Tho brethren thou retired to an excellent banquet , which was provided at tho Wellington Hotel

aud served in that recherche style for which this hotel is noted . After tho usual loyal toasts had been proposed and drunk with that enthusiasm which characterises Freemasons , the Prov . Grand Master expressed the great satisfaction experienced in complimenting the Master , Wardens and members of tho Aldershot Lodge upon having made during the past two years greater progress than any

other Lodge in the Province . Tho Prov . Grand Master then proposed tho health of the " Provincial Officers " which was responded to by Worshipful Bro . Hickman and Bro . Eve , who stated that ifc afforded the brethren of tho Aldershot Lodgo much pleasure in having the honour to entertain the members of tho Provincial Grand Lodge , and still more to hear the complimentary terms in which the

Most Worshipful Prov . Grand Master had been pleased to speak of their efforts to promote tho best interests of Freemasonry in this district , and that he mig ht depend that what had been done in the past was an earnest of their seal in the future . The Deputy Prov . Graud Master then proposed the health of tho " Master , Wardens , and

Members of the Aldershot Lodge . " Bro . Hacker , in the absence of the W . M ., responded , and thanked the Provincial Grand Master for the honour done the Lodge in appointing Aldershot for the meeting this year , aud also in selecting members of that Lodge for his Officers . After some excellent songs by Bros . Eve , Adnett , White , and Hacker , the brethren left , afc an early hour .

United Service Lodge , 1 , 428 . —The installation of Bro . James Leggett as Worshipful Master of this Lodge took place at the Masonic Hall , Hig hbnry-street , Portsmouth , ou Friday 12 fch inst . About 130 members and visitors attended . The Lodgo met afc threo o ' clock , and after the ordinary business on the notice paper had been transacted , tho W . M . elect was presented to the installing master ( Bro .

H . Townsend , the retiring VV . M . ) and duly installed , in accordance with the ancient customs of the Craffc , the Board of Installed Masters being composed of the following : —Bros . M . E . conclusion of the ceremony of installation , which was ably and impressively conducted by Bro . Townsend , the following brethren were appointed Officers of the Lodge : —Bros . Williams S . W ., John J . W ., T . Mares Treasurer , Woodward Secretary , Strick S . D ., May J . D ., J . R . Willson P . M . D . O ., Wilton Organist , Laverty I . G ., Nelder aud Waltou Stewards , Manseli and Vinnicombe Tylers . The W . M . subsequently

presented a P . M . 's jewel ( which had been subscribed for by the members of the Lodge ) to Bro . Townsend , referring in eulogistic terms to his exertions for the welfare of the Locige during his year of office . The Treasurer's account showed the Locige to be in a highly satisfactory financial position , and notices of motion wore given to vote tho sum of 10 guineas to the widow of a deceased member , 10 guineas to the

Eurydice Relief Fund , and £ 50 to the Eoyal Masonic Benevolent Institution . Tho banquet was served iu the large dining hall of the Lodge , the tables being tastefully arranged , a choice collection of foliage and other plants from Messrs . Cripps and Son , Portsea , adding considerably to the effect . Aboufc 100 members and visitors attended ,

the W . M . presiding . The usual toasts wero given from the chair . Bro . Frost , iu responding for the Provincial Grand Officers , alluded to the fact Ui his having installed Bro . Townsend as W . Tho next toast , " Tho W . M ., " was proposed by Bro . Townsend , tho I . P . M ., and received with great enthusiasm . Iu giving the toast , Bro . Townsend said ifc had been his pleasing duty that evening to instal in his stead Bro . Leggett , one of the oldest members of the Lodge , and he felt sure if his zeal and attention to tho duties as W . M . were in

keeping with what ho had hitherto shown , they would havo no cause to regret tho choice they had mado . Having referred to tho possible absence of tho W . M . on duty during some portion of the year , Bro . Townsend said he felt ifc was not fair to a brother who had attained a position entitling him to tho chair that ho should bo debarred from filling the post of W . M . in consequence of his duties in tho service to

which he might happen to belong . Tho toast was drunk with musical honours . The Worshipful Master , in acknowledging the hearty reception accorded to the toast , assured the members of tho Lodgo ho wou'd do his best to keep up the namo of that Lodge—one of the youngest , but the strongest iu number , and by no means tho weakest in funds , as thoir balance-sheet would show ( Applause . ) Ho should do his utmost

to keep up the position of the Lodge—no easy task after succeeding their late W . M . In proposing the health of the Installing Master , the W . M . said he was sure fchey would all join iu saying ho had performed tho ceremony in a most able manner . Ho also spoke of his services to tho Lodgo during the past year , a reference whioh evoked expressions of approval from all present . Bro . Townsend , in acknowledgment ; ,

