C . called attention to the fact that since tho last meeting of tho Lodge , tho Provincial Grand Master Bro . Sir D . Gooch Bart ., M . P ., had appointed Bro . Hume I . P . M . asP . G . D . C , and Bro . Dick Radclyffe as P . G . Steward . The brethren thereupon saluted the two new Provincial Grand Officers in due form .

Hope Lodge , No . 433 , Brightlingsea . —Tho last monthly meeting was rendered peculiarly interesting by the presentation of a P . M . ' s jewel , suitably inscribed , to W . Bro . George Riches , as a token of resppct on his leaving Brightlingsea for Gorleston , near Gt . Yarmouth . There was a large muster of the brethren in honour of the event ; and the presentation was made by the W . M . Bro . W . S . Ling , who spoke of the great interest Bro . Riches had taken in

Masonry during the past ten or twelve years , and especially of his services to the Lodge of nope . In bidding him farewell on behalf of the brethren , Bro . Ling wished Bro . Riches long lifo and prosperity among those amidst whom he was going to reside Bro . Riches , in a few well chosen words , expressed tho surprise and gratification he felt at the receipt of such a handsome token of their goodwill ; and assured them that he should never forget the kind friends ho left behind him at Brightlingsea .

Grey Friars Lodge , No . 1101 . —This Lodgo held its monthly meeting on Wednesday , the 9 th of Octobor , at the Masonio Hall , Reading . Present—Bros . Arthur Welch Prov . G . R . Dane was examined and entrusted , and upon the Lodge being opened in the second degree , Bro . Dane was passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft . The Lodge having been closed in the second degree , Bros . Dubois and A . G . White were initiated by tho W . M . in his usual impressive manner . The Lodge being closed , the brethren adjourned to the customary supper , which was followed by an agreeable musical entertainment .
