behalf during tho past year . Bro . Des Barres suitably acknowledged tho gift , which ho would Avear Avith pride . Tho thanks of the Lodgo Avero voted to the installing Master , and to the AV . M . ' s and other visitors Avho had favoured the Lodge by their presence , and tho Lodge was formally closed . The brethren ad . journed to tho Eoyal Hotel to a banquet , Avhich mot with general

approval . After grace had been said by the Chaplain , the W . M . proceeded to give the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . In calling upon the brethren to drink the health of the Qneeu , the AV . M . felt sure ho should be supported by every brother present . Her Majesty is a noble lady , worthy of our respect . She is ever ready to support any charitable Institution , and generally to exert herself for the welfare of tho

country . After the National Anthem had been sung , tho W . M . gave the toast of tho Most AVorshipful Grand Master . As Masons wo conld but bo gratified at having so worthy a brother to preside over us . He hoped at the installation meeting , to bo held next week , tho Prince Avonld bo received , as he over had been in Freemasonry , with enthusiasm . The Pro G . M ., tho D . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers

were next honoured . Thoy aro ever ready to do their duty , and to render assistance to tho Craft . Bro . Usher had great pleasure in responding . At Masonic meetings it was only necessary to mention the names of those at tho head of affairs to ensure a hearty recep - tion . All who came in contact with tho rulers of the Craft conld boar testimony to the excellent way in which all the duties were

performed . Bro . Harrison , the Chaplain , had noAv the pleasure of proposing the Prov . Grand Master , Lord Holmesdale ; he was sure the brethren would be only too anxious to drink to that esteemed brother ' s health . The Masons of Kent felt especially favoured in having so worthy a Mason at their head . This toast having been honoured , was followed by that of the Deputy Prov . G . M .

and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers p-. sfc and preseut , coupled with tho name of Bro . Bird . In replying , that brother thanked tho members for the kind sentiments expressed . He considered that their D . P . G . M . was really the right man in the right place . Any of the members of Provincial Grand Lodge Avho attend tho preliminary meetings must know how well he carries out tho duties of his office .

Great tact Avas required to govern so largo a Province . Bro . Eastes personally visits the various Lodges , and finds out for himself who are worthy of Provincial honours . Bro . Des Barres , the I . P . M ., rose : Although ho could not call tho next toast a royal one , he felt ho could really tcrni _ it a vicc-regnl one , as it Avas tho health of a real good representative of King Solomon . Their present Master might bo

relied on , and dining his year of office the work of the Lodge would ho well and faithfull y performed . Bro . Des Banes announced that the balance sheet of the Lodge showed that tho receipts from all sources were ; l ; 90 2 s Gd , and the expenditure £ 75 ISs 7 d , the balance , together with the amount brought forward , now amounted to £ 58 < Js Gd ; he considered this a most satisfactory statement , and had

pleasure in handing over the Lodge in so prosperous a condition to his successor . The AV . M ., in replying , said that ho was afraid the brethren had expressed too good aa opinion of him , but he was certain if it was in his power hoAVould , dining his term , merit their good H-ishes . ^ Bro . ' s and other visitors Avho had favoured the Lodge by their presence , and tho Lodge was formally closed . The brethren ad . journed to tho Eoyal Hotel to a banquet , Avhich mot with general

approval . After grace had been said by the Chaplain , the W . M . proceeded to give the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts . In calling upon the brethren to drink the health of the Qneeu , the AV . M . felt sure ho should be supported by every brother present . Her Majesty is a noble lady , worthy of our respect . She is ever ready to support any charitable Institution , and generally to exert herself for the welfare of tho

country . After the National Anthem had been sung , tho W . M . gave the toast of tho Most AVorshipful Grand Master . As Masons wo conld but bo gratified at having so worthy a brother to preside over us . He hoped at the installation meeting , to bo held next week , tho Prince Avonld bo received , as he over had been in Freemasonry , with enthusiasm . The Pro G . M ., tho D . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers

were next honoured . Thoy aro ever ready to do their duty , and to render assistance to tho Craft . Bro . Usher had great pleasure in responding . At Masonic meetings it was only necessary to mention the names of those at tho head of affairs to ensure a hearty recep - tion . All who came in contact with tho rulers of the Craft conld boar testimony to the excellent way in which all the duties were

performed . Bro . Harrison , the Chaplain , had noAv the pleasure of proposing the Prov . Grand Master , Lord Holmesdale ; he was sure the brethren would be only too anxious to drink to that esteemed brother ' s health . The Masons of Kent felt especially favoured in having so worthy a Mason at their head . This toast having been honoured , was followed by that of the Deputy Prov . G . M .

and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers p-. sfc and preseut , coupled with tho name of Bro . Bird . In replying , that brother thanked tho members for the kind sentiments expressed . He considered that their D . P . G . M . was really the right man in the right place . Any of the members of Provincial Grand Lodge Avho attend tho preliminary meetings must know how well he carries out tho duties of his office .

Great tact Avas required to govern so largo a Province . Bro . Eastes personally visits the various Lodges , and finds out for himself who are worthy of Provincial honours . Bro . Des Barres , the I . P . M ., rose : Although ho could not call tho next toast a royal one , he felt ho could really tcrni _ it a vicc-regnl one , as it Avas tho health of a real good representative of King Solomon . Their present Master might bo

relied on , and dining his year of office the work of the Lodge would ho well and faithfull y performed . Bro . Des Banes announced that the balance sheet of the Lodge showed that tho receipts from all sources were ; l ; 90 2 s Gd , and the expenditure £ 75 ISs 7 d , the balance , together with the amount brought forward , now amounted to £ 58 < Js Gd ; he considered this a most satisfactory statement , and had

pleasure in handing over the Lodge in so prosperous a condition to his successor . The AV . M ., in replying , said that ho was afraid the brethren had expressed too good aa opinion of him , but he was certain if it was in his power hoAVould , dining his term , merit their good H-ishes . ^ Bro .
