RECTITUDE CHAPTER , No . 581 . rpHE regular meeting was held at the Blosley Hotel , Manchester , on JL Thursday , 7 th inst ., Comp . Hy . B . Brown M . E . Z . There ' was a capital attendance . The principal business of the evening was that of electing Officers for the forthcoming financial year , the following being the result '—Comps . J . C

Nelson Stokes , and incidentally alluded to the fact that the' latter had recently entered the marriage state . - Comp . f Stokes , who , upon rising was cheered to the echo , thanked those present for having received the news in so enthusiastic a manner . that -in taking a partner forlife he had made a step in the right direction ; it seemed to have met with their entire approbation at any rate , and as Comp . Wilson- < had-uttered an earnest hope that he never might—so he as fervently believed , that he never should—regret having joined the community of Benedicts . '

A conclave of'Tnstallfe'd' Principals having 'been formed , ' Comp . Frank Hitchens , who was elected at the previous meeting , was presented , and

regularly inducted into the chair of M . E . Z . of the Chapter . Comp . R . W . Walker P . Z ., assisted ' by Comp . Arthur' Hubbard , acted as'Installing Principal , and performed the ceremony in a very impressive manner ; * Comp . Arthur Ronaldson and Comp . Walker were placed in the chairs of H- find J . respectively , but as they had previously occupied those positions in other Chapters there was no ceremony in their case .

The Auditors' report and balance sheet were received , adopted and entered on the minutes ' . ' The Treasurer referred . tb the excellent financial position of the Chapter , in spite of the fact that they * had '' relieved . 'the ' ' ' necessities of two distressed Companions , " and had giveh ' a liheral'doriation " ^ to the Canterbury Chapter House Bestoration Fund ; ¦¦

A letter of condolence and sympathy was ordered to be sent to Comp . J . P . White , " * -wlib is just recovering from a severe illness ;* and a vote of thanks ' was accorded to Comp . ; Walker for his services as Installing Principal , which" ho' modestly acknowledged . Nothing further offering for the benefit of Arch Masonry the Chapter was duly closed and the convocation adjourned . At the banquet subsequently held , a P . Z . jewel was presented to Comp . B . J . Beale , and the customary complimentary speeches were made .

Br ., tho same being listened to by a large and appreciative audience . Printed copies of the newly-framed Bye-Laws were submitted and duly approved . DUKE OF FIFE CHAPTER , No . 2345 . THE usual convocation was held on Wednesday , 6 th inst ., when the S . E . reported that Comp . B'lunslow S . N . had sailed for South Africa since their last meeting . It was announced that a member would represent the Chapter at the' Boys Festival next year . All business being ended , the Chapter was closed , and the members dined together under the presidency of Comp . Folkard P . Z .

FAREWELL DINNER TO BRO . A . BUCKLE , J . P ., P . M . A FEW friends assembled together at the Carlton Club , Spring Gardens , . Manchester , * on Tuesday evening , 12 th inst ., for a farewell dinner to Bro . A . Buckle , J . P ., P . M . of the Sierra Leone Lodge , previous to his departure home after a visit to England of some months' duration , his principal object being to attend the different Jubilee festivities , notably the ' great Blasonic gathering in the Albert Hall , under the presidency of the Grand Master His Boyal Highness tho Prince of Wales .

Tho chair was taken by Bro . A . T . Forrest P . M . Avon Lodge , No . 1633 ( East Lancashire ) , who , after the Usual loyal toasts had been honoured , proposed the guest of the evening , Bro . A . Bucke , J . P ., alluding to the fact that in returning home to Sierra Leone it would bo the sixteenth time he ' ( Bro . Buckle ) had crossed to and fro .

Bro . Buckle responded , and " spoke of his groat desire to increase'the ' development-of Sierra Loohe , and to further cement the friendship of Great ' Britian with her West African ' colony . A health to our Colonial Empire was proposed by Bro . Bev . W . Challenor " P . G . Chaplain ( E . L . ); and coupled with " this ' was the name of Col . Sir Fredk . Cardew , Governor of Sierra Leone , who had so materially assisted during his r term 0 f office in opening but the railway "frow ' Sieffa"L ' ebrie to the Hinterland . '

