THE annual festival of this ancient Lodgo took place on Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., at the Town Hull , Gravesend , when the W . M . Bro . Shaw Directors of Ceremonies , George Masters and John Solomon Stewards , and George Martin , who haa held the post for forty-seven years , as Tyler . Bro . Champion was re-appointed Charity Steward . The Lodge was then closed , and the company acljonrnod to the New Falcon Hotel , where tho banquet was served .

SUN , SQUARE , AND COMPASSES LODGE , No . 119

TilE installation meeting of this Lodge was held on Monday , the 4 th inst ., at Freemasons' Hall , Whitehaven , for the purpose of installing Bro . Jonathan Cant W . M . elect , when there was a large muster of Past Masters , Members , and Visitors , numbering about 70 . It had also become known thafc Bro . George J . McKay P . G . Standard Bearer England , the newly . appointed Deputy Provincial Grand Master of the Province , was expected to be present to visit the old

Lodge as first in the Province after his appointment . The Lodge was opened by Bro . J . Barr P . M . P . P . G . S . W in tho absence of Brother S . Broadbenfc W . M ., after which Bro . McKay was reported , supported by Bros . G . W . Kenwortby , the senior P . M . of the Lodge P . P . G . S . W ., and G . Dalrymple P . M . P . G . Secretary , when he was admitted , and saluted with Grand honours , and invited to the ancient chair , and

Bro . Barr presented him with the emblem of power . Bro . McKay thanked Bro . Barr and tho brethren present for their kind reception on his first visit as Deputy Provincial Graud Master , and invited Bro . Barr to again preside , and at once to proceed with the installntion of Worshipful Master elect , which was done in an able manner , in the presence of 30 Past Masters . Bro . Konworth y delivered the

customary addresses with marked ability , and Bro . Dalrymple invested the Officers , as follow : —Bros . S . Hinde S . W ., H . Meageen J . W ., W . C Johns Treas ., W . Gaffney Secretary and Organist , J . Laohlison S . D ., I . Maxwell J . D ., E . Thornburrow D . C . and Almoner , J . Walker and H . Burns Stewards , and T . Richardson Tyler . Letters of apology for absence wero i-ead from Bros . Broadbent , Kirkconel ,

Richardson , Wilkinson , Annison , and Bradley . The Deputy Prov . Grand Master said in tendering hearty good wishes for tbe Province , he had to express with pleasure the excellent way the ceremony of installation had been gone through , which was very creditable indeed to all concerned , and seeing all the Lodges in Westmoreland had promised to raise 50 guineas to the Roynl Masonio Benevolent

Institution , he had no doubt Sun , Square , and Compasses would do tho same . Bro . Cant said ifc should have the first consideration , and he had no doubt of the issue , it was a very commendable one . He was also much pleased that Bro . McKay had honoured the old Lodge 119 with his first visit . With hearty good wishes from other visitors present the Lodge was closed , and about 60 adjourned to Bro . Cowan ' s , Globe

Hotel , where an excellent banquet was served . The usual loyal toasts were given from the chair , as also was that of the Grand Officers Present and Past . Bro . McKay responded . Bro . Pagou gave the Right Worshipful Provincial Grand Master , and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers Present and Past . Bro . Dalrymple replied . The toasfc of the evening was ably proposed by Bro . Barr , who said in the long history of fche Lodge perhaps no brother had displayed

more energy than Bro . Cant had for the good of tho Lodge aud Masonry , which was well known to all , and his year of office would be a successful one . Bro . Cant briefly replied , and said ho had had his eye on the chair of the Lodge for a long time , and every effort would be used to further the interests of the Craft ; good candidates , and plenty of them , and the work wonld have every care . The Installing Master and the Visiting Brethren were proposed and responded to , and with a few capital songs a pleasant evening was spent .

SINCERITY LODGE , No . 189

THE installation meeting was held , on the 11 th iust ., at the Sincerity Masonic Temple , St . George ' s Hall , Stonehonse , to instal Bro . Stirling Graves as tho W . M . for the ensuing year . The ceremony was ably carried out by Bros . W . G . Stawell the retiring W . M ., the Ilev . Dr . Lemon , and A . S . Hendry , the latter giving the

charges in a most eloquent and impressive manner . The Board of Installed Masters having been closed , tho W . M . invested the following brethren as his Officers for tho year ensuing : —Bros . Geo . HENDON LODGE , No . 2206 . AN emergency meeting of this popular Lodge took place afc the Welsh Harp , Hendon , on Saturday , the 9 th inst . Present—Bros . Nottingham W . M ., A . Scnrrah S . W ., W . M . Stiles P . M . acting J . W ., Lewis I . P . M ., W . A . Scurrah P . M . P . P . G . S . of Works Middlesex Secretary , Stiles P . M . Treasnrer , W . Powell Dir . of Cers ., Jabez Mason S . D ., Johnson I . G ., R . Whiting Tyler ; Ling , J . Mason , Adam , H . C . Parsons , H . Cronin , Stansall , King , and Gunn . The

Visitors were Bros . C . H . Stone S . W . 507 , D . Ososki J . W . 701 , Garrard J . W . 890 , Dr . Goodchild P . M . 704 , Searl 108 , and Crofts 1986 . The ballot waa taken for Messrs . E . H . Jenkins , James King , T . G . Pemberton , and H . H . Griffiths ( who had been proposed and seconded at the last regular meeting ); ifc proving unanimous in their favour , they were very impressively initiated by the W . M ., Bro .

