BOARD OF BENEVOLENCE .

THE monthly meeting of the Board of Benevolence was held on Wednesday evening , at Freemasons' Hall . Brother Mercer Senior Vice-President occupied the President ' s chair for the first two hours , -with Bro . Cottebrune acting as Senior

Vice-Presidenfc , and Bro . Tijou as Junior Vice-President . Brother Eobert Grey President took the remainder of the evening , and Bro . Mercer returned to his position as Senior Vice-President . Bros . W . Lake , W . Dodd , and W . H . Lee represented Grand Secretary ' s office .

The Brethren confirmed recommendations of the previous meeting to the amount of £ 470 , and afterwards dealt with the new list , which consisted of forty petitions . One petitioner on the list had died . Two cases were

dismissed and one petition was deferred . A total of £ 850 was voted to the others . This was distributed as follows : one £ 75 , seven £ 40 each , seven £ 30 each , nine £ 20 each , nine £ 10 each , and three £ 5 each . An additional £ 10 was voted to a case to which £ 10 was voted at the February meeting .
