the ceremonies were conducted with au impressiveucss ancl finish which betokened careful study aud rehearsal ou the part of tho Officers concerned in them , ancl which , at a later period of the evening , called forth the highest eulogiums from the visiting brethren . On the motion of Bro . Finch P . G . D . C , seconded by Bro . Collier S . W ., two questions were referred to the General Purposes Committee of the Lodge for

consideration ancl report , viz ., tho desirability of having a paid Secretary of the Lodge , and au increase iu the annual subscription , the Committee ' s report to bo included in the next Locige summons . Hearty good wishes having been expressed by the Visitors , the Lodge was closed , ancl a couple ot hours afterwards spent in a most enjoyable manner at tho festive board , the performances of the Lodge choir enhancing the pleasures of the evening to no inconsiderable extent .

ancl social principles of tho degree . That his remarks aro just , and that such qualities are recognised in the highest quarter , the great number of Present and Past Grand Officers amongst its members bears ample testimony . bard , and James Stevens wore called into requisition , and materially increased tho enjoyment of a gathering which demonstrated that the Lodge still retains its original prestige . Tho company separated at an early hour , delighted with their Masonic work and subsequent entertainment .

for Mr . Benjamin Joshua Grimes , proposed by tho W . M ., seconded by Bro . Miller W . S . ; and for Mr . Henry Richard Yates , proposed by Bro . J . Miller W . S ., seconded by Bro . J . Newton P . M . The result was favourable , and the threo gentlemen were introduced , and initiated into tho mysteries of Freemasonry iu a very satisfactory aud deeply impressive manner , reflecting credit on each ancl every Officer

who took part in tho proceedings . A notice of motion that would mnko a formal procedure of what had hitherto been accepted by tho members as a matter of custom was then discussed , ancl it was unanimously agreed that an addition should be made to the bye-laws of the Lodgo which would embody the sentiments of thoso who deemed it necessary to bring this matter forward . Webb , announced that he had undertaken a Stewardship for the noxt Festival of the Royal Blasonic Benevolent Institution , and the mem . bers unanimously voted a sum of £ 10 10 s for his list , which corapliment Bro . Webb suitably acknowledged , and assured tho brethren he felt they would individually extend to him tho namo liberal support which had always characterised thoir Lodge . Routine work followed ,

and the appeal of a distressed brother was discussed , with the conelusion that it was a case the members could not entertain . Lodge was then closed . The brethren and their visitors now partook of a well-served banquet , where tho proceedings were characterised by a hearty spirit of enjoyment throughout . Tho W . M ., in introducing tho toasts , adopted commendable brevity , and the several replies

were well considered ancl direct to tho point . Bro . Buss replied for the Grand Oft ' iccrs . Ho thought wo hail tbo right men in tho right place . Ho was pleased to bo present iu the Sincerity Lodge , where he was always sure to meet mairy very old friends , aud where he always felt ho was a welcome guest . Our gonial Bro . Buss took a retrospective glance ; this was the first Lodge he had ever visited , now somo

thirty-three or thirty-four years back . One Capt . Oman was then a shining light in tho Lodge , and to this worthy Mason he ( Bro . Buss ) was indebted for some early lessons . Tho Sincerity Lodge had ever been consistent , supporters of tho Institutions , ancl he was sure tho appeal tho Senior Warden had made that evening would receive tho consideration it deserved . Tho next toast was tho health of the

initiates , Bro . Seddon expressing tho hope that they would make good and reputable members of the Order . After a cornet solo by Bro . Davy , of the Islington Lodge , Bro . Gay ton thanked the W . M . for the very kind way in which he had spoken ; ho would endeavour , to the utmost of his ability , to advance tho Order and to merit tho good opinion of the members . Tho other initiates also tendered their

thanks , and then Bro . I . P . M . Appleby proposed the health of the W . M . This compliment was briefly but heartily acknowledged , and then came tho toast of tho Visitors , which elicited replies from Bros . Hill , Veal , Morgan , and other . ' * . The other toasts comprised Prosperity to tlio Masonic Char . tios , replied to by Bro . Webb ; too Past

Masters , Bro . Appleby responding ; the Oflicers . for whom Bro . Webb replied . A special tt ' . aal . was made on behalf of Bro . Hill , who is about to leave this country , and this was acknowledged by Bro . Hill , who stated that on his return to his native laud he hoped a . gain to havo the pleasure of meeting the members of Sincerity . Tho Tyler then gave hia toast , and his "song , " after which the brethren separated .
