REPORTS OF MEETINGS .
We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings . — : o : — INSTALLATIONS . DUKE OP FIFE CHAPTER , No . 2345 .
Installation of Companion J . Mitchell . THE annual installation meeting was held at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , on Wednesday , 2 nd inst ., and proved a brilliant success . The working both of installation and exaltation was excellent , and the programme included a capital banquet , short , crisp speeches , and first-rate music .
Late in the evening Comp . R . J . Voisey P . A . G . D . C , who had attended Grand Chapter to be invested with the honour bestowed upon him by the Grand Z ., received a most hearty reception . The minutes of the convocation of 7 th February were
confirmed , and then the installations were proceeded with . Comp . J . Mitchell was installed Z . by Comp . Grummant , Comp . T . Morris was installed H . by Comp . Stone , Comp . C . Woods was installed J . by Comp . ' Grummant .
The following were invested Officers : A . Eobertson Treas ., F . Wilkes Sinclair S . E ., J . Smith S . N ., G . Taylor P . S ., F . Beckwith 1 st A . S ., E . Brindley 2 nd A . S ., J . A . Barton Organist , L . W . Innocent Steward , C . Patrick Janitor . Comps . B . Kench and C . Fitch presented the report of the Audit Committee , which was unanimously adopted .
Ballot was taken for , and proved unanimously in favour of Bro . Alfred Caink P . M . 1056 for exaltation . He was impressively exalted , the work being distributed thus : —Comp . Bonner as M . E . Z ., the Historical Lecture being given by Comp . Charlie Woods J ., the Symbolical Lecture by Comp . John Mitchell M . E . Z ., and the Mystical Lecture by Comp . J . Wyer P . Z .
Comp . C . Woods having reported concerning the matter , it was unanimously resolved , on the proposition of Comps . J . W . Folkard P . Z ., and A . Harvey P . Z ., that the Chapter subscribe to
the " Voisey Clothing Presentation Fund . " It was announced that the Grand Lodge and Grand Chapter clothing would be presented at a dinner at the Holborn Restaurant on Tuesday , 29 th May .
Comp . Woods reported that as S . E . he had written to congratulate their Patron , the Duke of Fife , on his appointment as Lord Lieutenant of the County of London . Comp . Sinclair S . E . read the reply received , thanking the Companions for the " kind expressions " and congratulations .
When particulars or a candidate for the next meeting had been given , and all business ended , the Chapter was closed in due form . After the banquet had been enjoyed thoroughly the M . E . Z .
Comp . John Mitchell proposed the Queen and H . R . A . Masonry , expressing the pleasure of the nation that Her Majesty was able to bear the great strain of doing so much public work at the present time .
The M . E . Z ., in proposing the Prince of Wales M . E . G . Z , said how grateful they were ( as all right thinking people in the world had shown themselves to be ) that the Prince , who was so deservedly popular , had escaped the hand of the cowardly assassin . They wished him long life and prosperity .
The M . E . Z ., in proposing the Grand Officers , said that their work was fully appreciated by the Companions . Their Past Grand Treasurer Cochrane was absent , but they were delighted that the Grand Z . had honoured Comp . Voisey , who had done so much work so well for them , as he had for many , many oilier , South London Masons .
Comp . Voisey responded in a most appropriate and welltimed speech . He was sorry he could not that evening carry out the installations of their Principals , but most delighted to get £ own late to the meeting ,

The M . E . Z . was proposed by Comp . Bonner P . Z . in most felicitous terms , and Comp . Mitchell duly responded . The M . E . Z . proposed the H . and J ., and Comps . Thomas Morris and Charlie Woods made suitable replies .
The M . E . Z . expressed his delight at welcoming among them their dear old friend Comp . Caink as an exaltee . They all knew him , and fully appreciated the advantage of his presence among them . Comp . Caink made a capital and humorous reply .
In thanking the Installing Principals the M . E . Z . eulogised the working of Comps . Grummant and Stone that evening . Comps . Grummant and Stone responded . The M . E . Z ., in welcoming the Visitors , assured them how
pleased the Chapter was to have so many distinguished Companions to act as a spur to them to do well . Comps . R . Salter P . Z . 79 , C . H . Webb P . Z . 174 , and H . Bond P . Z . 2395 replied .
In proposing the P . Zs ., the M . E . Z . pointed out the great help they were to the Chapter . Their advice and support were always forthcoming at the critical moment . It gave him very great pleasure to present , in the name of the Chapter , a P . Z . Jewel to Comp . Bonner , bearing the following inscription : —
Presented to E . COMP . S . G . BOXNEE M . E . Z . 1899-1900 , as a slight token of the respect and esteem of the Companions . In response , Comp . Bonner thanked the Companions , expressed his pleasure at being able to do something there , and promised to always do his best for the Chapter ., Comp . J . Wyer P . Z . also replied .
The M . E . Z . proposed the Officers , and Comps . A . Eobinson Treas ., F . W . Sinclair S . E ., G . Taylor P . S ., and Brindley A . S . responded . The Janitor ' s Toast closed a meeting that must at all points be recorded as a success .
MANCHESTER DRAMATIC LODGE , No . 2387 . Installation of Brother John Butterworth . rriHE annual meeting and Festival of St . John in connection -I with this Lodge took place at the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , on Thursday ,, 26 th ult ., when Brother W . Oswald Rowlands VV . M . installed into the chair of K . S . his successor
Bro . John Butterworth J . W ., and every detail was carried out in an excellent manner . He had the assistance of Past Masters Charles Swinn P . P . J . G . D . Treasurer , E . G . Simpson P . P . J . G . D . Cheshire D . C ., and that worthy and respected veteran Joseph Truelove Richardson P . P . S . G . D . Secretary .
After the reading of the summons which convened the meeting , the election of Charity Representative , and other details , the real business of the day commenced . Lodge being advanced
Bro . Rowlands , the Worshipful Master-elect , was duly presented to receive the benefits of installation , and these were conferred upon him in a Masonically characteristic and dignified manner , the Installing Master adding the necessary amount of impressiveness which the occasion demanded .

Organist 1375 , aud the music by Bro . Dr . Henry Watson Organist 2156 ) was capably rendered by musical Brethren , the composer himself accompanying on the organ . We have previously referred to this Ode in these columns , and have given particulars of its inception and object . On the present occasion it was substituted for the anthem "Behold how good and joyful . "
Something like sixty Brethren were present during Lodge business , and the major portion of these sat down to the sumptuous banquet which followed . Loyal and Masonic toasts were introduced , these being varied by musical efforts of a very competent septet consisting of Brosi Ridsdale Bowley P . M ., J , G ,
Hewson , Nelson Stokes , H . S . Greenwood , & c . Other Brethren , notably Harry Goldman and Charles Aspinall 1609 , contributed to the harmony , the former introducing a patriotic sketch entitled " Wait a week or two , " and the latter distinguishing himself by a very admirable rendering of " The Better Land . "
Amongst the principal speeches of the evening were those of the Worshipful Master and the I . P . M ., the former expressing his gratitude to the Brethren for being placed in such a high and exalted position , and promising that if they would during his year
of office make his tasks light , he would try his best to earn their approbation . The latter , to whom was presented a very handsome Past Master ' s jewel , reverted to the strong feeling of affection which had existed between the Officers of the Lod ge