said ho had always made ifc his study , from tho foundation of tho Lodge , to watch its interests . They had had their little drawbacks at times , but tho present position of tho Locige showed that ifc had not suffered from them . Alluding to tbo presentation mado him in tho Lodgo , he said ho esteemed it a very high compliment . He looked forward to tho timo when the Lodge would havo a building of its own ,

worthy the united services ( Applause . ) It only required a long and strong pull of all hands , and ho hoped iu n month or two to submit a scheme which would meet with their approval ( Hear , hear . ) Other toasts followed , " The Visitors" being proposed by Bro . Lieut . S . G . T . Bourke P . M ., and responded to by Bro . Bowden , P . G . Puvsvfc . ( Oxon ) .

Some excellent songs were given during the evening , those by Bro . Sylvester being specially worthy of umiitiou . The new VV . M . enters upon his year of office under the most favourable , auspices , tho Lodge being , as already stated , numerically and luuuioially strong . —Ports . mouth Tinies .

AT the invitation of the Lodgo Waitemata , E . G ., a largo gathering of Masons was held afc the Masonio Hotel , Auckland , ou 21 sfc May , to attend a banquet , as a mark of respect on the occasion of the departure from the district of tho R . W . D . G . M . Bro . Geo . S . Graham . Tho Lodgo business , after tho Lodgo had been opened , was formally adjourned for tho specific business of the evening . A banquet was spread in the Lodge-room by Bro . Hood , proprietor , afc which all the

customary viands and wines were supplied regardless of cost . Bro . G . S . Graham presided , and amongst the visitors and guests wero Bros . W . Lodder A . G . J . W ., H . G . Wade D . G . Sec , J . Warren D . G . J . W ., Moefc W . M . Lodge Rodney , Walker R . W . M . St . Andrew . The whole of the Officers of the Lodge Ara which attended as a Lodge were represented , and the other Lodges wero all fully represented . The

principal Officers were Bros . Colo W . M . of Lodgo Waitemata , P . M . Warren , Moefc W . M . Rodney , Levy W . M . Prince of Wales , Buchanan W . M . Tauranga ; P . M . 's Mitchell , Rees , Burns , Lears ; Bros . Haaso Remuera Lodge . Iu fact , all the Lodges were fully represented . Apologies for unavoidable absence wero received from Bro . F . Whitaker R . W . P . G . M ., S . C , G . P . Pierce E . W . P . G . M ., I . C ., Nelson

W . M . and others . After tho supper , tho nsual Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed and heartily responded to . Bro . P . M . Lodder proposed the toast of the Grand Masters of the three Masonic Constitutions , coupled with the names of Bros . Graham , Whitaker , and Pierce . In the course of his address he boro testimony to the efforts of Bro . Graham in the cause of Masonry . Bro . Graham ia reply

expressed regret at having to offer apologies from Bros . Pierce and Whitaker . Ho thanked those present for the manner in which they had responded to the toast , and for the good fellowship with which he had always been received . Although absent in body from them for a short period , he would be present in spirit . He referred more parti , cularly to his connection with Lodge Waitemata , and expressed his

hearty good wishes to the brethren generally , and more especially to Bro . Lodger , who had rendered him such able and willing assistance . Bro . Wade proposed the toast of the Senior Lodge Ara , referring to the close fraternal connection which had existed between that Lodge and Waitemata . Bro . Wilcox responded . Bro . Hatswell proposed the toast of " the Sister Lodges , whioh was responded to

by the Visitors present . In replying to this toasfc Bro . Buchanan , from Gisborne , gave some curious reminiscences . He had instituted Lodge Waitemata , and had at the installation taken one of the junior offices . In 1854 he became W . M . On looking around him he could see few of the old faces . His old friends had gone , but Masonry was still progressing . Tbe eood work the old masters had

performed still existed , and where thoy sowed , fruit was borne . The various Lodges had prospered , and he believed they would carry Masonry through New Zealand till ifc flourished as ifc did in England . Bro . Burns proposed the toast of the "Visiting Brethren , coupled with namo of Bro . Irving . " Bro . Irving responded iu a neat speech , alluding to the cordiality which he found existing amongst , the Auckland

Lodges . He referred to the subject of tho building of a new hall in Auckland , also to thafc of the formation of a district Grand Lodgo iu Auckland for tho colonies of New Zealand . Bro . Buchanan proposed the toast of "The WM . of Lodge Waitemata , " and L ' ro . Cole responded , proposing the toast of "The R . W . D . G . M . Bro . Graham . "

