Brown . All formalities complied with , Bro . Bull was raised to the degree of M . M . The first , second , and third sections of tho lecture wero worked by Bro . Dickins . Tho Lodge was resumed to fche first degree , and Bro . Baker was unanimously elected W . M . for ensuing week , aud appointed his Officers in rotation . Confidence Lodge of Instruction , No . 193 . —Through inadvertence a report of the meeting of this Lodge which was held on Wednesday , the 15 th instant , at the Railway Tavern , London-street , E . G ., did not reach us . Ou that occasion , Bro . Walker presided , and worked the ceremony of the third degree . Bro . Walker is an old and experienced hand , and

as a matter of course his duties were most creditably performed . At the meeting on Wednesday , the 22 nd instant , Bro . T . W . C . Bush was W . M ., Biddle S . w ! , "Walker J . W ., A . Moss S . D ., Fells I . G ., Gottheil P . M ., J . K . Pitt Sec , Anderson candidate . This being what is termed au optional night , Bro . Bnsh announced his intention to rehearse the first and second ceremonies . In a former report ,

when remarking upon the proceedings of this Lodge under the presidency of the same brother , we pointed to the excellent qualities that he then displayed , and stated that if properly directed , thoy could nofc fail to develop into efficiency j at the same time , continual and close practice was recommended . This advice must surely have been , followed ; for although to bo strictly truthful , it must be said , that his work still lacks the smoothness and

polish of the raasterly hand , still the improvement ; was very marked and perceptible . An apt pupil of this kind must be most encouraging to the instructor under whose tuition Bro . Bush is progressing so favourably , aud calculated to stimulate hirn to continue his laudable exertions . The Lodge intends to continue its regular meetings throughout the summer months . On tie next occasion Bro . Biddle will preside , and he intends again to rehearse the ceremonies of the first aud second degrees .

Coombes read tho minutes of the last mooting , which dnly received confirmation . Bro . Smith , a candidate for tho third degree , was then examined , and this resulting satisfactorily , he was raised in a most impressive manner by the W . M ., Bro .

Holliday . Matters in connection with tho Lodge were then discasscd , and it was proposed , seconded and carried , that a vote of condolence be sent to the widow of the late Bro . Little . The banquet was served afc the Ram Inn , and a capital repast was done amplo justice to . The W . M . gave tho rontine Loyal and Masonic toasts . In replying to tho health of tho Prnv . G M . and Prov . G . Officers , tho Secretary , Bro .

Coombes P . P . G . S . B ., informed tho brethren he had just received the appointment of Quartermaster of tho 50 th Brigade Depot . Wc congratulate Bro Coombes on this appointment , which carries with it Her Majesty ' s commission , and enables our worthy brother to rank with officers in the regular army ; wo trust he may yot find time to fulfil tho duties he has hitherto so ably carried out with such advantage

to the Royal Union Lodgo , and in so eminently satisfactory a way to tho brethren . The I . P . M ., Bro . Swallow , was most happy in proposing tho health of fcho W . M ., and tho compliment was briefly acknowledged by Bro . Holliday . After somo other toasts the brethren separated . Bros . Stevens and Poore for the formation of a Chapter of Instruction at Brixton , to work under the title of" Panmure 720 . " A P . Z . jewel was presented to the retiring M . E . Z . Ex-Comp . Bridges . The audit report and balance sheet was read , and disclosed a satisfactory result . After notice of motion for alteration of one of tho

bye-laws the Chapter was closed in ancient form , and the Companions dined together . During a mosfc agreeable evening , tho customary Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured . The Visitors expressed their great gratification with the proceedings generally , and all present vied with each other in promoting social harmony and good fellowship . This Chapter may certainly add one more to its undis . turbed score of successful installation meetings .

The audit report and balance sheet was read , and disclosed a satisfactory result . After notice of motion for alteration of one of tho

bye-laws the Chapter was closed in ancient form , and the Companions dined together . During a mosfc agreeable evening , tho customary Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured . The Visitors expressed their great gratification with the proceedings generally , and all present vied with each other in promoting social harmony and good fellowship . This Chapter may certainly add one more to its undis . turbed score of successful installation meetings .
