THE installation of Bro . Jamos W . Broad aa Master was performed on Wednesday , the 15 th inst ., at the Freemasons' Hall , Lewes , in the presence of a numerous assemblage of brethren . The ceremony was conducted in au ablo manner by Bro . Smith Scone , to whom a Past Master ' s jewel was presented for his services during the past year . Bro . Brood invested hia Officers , as follow : —

White ( Mayor of Lewes ) , being especially well received . The enjoyment of the evening was considerably added to by some

excellent vo' -disation contributed by Mrs . J . W . Broad , Miss Edith Welling , an . Mr . J . Famcombe , Mr . A . Jackson accompanying . The duties of Stewards were entrusted to Bro . A . Russell and Bro . G . Holman . Several apologies were received at the last moment of guests unable fco attend through indisposition .

THE members held their annual Festival of St . John on Monday , the 20 fch inst ., afc the Craven Arms , Coventry . There waa a large attendance , Bro . Collins D . P . G . A BALL took place under the auspices of this Lodge ou Thursday , tho 16 th inst ., in the Agricultural Hall , Bridgnorth . The walla of the building were draped , and the hall waa converted into aa pleasaut a ball room as could be desired . Emblems of the Order were arranged on the platform—which was tastefully decorated—aud banners and presentation addresses were suspended at intervals

round the room . A full quadrille band , under the direction of Mr . Hudson Davis ( Shrewsbury ) , occupied the recently constructed gallery at the east end of tbe hall . The ball waa in aid of the Royal Masonio Charities , and held under the patronage of Sir Offley Wake , man , Bart ., Lieutenant-Colonel Foster Gough , R . G . Venables , A . F .

Godson , M . P ., W . H . Spaull , Lieutenant-Colonel E . M . Wakeman , the Mayor of Bridgnorth ( Bro . R . C Smith ) , and R . Jasper More , M . P . The list of stewards waa a fully representative one , and comprised brethren from Shrewsbury , Kidderminster , Wolverhampton , Madeley ,

Ludlow , Bresley , Newport , Cleobury North , Stourbridge , Monkhopton , and Bridgnorth . The general arrangements wero under the supervision cf tho honorary secretaries , Bros . T . Whitefoot jun . ( ex-Mayor ) , and Godfrey 0 . Cooper . Bro . C . Ensor ( Crown and Royal Hotel ) was entrusted with the catering for fche company , which numbered about 160 .

ECCLESTON LODGE , No . 1624

ON Wednesday , the 16 th instant , the annual Ladies Banquet and Ball took place at the Criterion Restaurant , Piccadilly , after the ordinary Lodge business , whioh included tho working of all three degrees of Craft Masonry . Bro . E . Grant Hooper , the justly popular and able Worshipful Master of the Lodge , presided , and the other principal Officera present wero Bros . William Weston S . W ., Charles Leo J . W ., Isaac Isaacs Treasurer , Alfred J . Bignold S . D ., and John

Gritta J . D ; Others holding office or prominent in the Lodge were—Bros . Frederick Arnold , William Sanels , George Messenger , Henry Giddings , James Dotterill , Sidney Pope , W . Holland , Chilcotfc , T , Cocks , Delevante , Haylock , Nice , Roberts , Pugh , & c . The prevail , ing epidemic was rospocsible for the non-attendance of some well known brethren and ladies who have been present on former

occasiona , but the number dining closely approximated to 150 , and the arrangements made for the comfort of such a large party reflected tho highest credit on Bro . Bertini , the Criterion Manager . The dinner was every thing that could be wished for , and the splendid salon , in which the dancing took place , was a decided improvemeu on tho large dining-room adjoining ifc , which in former years was

cleared for the purpose . On this occasion it was available as a retiring and refreshment room . After fche banquet , tho Worshipful Master briefly gave a few toasts , announcing that the pre . sencoofso many ladies , enjoined tho necessity of keeping this part of tho programme as short as possible . Speaking of tho Prince of Wales the Grand Master and the other distiugniahed Grand Officer ,

tie Worshipful Master said that but for their efforts Masonry would not occupy the position it now did in England , and nofc merely in England , but all over the world . Tho tonsfc of fcho Worshipful Master , proposed by Bro . Ray , was received with greafc enthusiasm , and other toasts honoured were the Past Masters of the Lodge . Those present being Powell , Jones , Bottle and 0 . Tayler , and tho

Officers . In addition to the response by the Warden and Treasurer , Bro . Beckham , the indefatigable Secretary , also replied . He claimed for Freemasonry a lasting impression of good , and said that the noble Institutions ifc fostered were Charitable asylums of which they were justly proud . The Ladies aud the Visitors given as one toast by the Worshipful Master in

very felicitous terms was duly honoured , and Bro . Holland replied for fche ladies . The other part of the response waa entrusted to Bro . Bond , the visitors present including Bros . George Saunders , Balchin , Alfred Booty , Franks , Woodrow , F . W . Smith , G . Horton , & c . The ball was kept up with unflagging spirit until the early hours of Thursday morning .

ON Wednesday , the 16 th instant , the annual Ladies Banquet and Ball took place at the Criterion Restaurant , Piccadilly , after the ordinary Lodge business , whioh included tho working of all three degrees of Craft Masonry . Bro . E . Grant Hooper , the justly popular and able Worshipful Master of the Lodge , presided , and the other principal Officera present wero Bros . William Weston S . W ., Charles Leo J . W ., Isaac Isaacs Treasurer , Alfred J . Bignold S . D ., and John

Gritta J . D ; Others holding office or prominent in the Lodge were—Bros . Frederick Arnold , William Sanels , George Messenger , Henry Giddings , James Dotterill , Sidney Pope , W . Holland , Chilcotfc , T , Cocks , Delevante , Haylock , Nice , Roberts , Pugh , & c . The prevail , ing epidemic was rospocsible for the non-attendance of some well known brethren and ladies who have been present on former

occasiona , but the number dining closely approximated to 150 , and the arrangements made for the comfort of such a large party reflected tho highest credit on Bro . Bertini , the Criterion Manager . The dinner was every thing that could be wished for , and the splendid salon , in which the dancing took place , was a decided improvemeu on tho large dining-room adjoining ifc , which in former years was

cleared for the purpose . On this occasion it was available as a retiring and refreshment room . After fche banquet , tho Worshipful Master briefly gave a few toasts , announcing that the pre . sencoofso many ladies , enjoined tho necessity of keeping this part of tho programme as short as possible . Speaking of tho Prince of Wales the Grand Master and the other distiugniahed Grand Officer ,

tie Worshipful Master said that but for their efforts Masonry would not occupy the position it now did in England , and nofc merely in England , but all over the world . Tho tonsfc of fcho Worshipful Master , proposed by Bro . Ray , was received with greafc enthusiasm , and other toasts honoured were the Past Masters of the Lodge . Officers . In addition to the response by the Warden and Treasurer , Bro . Beckham , the indefatigable Secretary , also replied . He claimed for Freemasonry a lasting impression of good , and said that the noble Institutions ifc fostered were Charitable asylums of which they were justly proud . very felicitous terms was duly honoured , and Bro . Holland replied for fche ladies . The other part of the response waa entrusted to Bro . Bond , the visitors present including Bros . George Saunders , Balchin , Alfred Booty , Franks , Woodrow , F . W . Smith , G . Horton , & c . The ball was kept up with unflagging spirit until the early hours of Thursday morning .
