REPORTS OF MEETINGS .
We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .
CRAFT : METROPOLITAN
CRUSADERS LODGE , No . 1677 . THE regular meeting was held at the Holborn Restaurant , on Wednesday , 21 st inst ., those present including Bros . Alfred W . Humphreys W . M ., Horatio A . Sheppard I . P . M ., Urick B . Ladler S . W ., Albert Tarling J . W ., James John Stockall P . M . Treasurer , Alfred Goode P . M . Sec , Edmund W . Collingridge S . D ., Michael W . Shanley J . D ., Charles W . Deacon I . G ., John Pratt P . M . D . C , Charles Wren A . D . U ., James Speller P . M . Steward , John Robinson Assistant Steward , Arthur Tarling Organist , and others .
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken on behalf of Dr . Thomas Jones , and proving unanimous in his favour he was regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of the Order in a most impressive manner by the W . M . The Lodge being closed in peace and harmony the Brethren adjourned to the Council Chamber , where they were joined by their wives and lady friends at the banquet , the number in all sitting down being 144 .
The usual Loyal toasts having been given , the W . M . proposed that of the Ladies , and said he was very pleased to welcome so many of the fair aex to their annual Ladies Banquet and Social evening . Mrs . R . M . Beacheroffc responded . She said : Worshipful Master , Brethren , and Sisters . She thought that was the right way to start , although she could assure them that no Masonic secrets had been communicated to her . She was glad to find that her sisters had lived down the old saying that
woman was one of nature ' s most agreeable mistakes . She could not think what a Masonic banquet could be like without woman to grace it . What would poor Tommy Atkins do without woman to nurse , cheer and comfort him during the time he was compelled to spend in the hospitals so far from his homo and country ? The French had a saying that woman's tongue was her sword , which she never allowed to rust . For her part she could not see why she should . Those present evidently thought the same , by the very hearty applause they gave her at the close of her eloquent response .
The W . M . then submitted the toast of the visitors . E . H . Tripp , Esq ., J . P ., responded . Each lady was then presented with a very handsome bottle of perfume , after which all adjourned to the Throne Room , where dancing , intermixed with songs , & c , was kept up till 12 o'clock , Bros . Edward Small and Ernest N . Gideon acting as M . C . s . The band was under the direction of Bro . Harry Penney , and the accompanist was B ' .-o . Willie Wright P . M . P . Z . P . P . G . Org , Middlesex .
COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS LODGE , No . 2795 . THE regular meeting was held at the Hotel Cecil , on Saturday , 17 th inst ., when there were present : Bro * . R . A . Tidm & s W . M ., Lt .-Col . R . J . Vincent P . Z . acting I . P . M ., H . O . Budd S . W ., Thomas Elliott J . W ., John Irwin Sec , B . Kench S . D ., C . W . Bailey J . D ., C . H . Simmons I . G ., John M . Maynard D . C , Robinson , Albin , Peckover . The Lodge was opened and the minutes confirmed .
After the usual questions Bros . Coysh , Gibbings , Hanson , Maynard , Coopman , and Enderby were passed . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree , and Mr . Robert Bowman and Mr . Frederick Charles Walker were duly initiated into the mysteries of ancient Freemasonry .
The two ceremonies were rendered in a masterly manner by Bro . R . A . Tidmas . Praise must also be given to all the Officers , who were perfect in their respective duties , thereby ensuring a due effect to the beautiful ritual and a lasting impression upon the candidates . Two candidates for initiation were nominated for acceptance at the next meeting .
The Lodge was then closed , and the Brethren repaired to the banquet room , where an excellent repast was provided and the customary toast list afterwards gone through . The musical portion of the programme was well supported by Bros . Coysh , Cole , Elliott , Gibbons , and Robinson .

