . Williams , John Lane , H . A . Dunn , H . E . Hollis , and Henry Hallard , the latter being highly successfnl with his Lancashire

sketohes . Bro . E . A . Pugh was an efficient accompanist . Daring the evening the retiring W . M . was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel and clothing , and also with a handsome liqneur cellarette .

MACHEN LODGE , No . 1782 . ON Tuesday , 14 th inst ., the members celebratod their fifteenth anniversary at the Swan Hotel , Coleshill , a goodly number of visitors attending , most of thorn being friends of the W . M . elect , Bro . George Shread I . P . M . of St . James ' s Lodge , Handswortb . The ceremony was efficiently performed by Bro . Coles I . P . M . ( who had been

elected to tbe ohair two years in succession ) , assisted by Bro . Lee , an old Provincial Officer . The newly installed Master appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year . A gratifying incident in the proceedings waa the presentation of a handsome jewel , whioh bore the following inscription : —

Neech , who is one of tha founders and tho oldest Past Master of the Lo'lgo , wns presented by Bro . Thomas Clarke W . M . with a handsome Pati Master's jewel , aa a token of respect by the brethren for hie many years' service .

Bro . T . W . Neech is also a member of the RobinEoa Lodge , Maid * stone , aud a Past Principal of the Belvedere Chapter , No . 503 , held at Maidstone , and Present Assistant Director of Ceremonies in the Grand Chapter of the Province of Kent .