A . A . Nottingham . Bros . H . 0 . Parsons and T . Ling were raised to the sublime degree in a most perfect manner by Bro . Lewis . Tho Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a capital repast catered for by the proprietor , Mr . Warner , whioh was much enjoyed . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were afterwards given in most befitting terms , and as equally well received . That of the Pro Grand

Master , Deputy Graud Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , was given in capital style by the Worshipful Master , and heartily received by the brethren . Bro . Lewis next gave the toast of the Worshipful Master , remarking that he had stated at the last regular meeting it was the last occasion he should have the privilege of proposing that toast , bnt circumstances had so ordered

it that once more ifc gave him the greatest possible pleasure in submitting it . That evening was the Worshipful Master ' s crowning success , for he had worked the ceremony of initiation in an admirable manner . The toast was received most enthusiastically , and in reply the Worship ful Master thanked the Immediate Past Master and brethren for receiving him with such enthusiasm . He was only too

pleased to do what he possibly could for the Lodge . What he had clone was only his duty , and he should always strive to his utmost to advance its interests . He was always delighted to be amongst tho brethren of the Hendon Lodge . The Worshipful Master next gave fcho toast of the Initiates in very becoming terms , remarking the previous knowledge he had of them only convinced him they

would be a credit , and prove themselves worthy of the Lodge . He could nofc but be struck afc fche marked attention fchey had paid to fche beautiful ceremony , and the impression it had made upon them . He had great pleasure in proposing tho toast . Bros . Jenkins , King , Pemberton , and Griffiths most appropriately replied , pledging themselves to endeavour to carry out all that had been so ably propounded

to them to the best of their ability . The toasfc of the I . P . M . aud Past Masters was next given by the Worshipful Master , who strongly oulogised tbe admirable work of Bro . Lewis in the third degree , and Bro . Scarrah in . his secretarial duties . Bros . Lewis and Scurrah most ably responded . The Visitors was next given in highly complimentary terms by the W . M ., who most heartily welcomed them to tho Lodge . This toast met with a most cordial reception ,

and was . very tersely responded to by Bros . Stone , Goodchild , Searl , Ososki , Crofts , aud Garrard , who very suitably acknowledged tho compliment paid them , and remarked upon the excellent working they had witnessed . That of tho Treasurer and Secretary tho Worshipfnl Master stated was one worthy of the best reception from all the brethren , for they were two excellent Officers , and showed the deepest interest in the Lodge . Bro . Stiles replied that

HENDON LODGE , No . 2206 . AN emergency meeting of this popular Lodge took place afc the Welsh Harp , Hendon , on Saturday , the 9 th inst . Present—Bros . Nottingham W . M ., A . Scnrrah S . W ., W . M . Stiles P . M . acting J . W ., Lewis I . P . M ., W . A . Scurrah P . M . P . P . G . S . of Works Middlesex Secretary , Stiles P . M . Treasnrer , W . Powell Dir . of Cers ., Jabez Mason S . D ., Johnson I . G ., R . Whiting Tyler ; Ling , J . Mason , Adam , H . C . Parsons , H . Cronin , Stansall , King , and Gunn . The

Visitors were Bros . C . H . Stone S . W . 507 , D . Ososki J . W . 701 , Garrard J . W . 890 , Dr . Goodchild P . M . 704 , Searl 108 , and Crofts 1986 . The ballot waa taken for Messrs . E . H . Jenkins , James King , T . G . Pemberton , and H . H . Griffiths ( who had been proposed and seconded at the last regular meeting ); ifc proving unanimous in their favour , they were very impressively initiated by the W . M ., Bro .

A . A . Nottingham . Bros . H . 0 . Parsons and T . Ling were raised to the sublime degree in a most perfect manner by Bro . Lewis . Tho Lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a capital repast catered for by the proprietor , Mr . Warner , whioh was much enjoyed . The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were afterwards given in most befitting terms , and as equally well received . That of the Pro Grand

Master , Deputy Graud Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , was given in capital style by the Worshipful Master , and heartily received by the brethren . Bro . Lewis next gave the toast of the Worshipful Master , remarking that he had stated at the last regular meeting it was the last occasion he should have the privilege of proposing that toast , bnt circumstances had so ordered

it that once more ifc gave him the greatest possible pleasure in submitting it . That evening was the Worshipful Master ' s crowning success , for he had worked the ceremony of initiation in an admirable manner . The toast was received most enthusiastically , and in reply the Worship ful Master thanked the Immediate Past Master and brethren for receiving him with such enthusiasm . He was only too

pleased to do what he possibly could for the Lodge . What he had clone was only his duty , and he should always strive to his utmost to advance its interests . He was always delighted to be amongst tho brethren of the Hendon Lodge . The Worshipful Master next gave fcho toast of the Initiates in very becoming terms , remarking the previous knowledge he had of them only convinced him they

would be a credit , and prove themselves worthy of the Lodge . He could nofc but be struck afc fche marked attention fchey had paid to fche beautiful ceremony , and the impression it had made upon them . He had great pleasure in proposing tho toast . Bros . Jenkins , King , Pemberton , and Griffiths most appropriately replied , pledging themselves to endeavour to carry out all that had been so ably propounded

to them to the best of their ability . The toasfc of the I . P . M . aud Past Masters was next given by the Worshipful Master , who strongly oulogised tbe admirable work of Bro . Lewis in the third degree , and Bro . Scarrah in . his secretarial duties . Bros . Lewis and Scurrah most ably responded . The Visitors was next given in highly complimentary terms by the W . M ., who most heartily welcomed them to tho Lodge . This toast met with a most cordial reception ,

and was . very tersely responded to by Bros . Stone , Goodchild , Searl , Ososki , Crofts , aud Garrard , who very suitably acknowledged tho compliment paid them , and remarked upon the excellent working they had witnessed . That of tho Treasurer and Secretary tho Worshipfnl Master stated was one worthy of the best reception from all the brethren , for they were two excellent Officers , and showed the deepest interest in the Lodge . Bro . Stiles replied that
