Britfcannia Hotel for tho banquet , the attendance being upwards of eighty , including tho popular Deputy of fche Province , Bro . J . S . Eastes , who in the course of his remarks later in tho evening made a forcible speech on behalf of the Charities . The regular toast list was gone through . O o o

NEW FOREST LODGE , No . 319 . THE monthly meeting was held at the Bugle Hotel , Lymington , on Tuesday , the 8 fch insfc ., when thero was a good attendance of members and visitors . Tho ceremonies of tho day were impressively performed by the W . M . Bro . C . R . Hayball , and at the close the Brethren adjourned to a banquet provided by Bro . Doro Past Master , and spent a pleasant evening together .

During the evening the Duke of Marlborough and Mr . G . B . Grundy were initiated into the mysteries of fcho Craffc , the Deputy Provincial Grand Master , Bro . Lord Valentia , occupying the Master's chair during a portion of the ceremony . There was a largo and distinguished company present . O O o

OAKLEY LODGE , No . 694 . A LARGE gathering assembled at Basingstoke on Monday , the 7 th insfc ., when Bro . J . M . Brooks was installed W . M . for the ensuing year , the interesting and impressive ceremony being performed by the Provincial Grand Master Bro . W . W . B . Beach . The W . M . appointed his Officers . There were a number of

distinguished visitors present from neighbouring Lodges , and at the conclusion of the ceremony the Brethren adjourned to the Town Hall , where a banquet was served by Bro . A . A . Aylward , of the Feathers Hotel , tho catering giving the greatest satisfaction . O O O

AT the monthly meeting hold at tho Masonic Hall , Hope Street , Liverpool , on Wednesday , 9 th insfc ., an interesting event took placo in the shape of a presentation to the wife of the I . P . M . Bro . John R . Day . The gift was a drawing-room clock , made of pierced gilt brass , relieved with enamelled panels , on which are very

beautiful floral designs . The W . M . Bro . B . T . Scott , in making tho presentation on behalf of the members , referred in felicitous terms to tho manner in which Bro . Day had discharged the duties of his Offico during the past year .

Bro . Day feelingly responded , and thanked the Brethren on behalf of Mrs . Day for their gift . O O O

form of a handsome illuminated address , was handed to fche recipient by Bro . W . W . Mellor W . M . Bro . S . J . Henochsberg also referred to fche good services which Bro . Robinson had rendered the Lodge . Bro . Robinson replied in suitable terms . O O 0

MERLIN LODGE , No . 1578 . THE annual festival was held last week afc tho Masonic Hall , Pontypridd , when Bro . Joseph David was installed W . M . for the year , the Installing Master being Bro . tho Rev . David Phillips , Radyr . Subsequently the Brethren partook of a sumptuous banquet at tho New Inn , tho W . M . presiding .

O O 0 ANCIENT BRITON LODGE , No . 1675 . THIS flourishing Lodge , consecrated seventeen years ago , assembled in the Masonic Hall , Liverpool , on the 30 th ult .

There was a numerous assembly of members ancl visiting Brethren , when Bro . Samuel M . Leigh , having completed his year as Master , vacated the Offico , and Bro . John If . G . Peak S . W . was duly installed in tho chair .

Tho Worshipful Master Elect was presented for installation , and tho ceremony was most efficiently performed by Bro . Dr . J . Kollctt Smith P . P . G . R ., oue of the founders , and first W . M . of the Lodgo . Having been installed Bro . Peak invested his Officers for the year .

The duties of tho Lodge having been concluded , the Brethren adjourned to the banquet , the menu for which reflected credit upon tho caterer , Bro . R . Capper . Tho postprandial proceedings were of a mosfc enjoyable and interesting nature , made the more so by tho high musical

performances of the Brethren so well known in connection with this Lodge , who executed the high-class programme arranged by Bro . D . J . Davies Mus . Dir ., with their usual ability . During the evening Bro . S . M . Leigh was tho recipient of a beautiful Past Master's

jewel with suitable inscription as a souvenir of his Mastership , and tho Brethren to show their further appreciation , and as a token of respect and in commemoration of his silver wedding , presented him with a case of high-class cutlery for his wife .

S . amid the hearty congratulations of a large number of his many friends and Past Masters , tho company numbering about ninety . H Mayo was presented and duly installed into the chair of fche Lodge , and he subsequently appointed tho following as his assistant Officers : —Ellinger I . P . M ., Lockett S . W ., J . T . Mayo J . W ., Thomas P . M . Treasurer , Weaver P . M . Secretary , Parrotfc S . D ., Purkess J . D ., Worfcley I . G ., Parsarum D . C , Knox Steward , Lane Tyler .

A handsome P . M . 's jewel was presented to Bro . Ellinger , for his services to the Lodge , especially during the past year as Worshipful Master . Letters were read from the Grand Master , the Deputy and Secretary of the Province , regretting their absence from the meeting .

Three candidates were proposed for initiation at tho next meeting , and the Lodge was closed . A choice banquet followed , served under the personal supervision of Bro . Mayo , and at its conclusion the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , the remarks of the different speakers being interspersed with songs , & c .
