The Brethren saluted in the three degrees , the Lodge being resumed as necessary , Bro . Ross rehearsed the investiture of Officers , and was elected to act as W . M . at the next meeting .

The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . R . Reid acting as candidate . Bro . Meek answered the questions in a satisfactory manner and was entrusted . Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing gone through , the same Brother taking the place as candidate . Bro . R . Kristima 834 was elected a member .
Bro . Arthur Williams asked those present to do all they could to support the case of Leonard Cox , at the next election of the Boys School . Bro . Lewin was elected to the chair for next meeting , and as that Brother is noted for the excellent way he renders the ritual we may predict a large gathering .
FINSBURY PARK LODGE , No . 1288 . ON Saturday we had the pleasure of visiting this well known Lodge of Instruction , which resumed work for the winter season on Saturday , 2 nd inst ., at the old established Cock Tavern , Highbury , N ., which house has been newly decorated in a most artistic manner , and to the great credit of Bro . Frank Evans , the proprietor .
The Brethren assembled in the magnificent Masonic rooms which are attached to the Hotel ,. Bro . E . Rawlinson acting as W . M .., and having the assistance of Bros . H . J . Davies S . W ., W . Bean J . W ., H . Hill P . M . Prec , J . A . Key S . D ., J . Coley J . D ., J . W . Key I . G ., Pocklington P . M ., W . Syclemoore P . M ., M . Taylor P . M ., Newbold , G . H . Paine , J . Hume , Ibbott , E . Baker , W . Lewis , Elvin , J . Wynman , and others .
The Lodge was opened to the second degree , and the W . M . proposed to rehearse the ceremony of raising , for which Bros . Baker and Elvin were accepted as candidates . Having answered the usual questions in a very satisfactory manner they wero entrusted . By desire of the W . M . Bro . W . Syclemoore P . M ., with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the third section of the lecture , and this being ended the Lodge was called off . On resuming , the W . M . proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of raising , and next resumed the Lodge to the first degree .
Bro . W . Lewis , of the Bloomsbury Rifles Lodge , No . 2362 , was unanimously elected a member , which compliment was duly acknowledged . Bro . H . J . Davies was elected to preside this ( Saturday ) evening . We may remind our readers that the Finsbury Park Lodge of Instruction meets every Saturday at 8 o ' clock , and is under the able preceptorship of Bro . H . Hill . Brethren seeking for Masonic knowledge or fraternal intercourse could hardly do better than visit it ; they may rest assured of receiving a most hearty welcome .
The above named establishment is under the able management of Bro William Evans , who will be pleased to give further particulars .

Treas ., R . Josey P . M . Sec , Arthur Williams P . M . Preceptor ' M- F . Wilkins S . D ., W . Atkinson J . D ., G . T . Meek I . G ., Maurice Speigei P . M ., W . Hide P . M ., 3 . H . Gumming P . Lodge was opened and advanced to the second degree , when Bro Gumming proved his proficiency , was entrusted , and , after the Lodge was opened in the third degree , acted as candidate for the ceremony of raising . The traditional history was also given , and we must congratulate Bro . Robert
Reid on the impressive and eloquent manner in which he rendered the beautiful ritual . The Brethren worked the first section of the lecture , under the direction of the Preceptor . Afterwards the Lodge was resumed to the nrsfc degree and closed , when the Brethren departed , having spent a most enjoyable and instructive evening .

