This AVUS the last meeting previous to the summer vacation of tho Lodge , and as a consequence ,

there Avas a largo attendance of members . After discussing several matters of home interest , Lodge was closed , and the brethren partook of a capital banquet , served by Bros . Kittor and Clifford . On the removal of the cloth , the toasts were fully honoured , and a couple of hours were spent in a most enjoyable fashion .

Avere read and confirmed . The ceremonies of initiation and passing were ably rehearsed , Bro . Bryant being candidate . It was resolvethat the ceremony of installation be worked at this Lodge of Instruction on Thursday , 29 th May . Bro . J . H . Thompson P . M . will preside . Bro . Everdell was elected W . M . for following meeting , and the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony .

Royal Alfred Lodge of Instruction , No . 780 . —A meeting was held on Friday , Sth Mav , at the Star and Garter Hotel , Kew Bridge . Bros . Gomm W . M ., H . E . Tucker ( Treas ) S . W ., Botley J . W ., Skinner S . D ., Blasby J . D ., Acworth I . G ., Gunner U . S ., Roe P . M . and Preceptor , Hogg P . M . 1349 , GOAV , Kyezor , Talbot , Costelow , & c After formally opening , the minutes of the three

previous meetings were read and confirmed . The W . M . rehearsed the initiation ceremony with Bro . Costelow as candidate . Bros . P . M . - Hogg and Roe , assisted by the brethren , worked the 1 st and 2 nd sections of the first lecture ; and the brethren Avere then called to refreshment . After a brief interval , labour was resumed , and it was announced that on the second Friday in June ( 13 th ) , at 6 p . m . the

Fifteen Sections would be worked by Bro . Barnes , assisted by well known brethren ; it was also announced that it was through the instrumentality of Bro . Hogg that the kind offices of Bro . Barnes had been secured . A circular will be sent to tho members of tho L of I . ; and wo arc requested to state that tho brethren will be glad to greet , right heartily , any visitors who may see fit to honour them

with their presence on that evening . There are frequent trains on the North London and South Western Railways to Kew Bridge , and the Stnr and Garter is within two minutes' walk of the joint stations . From our own experience of Royal Alfred meetings , we can promise a most delightful evening . Bro . Tucker was elected W . M . for 30 th May .

M . seconded , and the resolution was unanimously carried j two or three individual members added their contributions , which made , with what was already collected , the handsome sum of sixty pounds , which would bo forwarded to our distressed brother by the Treasurer at once . The subject of rent was considered , as to the time it shonld commence ; the Secretary read the draft of lease or agreement , which

contained several clauses not in the former document , and which produced an animated discussion , but with a technical alteration or two it was decided to accept the terms proposed . The W . M . presented each member with a copy of " A Short Account of the Masonio Charities , " compiled by Bro . Charles Oades W . M . of 414 . After proposing a joining member and a gentleman for initiation , the Lodge Avas closed according to ancient form .

M . that the Lord Warden Hotel , Walmer , had changed hands , and a commit too wa ^ ' formed to tako steps to remove the Lodge lo its old quarters , uodge closed in ancient form . The brethreu spent a most pleasant hour together , the usual Loyal nnd Masonic toasts being given and responded to . Bros . Botting , Eraser , Carpenter and Bond kindly entertained the brethren .

M . seconded , and the resolution was unanimously carried j two or three individual members added their contributions , which made , with what was already collected , the handsome sum of sixty pounds , which would bo forwarded to our distressed brother by the Treasurer at once . The subject of rent was considered , as to the time it shonld commence ; the Secretary read the draft of lease or agreement , which

contained several clauses not in the former document , and which produced an animated discussion , but with a technical alteration or two it was decided to accept the terms proposed . The W . M . presented each member with a copy of " A Short Account of the Masonio Charities , " compiled by Bro . Charles Oades W . M . of 414 . After proposing a joining member and a gentleman for initiation , the Lodge Avas closed according to ancient form .
