****************** VITRUVIAN LODGE PRESENTATIONS . ON Saturday evening the annual supper of the Vitruvian Lodge of Instruction , No . 87 , was held at the Duke of Albany , Kitto Road , Nunhcad , when an interesting presentation was made to the Preceptor Bro . Chas . W . Mayo P . M . 1686 and 1541 , and to Bro . James Reynolds Secretary S . D . 87 .

Notwithstanding the dense fog , there were upwards of forty Brethren present . Bro . W . H . Bale P . M . 8 7 presided , the Vice-Chair being occupied by Bro . A . B . Clayton W . M . 16 S 6 . Among others present were Bros . C . W . Mayo P . M . 1686 and 1541 , James Reynolds S . D . 8 7 , W . F . Lamonby P . A . G . D . C . Surrey , R . Gabell P . M . 16 5 S , R . W . Bcnns P . The host , Bro . R . F . Ramsden 87 , provided a cold collation which gave great satisfaction . The tables were prettily arranged , and were rendered very charming in appearance by the tasteful addition of choice chrysanthemums and other flowers . Brothei Richard Tonking Organist Burgoyne Lodge , No . 902 was the accompanist .

After the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts , Bro . Bale P . M . made the presentations . He said the members of the Lodge had desired to take the opportunity of showing some outward indication of the high appreciation they had for the work so admirably carried on by Bros . Mayo and Reynolds . It would be difficult to find Brethren who did their work more thoroughly , and there was an entire absence of favouritism and a cheerful rendering of assistance

that had rightly earned for them the highest respect and affection of every member . Quietly and gently this instruction was given , and it would not be easy to accurately estimate the immense amount of good that had been done in consequence of the work so unostentatiously carried on at this Lodge . He asked them to accept the little presents as an indication of the feeling he had endeavoured to express .

Royal Arch.

I he presents took the form of smoking cabinets , identical in pattern and contents . They are formed of fumed oak , have plate glass doors and oxydised silver repousse fittings , and were filled with cigars , tobacco , pipes , & c , each bearing a suitable inscription on a silver plate .

Bro . Past Master Mayo , in his reply , thanked the Brethren for their very handsome present . He reminded them he . had been Preceptor for twelve years , and he assured them that when the destroying hand of time rendered it impossible for him to continue the work he should look back always with gratification on the many pleasant evenings he had spent in that Lodge of Instruction .

Bro . Reynolds also made a suitable response , assuring the Brethren that his work was a labour of love , and that he heartily thanked them for the most useful and ornamental present . The toast of the visitors was primarily answered by Brother Allister G . Anderson , of St . John Lodge , No . 486 , Fort William , Calcutta . Bros . Elliott , Collins , Maffey , and Tonking also replied .

Bro . A . B . Clayton proposed the toast of the President Bro . Bale P . M . He said Bro . Bale was always most willing in giving assistance in the work of the Lodge when it became necessary ; he did his part as Treasurer most admirably , and the success of that evening was chiefly due to his most active efforts , indeed , the idea of the presentation originated with him . The toast was most enthusiastically received .

Bro . Bale , in his reply , said the Lodge had now 176 members . It was impossible for it to be better officered , and he heartily wished it the continuance of the success it had met with . He concluded by proposing the toast of the Vice-President Bro . A . B . Clayton , saying he was the best Master his Lodge had had for many years . Bro . W . F . Lamonby P . A . G . D . C . proposed the toast of the

Sister Lodges of Instruction , and Bro . J . Ellinger P . M . replied . He congratulated the Brethren upon the very cordial and close feelings of friendship which existed amongst the local Lodges of Instruction , and said the assistance afforded by the Vitruvian Lodge in a case in which they were successful in getting a Brother elected

to one of the Masonic Charities would never be forgotten . Bros . J . Wimble P . M . Preceptor of the Selwyn Lodge , and Joseph Pointon P . M . had particularly desired to be kindly remembered and to express regret that previous engagements of long standing prevented their being present that evening .

1 he toast of Bro . F . W . Dew Secretary of the Presentation Committee was then drank amidst hearty applause , as was also the final toast , the Host and Hostess , to which Bro . R . F . Ramsden suitably responded . During the evening an excellent programme of music was given , Bros . Omash , Bennetts , Clayton , Mr . Bradshaw and others taking part .
