THE annual festival of this Lodge of Instruction in the Mark degree was held on Wednesday evening , at Mark Mason ' s Hall , when the ceremony of advancement was worked , Bro . Bro . John Smith W . M . 106 , of Bedford , gave the lecture of the degree , and the whole of the work was most admirably performed . A choice banquet followed at Freemasons' Tavern , the Earl of Euston Pro G . M . presiding , in place of Sir Reginald Hanson , who had gone abroad for the benefit of his health .
The usual toasts followed , in the speeches on which the great progress of the degree was much dwelt upon , as well as the great services of the Grand Masters Lodge of Instruction . Bro . John Smith See . stated that the Lodge met twelve weeks in each
year ; that in 1892-3 the attendances were 234 , and the joining members 25 , in 1893-4 301 and 30 , in 1894-5 256 and 15 , and in 1895-6 308 and 35 , so that with the exception of the year 1894-5 there would he an increase each year . This he thought was highly satisfactory , an opinion which was generally endorsed .

Bro . Henry Fraser a very handsome Past Commander ' s jewel , in recognition of the valuable services he had rendered the Lodge during the two years he had presided in the chair of it .
