, degree . The ceremony of installation was then proceeded with . Bro . De Cusseres having been elected by the brethren as the new W . M ., was brought before the Lodge and signified hia assent to the customary questions . Aboard of Installed Masters was then formed , and Bro . De Cassere ** waa inducted into the chair . The following Officers were then appointed and invested : —Fox S . W ., Jacobs J . W .,

Eschwege S . D ., Cohen J . D ., Shnter I . G ., Harris Dir . of Cera ., M . D'Acosta and Corpor Stewards , Musto P . M . Treasurer , Friedeberg P . M . Secretary , and Young Tyler . The Lodge jewel was voted to Bro . B . D'Acosta on his appointment as I . P . M ., and au additional handsome jewel waa presented to him by several brethren to mark their recognition of his services as W . M . during the past twelve months .

The report of the auditors was received , showing a substantial balance , aud a sum of two guineas was voted towards the Building Fund of the new wing of the Royal Free Hospital , of whioh institution the Earl of Lathom is Chairman . The brethren afterwards adjourned to the banquet-room , where a recherche repast was served . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts being disposed of , Bro . D'Acoata proposed

the health of tho new W . M ., in eulogistic terms , and remarked tbat the Lodge would be proud of him , as he was a most admirable worker of the ritual . The W . M . in reply said there were certain times in a man ' s life when he might be pardoned for being proud , and ho could not help feeling proud at beinc ; placed iu the enviable position of Master of the Friars' Lodge . Ho should lely upon his

Officers and the brethren generally to make his year of office a success . He would endeavour to do his duty faithfully , and trusted that when he laid down the gavel at the termination of the twelve months , tho brethren would have no fault ' . •¦ find with any action of his . Friars' Lodge . Ho bad left tho chair iu a most prosperous state , with tho largest balance ever handed over . With regard to the work , he was a host in himself , nnd in consequence of his talent was an honorary member of nearly half tho London Lodges of Instruction . Bro . D'Acosta in returning thanks hoped to continue to deserve all the good wishes bestowed upon him , and would always be glad to work for the Friars' Lodge . He thanked the brethren for both the

jewels , whioh he shonld cherish all his life , and leave as heirlooms to his family . Bro . Friedeberg P . M ., in a neat speech , proposed " Tho Visitors , " whioh was acknowledged by Bros . Oxley , Scott , Cooper , and Cavendish . The remaining tcasta were " The Past Masters , " coupled with tbe name of Bro . Musto , "The Officers , " and the Tyler ' s toast . The harmony of the evening was further promoted by some excellent songs , given by Bros . Maloney , Fox , Woolf , Hart , Hentchel , Marks , and Harris , Bro . Bellman officiating at tho piano .

M . 317 ( FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE ) , and Antonio Organist 581 . Tho brethren met at 7 * 45 , to tea , after whioh the Lodge was opened in due form ,

and the minutes of tho previous meeting read and confirmed . There being no ceremonies to perform , the Lodge was raised to the third degree , and Bro . Burslem P . M and Treasurer related the traditional history to the Broa . Johnson , after which the Lodgo was closed in peace and harmony , at 8 * 20 . At the social board the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured , and Broa . Antonie , Lisenden , and Langshaw gave a selection of songs , recitations , & c , whioh were much appreciated .

locket the Lodge had voted to Bro . Room , who wis compelled by the pressure of his many Masonic duties to resign the post of Treasurer of the Hammersmith Lodge . Bro . Room thankel the brethren for their handsome present , and said it only confirmed what he had often repeated that Maaona were the most grateful of any body of men , in that they nrignifisd any little aofc of assistance

into something worthy of notice , while other people would pass it by , and think nothing of it . The bill of fare was a fine specimen of the printer ' s art , the cover was adorned with a wellexecuted reproduction of the ancient merchants' seal of the borough

of Wigan , which was in use in the early part of the fifteenth century , and the selection of quotations , which accompanied each course , was exceedingly felicitous . Tho musical portion of the proceedings included some capital quartettes by Bros . C . Grime , J . G . M'Connell , W . M . M'Connell , and T . Margeson .
