DE TATTON LODGE , No . 2144 . THE regular meeting was held at tho Town Hall , Altrincham , on Wednesday , 9 th inst ., Bro . Charles Kenworthy W . M ., J . A . Lord S . W ., J . W . Wells J . W ., H . Lord S . D ., J . G . Appleton I . G . being the Officers present .

There were also present in the way of Visitors : Bro . T . Lyndon-Wyatt 1534 , F . W . Franks 1387 , T . Brownhill 1160 , H . G . Jackson 1077 , T . B . Bailey 1568 , George Owen 992 , J . Ferguson 1045 , and A . J . Brogden 1715 , in addition to a large number of the members of the Lodge .

The Lodge was opened by fche W . M . in due form , by whom also ifc was subsequently opened in the second degree , when Bros . Banton , Booth , and Percival , after answering the questions before raising , to the satisfaction of the Lodge , were each entrusted with the test of merit ; after which the Lodge was opened in the third degree by the W . M ., who raised those Brethren .

The Lodge was closed in the third degree , by virtue , by the W . M ., who also closed it in the second degree in like manner , and it remained open in the first degree , in which , after tho customary formulae ! and expressions of hearty good wishes from Visiting Brethren , it was finally closed by the W . M . in due form .

The whole of the members and visiting Brethren then adjourned to the Festive Board , where the remainder of the evening was occupied in the usual way , Bros . Whiteside , H . Lord , T . Lyndon-Wyatt , and Bailey being the principal contributors to the programme in the matter of musical entertainment .

After the reading and confirmation of minutes , successful ballots were taken for Messrs . Arthur Wall , Manufacturer , Prestwich , Captain 3 rd V . B . Lancashire Fusiliers ; and Thomas Parker , Superintendent , Great Central Railway , Captain 4 th V . B . Manchester Regiment , who were afterwards

initiated , the former by Bro . Past Master Col . J . Howarth Clark , J . P ., V . D ., and the latter by the W . M . Bro . Ashworth also presented and explained the working tools to the candidates . Lodge having been advanced , the principal chair was taken by Bro . Major George Kershaw I . P . M ., who raised Bro . Lieut . Arthur Samuel Pearce to the sublime degree of M . M .

The Lodge was then closed in peace and harmony , after which the Brethren adjourned to supper . There was a very good attendance of members and visitors , among the latter being Bros . Walter E . THE MANCHESTER LODGE , No . 2554 . THE regular meeting was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Manchester , on Friday , llth inst ., Bro . William Charlton , J . P ., Worshipful Master . Mr . Charles Jordan , whose initiation had been deferred on more than one occasion , now made his first acquaintance with Masonic mysteries , the ceremony being performed by tho W . Bl ., assisted by Bro . A . C . K . Smith J . W ., who presented and explained the working tools to the candidate and who also delivered the ancient charge .

Afc fche festive board which followed , a very pleasant social programme of a unique kind was gone through . Bro . I . K . Haddad , a visitor from Beyrout , rendered a song in Greek , which was interpreted by his brother ( Bro . J . A . K . Haddad I . G . ) ; Bro . A . Rottmayer W . M . 317 favoured the company with one in German , very expressively sung ; Bro . Thomas Plumpton I . P . M . distinguished himself by a song in French ; and Bro . Edward Roberts P . M . 1459 followed with Irish and Dutch sketches , the other contributaries being Bros . Chas . Jordan , Alfred Wiliams , and W . J . Charlton .

ST . MARY OF THE HARBOUR LODGE , No . 2591 . THE annual installation meeting was held at the Town Hall , Shoreham , on Wednesday , 9 th inst ., when the Lodge was opened by the W . M . Bro . Charles Howard . The chief business of the meeting was the installation of Bro . Ernest Cox as W . M . for the ensuing year , the ceremony being ably performed by the

W . M . On behalf of the Brethren of the Lodge , the W . M . presented Bro . Charles Howard with a Past Master ' s gold jewel , in recognition of the admirable manner in which he had carried out his duties during the past year . The Lodge having been closed , fche Brethren adjourned to the Royal George Hotel , where they sat down to a banquet under the presidency of the newly-installed W . Bl .

The I . P . M . proposed tho Worshipful Master . Bro . Cox , he said , had shown such •excellent work in the Lodge that he had secured the confidence aud goodwill of'all the Brethren , and he was sure no more popular appointment as W . Bl . could have been inii . de .

The W . M ., on rising to respond , was warmly received . Thanking the Brethren for the hearty manner in which they had responded to the toast , he relied upon their kind support during the > ear , and trusted that by their united efforts the Lodge would be strengthened , and its finances still further increased .
