manner . Bro . Isaacson was elected a member , and Bro . George Weaver was , unanimously elected W . M . for next Tuesday . The annual supper will take place on Tuesday , the 12 th of May .

A notice of motion was given by Bro . A . Clark P . M . A vote of sympathy was passed to Bro . Dr . Peter Gowland , wishing him a speedy recovery from his illness .

EMullins Secretary , Hills , Stewart , Morse , Johnson , Plant , Upton . Lodge was opened , called off , resumed , and then opened in the second degree .

Bro . Upton answered the questions leading to the third degree , and was entrusted . Lodge was opened in the third degree . Bro . Plant worked the first section of the lecture , assisted by the Brethren . The ceremony of raising was rehearsed , Bro . Upton candidate . Bro . Lane worked the second section of the second lecture , assisted by the Brethren .

Brother Lane was unanimously elected to occupy the chair the first Tuesday in May .

M . then entered the chair , and rehearsed the ceremony of installation , delivering the addresses in a very praiseworthy manner . Bro . David Romain W . M .-elect of the Bishopsgate Lodge was then installed into the chair and rehearsed the ceremony of investiture of Officers . The first section of the first lecture was worked by Bros . Dunstan and Clark , assisted by the Brethren .

Bro . J . Howard , of the Bishopsgate Lodge , was elected a member , and Bro . Matthews W . M . for next meeting . A vote of thanks was proposed by Bro . Romain to Bro . Dunstan , for his excellent rendering of the installation ceremony .

GRAND MASTERS LODGE OF INSTRUCTION . THE annual festival of this Lodge of Instruction in the Mark degree was held on Wednesday evening , at Mark Mason ' s Hall , when the ceremony of advancement was worked , Bro . William Vincent acting as W . M ., J . Reynolds Green S . W ., C J . Knightley J . W ., J . S . Tamburini M . O ., H . Sadler S . O ., G . J . Thomas J . O ., Rev . V . P . Wyatt Chaplain , 0 . F . Bro . John Smith W . M . 106 , of Bedford , gave the lecture of the degree , and the whole of the work was most admirably performed . A choice banquet followed at Freemasons' Tavern , the Earl of Euston Pro G . M . presiding , in place of Sir Reginald Hanson , who had gone abroad for the benefit of his health .

The usual toasts followed , in the speeches on which the great progress of the degree was much dwelt upon , as well as the great services of the Grand Masters Lodge of Instruction . Bro . John Smith See . stated that the Lodge met twelve weeks in each

year ; that in 1892-3 the attendances were 234 , and the joining members 25 , in 1893-4 301 and 30 , in 1894-5 256 and 15 , and in 1895-6 308 and 35 , so that with the exception of the year 1894-5 there would he an increase each year . This he thought was highly satisfactory , an opinion which was generally endorsed .

ST . JOHN LODGE , No . 28 . THE annual meeting and installation of St . John Lodge , attached to the Langley Lodge of Mark Masons , took place on Wednesday , 15 th inst ., at the new Masonic Temple , Guildford Street , Cardiff . A large number of Mark Masons attended from several Lodges in the Province . The Worshipful

Commander-elect Bro . William Dobbs was duly enthroned , according to ancient custom , by Com . John Sheridan P . P . G . S . W ., who , on behalf of the Brethren , presented to the retiring Com . Bro . Henry Fraser a very handsome Past Commander ' s jewel , in recognition of the valuable services he had rendered the Lodge during the two years he had presided in the chair of it .
