Cornishmen in London have decided to co-operate with the authorities of St . Paul ' s with regard to a memorial to the late Brother Professor Shuttleworth . The Committee has appointed Mr . George , Hon . Secretary of the London Cornishmen , and Mr . N . J . West to represent that body ,
and Bros . L . jbarrett and Dr . Curnow will represent the Cornish Lodge of Freemasons at the meeting to be held in the Chapter nouse of St . Paul ' s on the 20 th mst . Already a subscription list has been opened by the Association , and no less than ^ , 500 has been subscribed or promised , for the
most part by Lornish people in the metropolis . It is thought that , considering the position in which Mrs . Shuttleworth and her family ot seven have been left , the greater proportion of Cornish subscriptions should be applied in a more practical manner than the erection of a memorial , but at
present the matter stands somewhat in abeyance . It is to be noted that as yet no general appeal has been made to Cornish people in the county with regard to the list , but
the matter is being heartily taken up by Sir Edwin Durning Lawrence , M . P ., and others , and doubtless the county will have an opportunity to show its appreciation of Professor Shuttleworth's splendid work in London .
