Pearson presided ot the piano .

LODGE OP FREEDOM , No . 77 . THE usual monthly meeting of this ancient Lodge was held last Monday evening , at the New Falcon Hotel , Gravesend , when lbs W . M . ( Bro . Georgo Rackstraw ) presided and was supported by his Officers and several Past Musters . The only bnsiness before the Lodge W 8 < jtha initiation of Mr . John Garner Caddell , whioh ceremony wis very carefully and impressively rendered by Bro . Rsckatraw , the ancient chargo being subseqao » tly delivered by Bro . Orlton Cooper P . M . The death cf two brethren , formerly members of the Lod ge , waa reported , viz ., Bro . Edward Carpenter , who died at the Capo of Good Hope , and Bro . Alexander Holland , who expired suddenly at Gravesend last week and was buried on the 13 th inst ., on whioh

occasion wreaths were sent from the Lodges of Freedom and Sympathy . The Treasurer ' s report , showing a satisfactory bilanco was presented and the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony . The brothren then adjourned to the banquet-room , where an excellent dinner was served by Bro . Johu Simpson , ond a pleasant evening waa spent .

PEACE AND HARMONY LODGE , No . 199 . THERE was a large gathering at the Freemasons' Hall , Dover , on the 2 nd inst ., on tho re-a ^ sembling for tho winter meetings of tho Lodge . Brother E . C . Fielding the W . M . provided , and the business included tho initiation of a well-known Town Councillor and also a passing and a raising . Tbe namo of Brother G . Wyudham , M . P ., was on tho agenda for passing , but that brother was unable to be present .

NEW FOREST LODGE , No . S 19 . THE monthly meeting was held on Tuesday , the 10 th insfc ., at the Lodgo room , Bugle Hotel , Lymington . The ceremonies of the dny wore impressively performed by tbo new W . M ., Brother C . R . Hayball . At the close of tbe Lodge , tha brethren adjourned to a banqnet provided by Bro . Past Master Dore , and spent a pleasant evening together .

services during the year , and in pinning it to his breast , tho W . M . paid a fitting elogium to Bro . Beamish's work , and eaid that ho taught a lesson to them all as to how the ceremonies should 1 ) J performed . Bro . Beamish suitably responded , and proposed that a hearty vote of thanks from the Lodge should be accorded to Bro . O .-lton Cooper for his services as Director of Ceremonies . This was seconded by Bro . Ronaldson and carried unanimously .

Brother Cooper briefly acknowledged tho compliment . Two candidates were announced for initiation at tha next meeting ; and Brother Hogg having received the hearty good wishes of the visiting brethren , the Lodge was closed .