CONFIDENCE LODGE , No . 193 . THERE was a , very large attendance at the usual weekly meeting at the Bunch of Grapes on Wednesday evening . Bro . Metcalf-Baillie occupied the chair , and was supported by Bros . Latham S . W ., Simeons J . W ., Spice I . P . M . Preceptor , J . K . Pitt P . M . P . P . G . S . B . Sec , W . Haughton S . D ., Hattersley J . D ., Done I . G ., and others .
Ihe ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Clark being the candidate ; Bro . Green , a candidate for passing , was instructed in the questions leading to the second degree . Lodge was opened in the second degree , when Bro . Baillie vacated the chair in favour of Bro . P . M . Davey Johns candidate for
Bro . , a raising , answered the questions leading on , was entrusted and letired . Lodge was opened in the third degree , the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in a grand and emphatic manner , in ancient and solemn form , Bro . Johns being candidate . The Lodge gave hearty congratulations to the W . M . for his eloquent and able display of Masonic ritual .
Lodge was then closed down , a contribution was voted to a distressed applicant , Bros . Kemp and Osborn wt re elected members ; after which the Brethren and visitors adjourned to a prettily spread table , where they appreciated the efforts of Bro . Goovearts ' s chef with the grill . Next week is Preceptor ' s night , when Bro . Latham will take the chair , and it is probable the ceremony of installation will be rehearsed .

Worth was congratulated on his appointment as Preceptor to the Earls Court Lodge of Instruction . Bro . Barnett received a vote of thanks on his occupying the W . M . ' s chair for the first time in any Lodge of Instruction .

ECLECTIC LODGE , No . 1201 . A MEETING was held on Sunday , 18 th inst ., at the Frascati , Oxford Street , W ., when there were present : Bros . Barclay W . M ., Pringle S . W ., Williams J . W ., May S . D ., Evans J . D ., Adamson I . G ., E . G . Mulvey P . M . Preceptor , Mason Sec , Wall P . M . Deputy Prec , and a large number of other Brethren .
The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , the W . M . performing his duties in a very effective manner . Bio . Willis was candidate . Bro . Hudson was then examined and entrusted , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of passing , in an equally satisfactory manner . Bro . Muzzle , of the Prince Frederick William Lodce , was unanimously elected a member , and Bro . Pringle W . M . for the next meeting .
It was proposed , seconded , and carried , that a letter of condolence and a wreath be sent to Bro . R . J . Harnell Treasurer of the Lodge , on the death of his son , who was also a member of the Lodge . Bro . E . C . Mulvey Preceptor said he had a pleasing duty to perform ,
which was to propose a hearty vote of thanks to the W . M . for fulfilling the duties of the chair for the first time in that Lodge of Instruction . This was carried unanimously . The W . M ., in reply , said that being only a young Mason he had to thank the Preceptor of the Lodge for the painstaking instruction he had received .
The Eclectic Lodge of Instruction meets at the Frascati Restaurant , Oxford Street , W ., every Sunday evening , at seven o ' clock-. The Preceptor is Bro . E . C . Mulvey P . M . Past Grand Pursuivant of England , whose fame as an instructor of Masonic Ritual is so well known , and it is remarkable the number of competent Masttrs who have been turned out under his tuition . It is one of the few Lodges of Instruction held on Sundays , and Brethren who have but little time during the week will find this a great boon should they require Masonic instruction .
NEW CROSS LODGE , No . 1559 . ON Tuesday , at Bro . Lake's , the Kemble ' s Head , Long Acre , Bros . G . Faaz W ' . M ., J . Swash S . W ., L . Lake J . W ., W . Menninger P . M . acting Prec , S . Jacobs S . D ., T . Davis J . D ., J . Sutcliffe I . G . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Sutcliffe acting as candidate . The Lodge was called off and on . The W . M . changed places with the S . W ., who rehearsed the second ceremony , with Bro . Davis as the candidate . Bro . Swash was elected W . M . ' for Tuesday next .
This being the first time we had had the pleasure of seeing Bro . G . Faaz Secretary of the Lodge acting as W . M ., we take tho opportunity of complimenting him on the perfect manner in which he rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , and for the able manner in which he discharged other Masonic duties .