The toast was replied' to' by . 0 apta " Yl '' 'Stqne , " ''Commissi 6 ' ner of Public ' Works at Sierra Leone , who spoke from intimate , knowledge of the working ' ¦ of Sir Frederick Cardew in the development of the Colony . Captain Stone ' also- alluded to tho great pleasure he felt in being present at the dinner , to wish " God Speed 1 V to his old friend Bro . Buckle , whom he had known for many years at Sierra Leone , and who was now one of its most respected merchants and magistrates . "

Skating . —A very representative meeting of members of the National Skating Association has been held at the National Skating Palace to arrange for the holding , for the first time iu England , of the World's Amateur Championship in Figure Skating , which it is proposed to hold at the National Skating Palace , 7 Argyll Street , Begent Street , W ., on account of its large skating area and seating accommodation .

THE Diplome d'Honneur , which is one grade higher than the Gold Bledal , has been awarded to " Vinolia" Soap for Toilet purposes , at tho International Exhibition at Brussels . It will be recollected that it was to " Vinolia " Soap that thc Sanitary Institute awarded their medal , which is probably thc highest scientific award in the world over given to soaps .

The ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Walter Cockerham - ¦ acting as candidate , the * Symbolical Lecture being admirably given by Comp . ' Charles Swinn P . Z . 204 P . P . G . Sd . Br ., tho same being listened to by a large and appreciative audience . Printed copies of the newly-framed Bye-Laws were submitted and duly approved . The next meeting will take place on Tuesday , 9 th November ,

DUKE OF FIFE CHAPTER , No . 2345 . THE usual convocation was held on Wednesday , 6 th inst ., when the S . E . reported that Comp . B'lunslow S . N . had sailed for South Africa since their last meeting . It was announced that a member would represent the Chapter at the' Boys Festival next year . All business being ended , the Chapter was closed , and the members dined together under the presidency of Comp . Folkard P . Z .

FAREWELL DINNER TO BRO . A . BUCKLE , J . P ., P . M . A FEW friends assembled together at the Carlton Club , Spring Gardens , . Manchester , * on Tuesday evening , 12 th inst ., for a farewell dinner to Bro . A . Buckle , J . P ., P . M . of the Sierra Leone Lodge , previous to his departure home after a visit to England of some months' duration , his principal object being to attend the different Jubilee festivities , notably the ' great Blasonic gathering in the Albert Hall , under the presidency of the Grand Master His Boyal Highness tho Prince of Wales .

Tho chair was taken by Bro . A . T . Forrest P . M . Avon Lodge , No . 1633 ( East Lancashire ) , who , after the Usual loyal toasts had been honoured , proposed the guest of the evening , Bro . A . Bucke , J . P ., alluding to the fact that in returning home to Sierra Leone it would bo the sixteenth time he ' ( Bro . Buckle ) had crossed to and fro .

Bro . Buckle responded , and " spoke of his groat desire to increase'the ' development-of Sierra Loohe , and to further cement the friendship of Great ' Britian with her West African ' colony . A health to our Colonial Empire was proposed by Bro . Bev . W . Challenor " P . G . Chaplain ( E . L . ); and coupled with " this ' was the name of Col . Sir Fredk . Cardew , Governor of Sierra Leone , who had so materially assisted during his r term 0 f office in opening but the railway "frow ' Sieffa"L ' ebrie to the Hinterland . '

The toast was replied' to' by . 0 apta " Yl '' 'Stqne , " ''Commissi 6 ' ner of Public ' Works at Sierra Leone , who spoke from intimate , knowledge of the working ' ¦ of Sir Frederick Cardew in the development of the Colony . Captain Stone ' also- alluded to tho great pleasure he felt in being present at the dinner , to wish " God Speed 1 V to his old friend Bro . Buckle , whom he had known for many years at Sierra Leone , and who was now one of its most respected merchants and magistrates . "

Skating . —A very representative meeting of members of the National Skating Association has been held at the National Skating Palace to arrange for the holding , for the first time iu England , of the World's Amateur Championship in Figure Skating , which it is proposed to hold at the National Skating Palace , 7 Argyll Street , Begent Street , W ., on account of its large skating area and seating accommodation .

THE Diplome d'Honneur , which is one grade higher than the Gold Bledal , has been awarded to " Vinolia" Soap for Toilet purposes , at tho International Exhibition at Brussels . It will be recollected that it was to " Vinolia " Soap that thc Sanitary Institute awarded their medal , which is probably thc highest scientific award in the world over given to soaps .
