Committee showed that since the last annual meeting several candidates from tho Province had been elected to tho benefits of thu Masonic Charities . The report was adopted . Bro . E . G . Harwood P . P . G . W . ( Bolton ) Chairman of the Committee proposed , in accordance with notice ,
that the sum of £ 50 be contributed from the Prov . Grand Lodge funds in aid of tho East Lancashire Systematic Masonic Educational Benevolent Institution . Bro . J . L . HineP . P . G . W . ( Manchester ) seconded the motion . It was
suggested that the amount should be increased to £ 100 , and the proposer and seconder of the motion assenting , it was submitted to the meeting as amended , and unanimously Agreed to . The ceremony was performed by Bro . Colonel Somerville Burney I' . G . D . England ( who was onn of the founders of tlie Lodge , some 34 years ago ) , assisted by Bro . R . Haward Ives P . M . 51 P . P . A . G . Secretary . The Officers for i he year were appointed and

Skiugley , thanking ths brethren for re-electing him as their Treasurer , arid regretting that his health was not sufficiently restored to enable him to bo present . The Secretary was directed to express to Bro . Skingley the pleasure of the brethren that he was recovering , and th < 3 hope that he might be present at
the next regular meeting . A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Bro . Colonel Somerville Burney for his kindness in attending and performing the ceremony , the W . M . in proposing the vote remarking that althongh Col . Burney could not now come amongst them so often as they could wish , yet his name was kept green amongst them , for there were very few meetings of the Lodge at whioh it was
not mentioned . Col . Burney , in acknowledging the vote , said it was with the greatest pleasure that he had come down to tbe meeting that day and taken part iu their festive gathering . There was , of course , some amount of sadness in looking back to the time when he assisted in the formation of this Lodgo , nearly 35 years ago , aa so many friends had passed away . He believed that , besides himself ,
there were only two brethren now living who were among the first members of tho Lodge . Speaking at the dinner which followed , Colonel Barney reverted to this point , and recalled the faot that the Angel Lodge , No . 51 , which was invited to recommend the petition for the United Lodge considered it was not wanted , and a favourable
verdict was only arrived at on the casting vote of the W . M . He was glad to know that the greatest good feeling now prevailed between the two Lodges , an evidence of which was fonnd that night , in the presence of the Master and several members of Lodge 51 . An excellent dinner was served by Brother Coope , of the George Hotel .
