UPTON INSTRUCTION LODGE ANNUAL SUPPER . THE third annual supper and Ladies' night of the Upton Lodge of Instruction , No . 1227 , was held on Monday , at the Great Eastern Hotel , Liverpool Street , under the presidency of Bro . E . M . Jeffery W . M . of
the Mother Lodge , who , m his old genial way took up his position as chairman , being ably supported by his Wardens ( Bros . Peters and Hyde ) and the Past Masters of the Lodge , with tho exception of Brother 0 . Schmidt and John Stroud , the latter being unfortunately absent through illness at home .
The attendance was most satisfactory , the company numbering close on ninety , of whom nearly one half wore Ladies . Altogether the event must be described as a red-letter day for the Upton Lodge of Instruction , everyone present thoroughly enjoying themselves . Songs , recitations and music helped to fill up the intervals between the
toasts of the evening and kept the company thoroughly entertained until close upon midnight . Each of the Ladies was presented with a hamper of chocolate as a souvenir of the occasion . We must not omit to mention that much of the success of the meeting was due to the efforts of Bro . C . J . Free P . M . Treasurer of the Lodge , and Bro . G . A . Peters its Secretary , each of whom did all that was possible to ensure the enjoyment of the company .

CAMBRIAN LODGE , No . 364 . THE annual installation took place at the Masonic Hall , Neath , on the 3 rd inst ., when Bro . Geo . Palmer was installed W . M . b y the outgoing Master Bro . Matthew Whittington .
PORTSMOUTH LODGE , No . 487 . AT the Masonic Hall , Highbury Street , Portsmouth , on the 12 th inst ., in the presence of a large gathering of the Craft , Bro . Charles F . Brown was installed W . M . by Bro . John Brickwood P . P . J . G . D . The new Master presented Bro . John Brickwood with his portrait in oils ,
on behalf of the members of the Lodge , and an illuminated address which recites that it is presented as a mark of the high appreciation in which the services of Bro . J . Brickwood as W . M . of the Lodge for two successive years are held by his Brethren ; and to congratulate him upon having that day completed the sixth successive Mastership of five difierent Lodges in the Borough of Portsmouth .
Bro . Brickwood feelingly acknowledged the compliment which had been paid him , and he presented the portrait to the Lodge to hang upon the walls of the Lodge Room .

There was a large attendance of visiting brethren , as well as members of the Lodge , and the ceremony was most impressively performed . Brother Samuel Tinkler was installed as Master .
