was rehearsed by Comp . Godby , the candidate being Comp . W . Goodman . A pleasant discussion followed , upon the working in this and adjoining Provinces , a general desire being expressed that , if possible , uniformity should be observed in the ceremonial .

ST . LEONARD CHAPTER , No . 1766 . THIS happy and cosy Chapter , of excellent Companions met at the Great Eastern Hotel , Bishopsgate Street , E . C , on Wednesday , to celebrate the annual festival . . Comp . S . C Kaufman M . E . Z . presided , and was supported by his Officers and the members of the Chapter . . . There were four . Candidates for exaltation , but owing to various circumstances neither of them was able to be present . The oxily business therefore was the installation of the new Principals , but the Companions

elected being all P . Z . ' s the ceremony was obviated . Comp . Kaufman therefore formally placed them in their several chairs , viz . Comp . James Speller as Z ., James Boulton P . A . G . D . C Eng . as H ., and William Gower Provincial Grand Treasurer of Essex as J . Owing to the fact that Comp . Speller has riot yet terminated his year of office as Z . of the Crusaders Chapter a dispensation was obtained from Grand Chapter , which was read after the minutes had been confirmed .

The following Officers were appointed : Comps . G . H . Clark W . M . of the St . Leonard Lodge Scribe E ., Arthur Cunnington Scribe N ., William Shurmur P . Z . P . G . S . B . Eng . Treasurer , A . A . Barnes P . S ., J . Tollworthy First A . S ., A . Greenwood Second A . S ., D . E .. Lemon D . C ., H . Prenton Organist , A . Preager and S . Batchelor Stewards , and J . Ives Janitor . A very handsome P . Z . ' s jewel was presented to the retiring First Principal by the M . E . Z ., in the name of the Chapter , for which Comp .

Kaufman pleasantly returned thanks . Comp . James Stephens sent in his resignation from the Chapter , in consequence of his multifarious duties , which quite precluded his attendance . His letter was received with much regret . The sum of five guineas was voted from the funds of the Chapter to the Girls School , to be placed on . Comp . Kaufman ' s list , as he will represent the Chapter at the forthcoming Festival . The business of the evening being finished

the Chapter was closed in due form , and the Companions adjourned to a choice banquet , prepared by Comp . Baeker . The customary complimentary speeches followed , and the evening was enlivened by a capital musical programme arranged by Comp . Henry Prenton , who was assisted by Miss Mary Spicer , Miss Wilmot Briggs , Comp . E . Delevanti , and Bro . W . H . Noel .

o o o WILLESDEN CHAPTER , No . 2489 . AT a convocation of this Chapter , held at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , W . C , on the 16 th inst ., Comps . Herbert Colquhoun Borradaile , Charles Butler , and Charles J . Marrian were elected to the chairs of Z ., H ., and J ., respectively , for the ensuing year . A Past Principal's jewel was voted tof the outgoing M . E . Z . Comp . E . R . Bkrtley Dennis . Comp . Sir Reginald Hanson , Bart ., P . G . Scribe N . was eleoted an honorary member of the Chapter .

o o o A ball was held at the Castle Hotel , Tredegar , on Thursday , 3 rd inst ., by the St . George ' s Lodge , No . 1098 , under the patronage of Lord Llangattock Prov . G . Xvf , of the Eastern Division of South "Wales , and others .