Ho also spoke of his services to tho Lodgo during the past year , a reference whioh evoked expressions of approval from all present . Bro . Townsend , in acknowledgment ; ,

said ho had always made ifc his study , from tho foundation of tho Lodge , to watch its interests . They had had their little drawbacks at times , but tho present position of tho Locige showed that ifc had not suffered from them . Alluding to tbo presentation mado him in tho Lodgo , he said ho esteemed it a very high compliment . He looked forward to tho timo when the Lodge would havo a building of its own ,

worthy the united services ( Applause . ) It only required a long and strong pull of all hands , and ho hoped iu n month or two to submit a scheme which would meet with their approval ( Hear , hear . ) Other toasts followed , " The Visitors" being proposed by Bro . Lieut . S . G . T . Bourke P . M ., and responded to by Bro . Bowden , P . G . Puvsvfc . ( Oxon ) .

Some excellent songs were given during the evening , those by Bro . Sylvester being specially worthy of umiitiou . The new VV . AT the invitation of the Lodgo Waitemata , E . G ., a largo gathering of Masons was held afc the Masonio Hotel , Auckland , ou 21 sfc May , to attend a banquet , as a mark of respect on the occasion of the departure from the district of tho R . W . D . G . M . Bro . Geo . S . Graham . Tho Lodgo business , after tho Lodgo had been opened , was formally adjourned for tho specific business of the evening . A banquet was spread in the Lodge-room by Bro . Hood , proprietor , afc which all the

customary viands and wines were supplied regardless of cost . Bro . G . S . Graham presided , and amongst the visitors and guests wero Bros . W . Lodder A . G . J . W ., H . G . Wade D . G . Sec , J . Warren D . G . J . W ., Moefc W . M . Lodge Rodney , Walker R . W . M . St . Andrew . The whole of the Officers of the Lodge Ara which attended as a Lodge were represented , and the other Lodges wero all fully represented . The

principal Officers were Bros . Colo W . M . of Lodgo Waitemata , P . M . Warren , Moefc W . M . Rodney , Levy W . M . Prince of Wales , Buchanan W . M . Tauranga ; P . M . 's Mitchell , Rees , Burns , Lears ; Bros . Haaso Remuera Lodge . Iu fact , all the Lodges were fully represented . Apologies for unavoidable absence wero received from Bro . F . Whitaker R . W . P . G . M ., S . C , G . P . Pierce E . W . P . G . M ., I . C ., Nelson

W . M . and others . After tho supper , tho nsual Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed and heartily responded to . Bro . P . M . Lodder proposed the toast of the Grand Masters of the three Masonic Constitutions , coupled with the names of Bros . Graham , Whitaker , and Pierce . In the course of his address he boro testimony to the efforts of Bro . Graham in the cause of Masonry . Bro . Graham ia reply

expressed regret at having to offer apologies from Bros . Pierce and Whitaker . Ho thanked those present for the manner in which they had responded to the toast , and for the good fellowship with which he had always been received . Although absent in body from them for a short period , he would be present in spirit . He referred more parti , cularly to his connection with Lodge Waitemata , and expressed his

hearty good wishes to the brethren generally , and more especially to Bro . Lodger , who had rendered him such able and willing assistance . Bro . Wade proposed the toast of the Senior Lodge Ara , referring to the close fraternal connection which had existed between that Lodge and Waitemata . Bro . Wilcox responded . Bro . Hatswell proposed the toast of " the Sister Lodges , whioh was responded to

by the Visitors present . In replying to this toasfc Bro . Buchanan , from Gisborne , gave some curious reminiscences . He had instituted Lodge Waitemata , and had at the installation taken one of the junior offices . In 1854 he became W . M . On looking around him he could see few of the old faces . His old friends had gone , but Masonry was still progressing . Tbe eood work the old masters had

performed still existed , and where thoy sowed , fruit was borne . The various Lodges had prospered , and he believed they would carry Masonry through New Zealand till ifc flourished as ifc did in England . Bro . Burns proposed the toast of the "Visiting Brethren , coupled with namo of Bro . Irving . " Bro . Irving responded iu a neat speech , alluding to the cordiality which he found existing amongst , the Auckland

Lodges . He referred to the subject of tho building of a new hall in Auckland , also to thafc of the formation of a district Grand Lodgo iu Auckland for tho colonies of New Zealand . Bro . Buchanan proposed the toast of "The WM . of Lodge Waitemata , " and L ' ro . Cole responded , proposing the toast of "The R . W . D . G . M . Bro . Graham . "

I ' this the latter responded . A number of other toasts , including " The health of Bros . Wade ancl Burns , " "The Press , " " The Host aud Hostess , " and others followed . Intervening between the speeches wsro a numbeia Qf songs , and a , very interesting and pleasant evening was Bnealj