Brethren the usual questions , which were answered in a perfect manner , and to the satisfaction of every Brother present . The ceremony of initiation waa rehearsed , Bro . Pereno acting as candidate . Bro . Weston Preceptor worked the first section of the lecture . The perfect working of Bro . Culverhouse being so well known requires no comment on our part , suffice it to say he added to his reputation .
Bro . A . Barrell , manager of the Hotel , was elected W . M . for Wednesday next . This young but prosperous Lodge of Instruction meets every Wednesday , at eight o ' clock . Local Brethren seeking for Masonic instruction could hardly do better than pay the Lodge a visit . Bro . H . J . Weston P . M . is the Preceptor .
PROVINCIAL . — : o : — NEW FOREST LODGE , No . 319 . THE annual Sfc . John ' s day Festival was held at the Masonic Hall , Lymington , on Tuesday afternoon , 12 th inst ., when there was a large attendance , several visiting Brethren being present . The members assembled at noon , and after transacting the ordinary business were called off until 3 p . m ., when Bro . B . L . Ghent J . W . was installed W . M . of the Lodge for the ensuing year .
Following the appointment of Officers , the W . M . presented to Bro . T . Schafer I . P . M . a Past Master ' s jewel in gold , as a mark of the Brethren ' s appreciation of his services during the past year . At the close of the Lodge the Brethren adjourned to the Lecture Hall of the Literary Institution , where a banquet was served by Bro . Past Master
Dore . A most pleasant evening was spent , the heartiest of good wishes being expressed towards Bro . Ghent that his year of office might be a prosperous and happy one in the annals of the New Forest Lodge . Very hearty thanks were also given to Bro . Algar , whose impressive recital of the installation ritual was fittingly alluded to . The proceedings closed shortly before 8 p . m .
PRINCE OF WALES LODGE , No . 951 . THB annual installation took place on Friday , Sth inst ., at Stow-on-the-Wold , when Bro . F . B . Osborne was installed in the chair in succession to Bro . Sidney Stallard . The installation ceremony was performed by the Deputy Prov . G . M . of Gloucestershire Bro . R . V . Vasser-Smith , assisted by Past Masters of the Lodge .
In the course of the after dinner proceedings the Deputy Prov . G . M . took the opportunity of congratulating the Lodge on its present healthy condition , and on the steady progress it was making . It did well in exercising care in the selection of candidates for admission . Oue of the dangers of the Craft in the present day was the admission of men attracted by the material benefits it appeared to offer , rather than by the principles underlying it . It ought never to be allowed to usurp the functions of a benefit society .
ATHOLE LODGE , No . 1004 . THE first meeting after the vacation was hold at fche Masonic Hall , Douglas , on Wednesday evening , 6 th inst . The W . M . Bro . James Bowling presided , and there was a fair attendance of local Brethren and visitors from English Lodges .
The business on the circular was a raising , but the candidate being off the Island there was no ceremony , aod only a few items of minor business were disposed of .
SACKVILLE LODGE , No . 1619 . rjpHE annual installation was held on Tuesday , Sth inst ., at the Masonic JL Temple , St . James Road , East Grinsfcead . Bro . A . Brandt was installed as W . M ., and he appointed the Officers for the ensuing year . After the ceremony the Brethren and visiting friends dined at the Whito Lion Hotel .
BLACKWATER LODGE , No . 1977 . rriHE annual installation festival took placo on Monday , 18 th inst . The _ L Brethren assembled in the Lodge Boom , Blue Boar Hotel , Maldon , afc three p . m ., when Bro . Arthur Hodsell Brooks S . W . was duly installed in the chair of K . S ., the ceremony being impressively performed by Bro . T . J , Railing Prov . G . Sec . Essex P . A . G . D . C . Eng . The Worshipful Master then appointed his Officers .
Handsome Past Master ' s Jewels were presented to Bros . W . Budrum , E . A . Basham , E . E . Eve , and A . J . Bennett . Subsequently the Brethren and visitors , to the number of thirty-five , sat down to trie annual banquet in fche Assembly Booms of the Hotel , under fche presidency of the newly appointed VV . M . The W . M . referred sympathetically to the illness of their Treasurer Bro . S . Shawyer , which prevented his attendance .
A NEW weekly magazine will be issued early next month by Messrs . Cassell and Company , under the title of " Sunday Chimes . " It will be fully illustrated , and will aim at supplying for tho day of rest matter as high in quality and as attractive in character as that provided for the weekday by fche firm ' s very successful publication " The New Penny Magazine . "
A CHEAP edition , in sixpenny weekly parts , is about to be issued of " Cassell ' s Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland . " The work is very fully illustrated from authentic photographs , and will contain sixty maps in colours . Part 1 will bo ready on 1 th October .
