doing so when the relative positions they occupied that evening were reversed . Bro . Beasley , on rising , acknowledged the kind ] Avay in which tho toast had been given and received . This was not tho first time they had accorded him a hearty reception . On this , ' however , the last occasion when ho should have tho opportunity of being with them in his present capacity , ho felt ho should like to [

say a few Avords . For tAvo years ho had , with the assistance of his Officers , had tho pleasure of conducting the proceedings of the Lodge . He considered their progress had been eminently satis , factory , nnd they wero now at what might bo considered tho end of their first chapter . Before , however , they finished Avith that chapter ho Avonld , with their kind permission , revert to Avhat they

had accomplished . Ho thought they might Avith gratification look back on what they had done ; what they onght to havo done ; and Avhat remained to be done . In tho first year they not only started a new Lodge , bnt they mado that Lodge successful , and had brought t heir financial year to a close with a balance—small it is true — but sf ill a balance in their favour . Tho attendance of tho members

had nhvays been all that could bo desired , and tho efficiency of tho Officers had earned tho approbation and tho commendation of , those competent to judge . At tho end of the second year we ; find tho Lodge free from debt , and having a prestige for good Officers second to none in tho Craft , and not to bo excelled ! either in desiro or ability . Ho thought , under these circumstances , I

they had much to congratulate themselves upon . Individually , he felt ho had cause to be grateful for the assistance he had received . Aud now as to tho way in which this prosperity had been brought about . He Avas indebted to Bro . Morgan , Avho Avas a most Avelcome guest there at all times , for an idea , which he Avould endeavour to apply . Bro . Morgan had happily remarked , in reference to the

Officers of tho AVest Middlesex , that they seemed to realise tho true spirit of Masonic association , and while this spirit continued , they had nothing to fear from comparison with other Lodges . He ( Bro . Beasley ) AVOS tho Father of the Lodge , and as one of its f onnders , had watched its ]) rogress with some amount of affection . After what had fallen from the brethren , he felt that ho had been of some

service to tho Lodge , and tho acknowledgment of the members wonld act as an incentive for him to still further exert himself . Any souvenir from tho brethren—whatever they might decide on—Avonld always be prized by him . Bro . Beasley then apologised for tho length of his remarks , and Avound up by proposing in very eulogistic terms tho health of the AV . M . elect . Bro . Kingston acknowledged

the complimentary manner in Avhich his health had been proposed from the chair and received by the brethren , and said it wonld be his most anxious desire to fulfil the onerous duties of the Mastership Avith credit to himself and advantage to the Lodgo . Bro . Brown , Treasurer , and Bro . J . C . Eoe , Secretary , severally acknowledged tho toastof their healths , each of them expressing the pleasure thoy

had experienced in the discbarge of their duties , and tho hope that tho Lodge might continue as prosperously as heretofore . The Initiate , Bro . E . T . B . Allen , briefly bnt gracefully responded to his health , and trusted lie should be found Avorthy of tho honour they had conferred npon him by admitting him into the ranks of Freemasonry . Bros . AVcbb and AVells also expressed the pleasure they felt at having

been received into tho membership of West Middlesex Lodge , nnd having acquired in it their first insight into the mysteries of Freemasonry . Bro . Beasley then proposed the toast of tho Visitors , Avith Avhich ho associated the name of Bro . Morgan , and if a postscript Avere needed , he Avould call upon Bro . Gunner to supply it . The compliment Avas duly acknoAvledged , not only by the brethren named , but likewise by all the Visitors , and Bro .

DAvarber P . M . 55 and 1589 was eloquent to an extent beyond the average of ordinary speakers . The toast of the Officers was acknowlodged by Bros . Kasner , Green , and others . Several songs and reel . fations were given , by Bros . Gunner , Avho Avas very amusing , Morgan , Delevantc , and others ; and in the course of tho evening tho last mentioned brother introduced his daughter , Avho veiy kindly sang a conplo of songs Avith great taste and ability .

Lane vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Campbell , who rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Lane candidate . Bro . Cronch was dnly elected AV .
