ROYAL MASONIC BENEVOLENTS INSTITUTION .

THE annual meeting of the Institution for Aged Freemasons and Widows of Freemasons was held on . Friday of last week , at the Freemasons' Tavern , London , under the presidency of Bro . J . A . Farnfield P . A . G . D . C . Patron and Treasurer of the Institution .

The annual report of the Committee of Management , which was read by Bro . James Terry P . G . S . B . Secretary , among other things stated that the amount of subscriptions at the fifty-ninth Annual Festival on . 27 th February last ,

when the Earl of Warwick Deputy Grand Master presided , was £ 25 , 930 , a sum more than £ 4 , 000 larger than had ever before been contributed in any one year , with the exception of the Jubilee year , 1892 . The report also stated that the amount paid tx > Annuitants last year was £ 17 , 016 .

On . the motion of Bro . C . E . Keyser P . G . D ., seconded by Bro . H . Lovegrove P . G . S . B ., Bro . J . A . Farnfield was again elected Treasurer .

The Audit and Managing Committee were afterwards elected , and Bro . James Stephens P . D . G . D . C . was elected a Trustee of the Sustentation Fund , in place of Bro . Thos . Fenn P . G . W . deceased .

The election of twenty-two aged Brethren and seventeen Widows , the former to annuities of £ 40 each and the latter of £ 32 each , was then proceeded with , the list of those successful being given in our advertisement pages .

The Fund started some time since as a memorial to the late Bro . Walter Martin , whose death at an early age was so generally regretted , has resulted so successfully as to allow of the investment of an amount sufficient to provide a permanent annual income of £ 3 10 s , which jt has been

decided shall be given each year to the fourth highest among the unsuccessful Male candidates of this Institution . As there was an odd amount to be disposed of this year the fortunate recipient received £ 5 4 s 8 d .

The following' is a list of the unsuccessful candidates , with the number of votes recorded on behalf of each , the figures being corrected since the announcement made at the time of the election , as the result of the scrutiny then arranged for :

A CONTRACT has been entered into for the erection of a new Public Hall for Dulwich , on a site in Grove Vale , East Dulwich , and building operations have commenced . The

building , which will include large and small Halls , Masonic Temple , Club Rooms , & c , is to be completed in time for the coming winter season , commencing in November . The plans have been passed and approved by the London County

Council , and a provisional music and dancing license granted . The Hall ( to be called the New Imperial Hall ) will , without doubt , meet a long felt want in this rising suburb . The projected L . C . C . electric trams from all the Bridges and the Old Kent Road to Forest Hill , & c , will pass the doors ,
