I ^ HE long-talked-of proposal to form an annuity fund in A connection with the Ero ' vincial- Grand Lodge of Glasgow is now being pushed forward by Bro . John Graham , of Broadstone , Provincial Grand Master . At a meeting of Provincial Grand Committee the other evening
the matter was discussed in an informal way , resulting in the unanimous finding of the meeting that the time had now come for steps being taken to institute the Fund . How the money necessary for this object could be secured was left to the representatives of the Lodges to decide at a special
meeting to be called for that purpose . While all are agreed that it is desirable , and becoming the importance of so large and prosperous a Province as Glasgow , to have an annuity fund in the interest of its membership ^ there is not the same unanimity as to how the money should be obtained .
Voluntary subscriptions from Brethren is held by some as the correct manner in which the fund should be formed , while others favour a bazaar . There are those , however , who are of opinion that as the present reserve sum at the credit of the Benevolent Fund was accumulated with the
object of ultimately forming an Annuity Fund , a portion of that amount should be transferred to the new Fund . The matter now rests with the members of the Provincial Grand
Lodge , and they will have an opportunity of giving their opinions and decision , at the suggested special meeting to be held on Tuesday , 5 th April . — ' •' The Mallet , " in " Glasgow Evening News . "
