M ., containing portraits of every brother in the Lodge , as a mark of their appreciation of his services when AV . M . 1874-5 . Bro .

Clifton expressed his heartfelt thanks in a manly reply , and remarked that nothing the brethren could have presented would be more highly valued than this album , containing their portraits , especially as it was expected , aud , he thought , undeserved . He would never forget the happy year he spent in presiding over the Commercial Lodge . This cordial and successful meeting ended at eleven o ' clock , with the National Anthem .

Bon Accord Lodge of Mark Masters . —This Lodge met at 2 Red Lion-square , on Thursday , the 17 th inst . Bro . John Perry Godfrey , of No . 1261 , was advanced and congratulated , the ceremony being ably conducted by AV . Bro . Major George Barlow , 33 ° , R . AV . Bro . Samuel Eawson , P . D . G . M . of China , who was one of the founders of the Locige , nearly thirty years ago , was unanimously reelected a member , the ballot being declared with acclamation . The revision of new Bye-laws was continued and completed , AV . Bro .

Lieutenant Colonel H . Somervillo Burnoy honoured the Lodge with his presence as a visitor . Tho brethren adjourned to banquet at 7 Vernon-place .

was opened , and tho minutes were confirmed . Tho ceremony of raising was rehearsed , W . A . Fowler acting as candidate , and the ceremony of initiation followed , Bro . Reepe candidate . The first and second sections of the first lecture were worked by the brethren , under the direction of Bro . Side , in a very perfect manner . Bros . Rogers and Fowler wore elected joining members , and Bro . Sido was electing W . M . for tho ensuing week .

United Military Lodge , No . 1536 . —How many victories havo been lost because subordinates considered the orders of their superiors unreasonable or unwise ? " Sire , " said the Marshal to Napoleon , " it la impossible to lead the troops by the route you have pointed out . " " Let mo see the order , " said Napoleon . He took ifc , read it , returned it , and only said : " That is your order ; execute it . "

Ho did execute it , and the army of Napoleon was soon bearing the victorious eagles of France across the plains of Lombardy . Equally so might the brethren havo thought ifc would be impossible for them to find tho New Masonic Hall , Plumstead , on the night of Friday , the 11 th inst ., in one of the densest and most disagreeable fogs which has

M . as to their proficiency in the science ; the same being satisfactory , they

wore prepared and introduced , and passed to the degree of F . C , in a very able manner , by the W . M . This being a military Locige , the mode of advancing from AV . to E . was perfection . Likewise a word is due to the talented Organist for the expressive rendering of Rossini ' s " Cujns Animam . " There were two gentlemen proposed for initiation , and the AV . M . brought the case of a widow of a deceased bro .

There being no other business before the Lodge , it was closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to refreshments . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given , honoured , and responded to . consecratedon the 25 th June 1875 , andnownumbers upwards of 105 members , and meets on the second Friday of every month at the Masonic Hall , adjoining the Sir Robert Peel Tavern , Crescent-road , Plumstead , where the AV . C Parkinson , the chair was occupied by Bro . G . Kelly King , who was supported by Bro . Dyte S . AV ., Palmer J . AV ., E . M . Haigh S . D ., Lee J . D ., Daniels I . G ., and Rawles Tyler . In the early part of tho proceedings , Bro . J . R . Stacey

Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , No . 1507 . —Tho regular meeting of the above was held on Friday , the 11 th inst ., at tho Metropolitan Club , King ' s Cross . Present—Bros . Michael W . was opened , and tho minutes were confirmed . Tho ceremony of raising was rehearsed , W . A . Fowler acting as candidate , and the ceremony of initiation followed , Bro . Reepe candidate . The first and second sections of the first lecture were worked by the brethren , under the direction of Bro . Side , in a very perfect manner . Bros . Rogers and Fowler wore elected joining members , and Bro . Sido was electing W . M . for tho ensuing week .

United Military Lodge , No . 1536 . —How many victories havo been lost because subordinates considered the orders of their superiors unreasonable or unwise ? wore prepared and introduced , and passed to the degree of F . C , in a very able manner , by the W . M . This being a military Locige , the mode of advancing from AV . to E . was perfection . Likewise a word is due to the talented Organist for the expressive rendering of Rossini ' s " Cujns Animam . " There were two gentlemen proposed for initiation , and the AV . M . brought the case of a widow of a deceased bro .

There being no other business before the Lodge , it was closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to refreshments . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given , honoured , and responded to . Bros . Brown , Harris , Jolly , and 0 . Hosgood responded on behalf of the Visitors . AVe may here state that this Lodge was

consecratedon the 25 th June 1875 , andnownumbers upwards of 105 members , and meets on the second Friday of every month at the Masonic Hall , adjoining the Sir Robert Peel Tavern , Crescent-road , Plumstead , where the AV . M ., his officers , and brethren generally vie with each other to carry ont the hospitality for which tho United Military Lodgo is proverbial . Edo pcrpetua .

Alexandra Palace Lodge , No . 1541 . —An emergency meeting took place at the Alexandra Palace , on Saturday , the 12 th inst . In the absence of the AV . M ., Bro . J . C Parkinson , the chair was occupied by Bro . G . Kelly King , who was supported by Bro . Dyte S . AV ., Palmer J . AV ., E . M . Haigh S . D ., Lee J . D ., Daniels I . G ., and Rawles Tyler . In the early part of tho proceedings , Bro . J . R . Stacey

P . M . and Secretary , acted as I . P . M . Tho ballot ; was taken for Messrs . George F . Harris , Alfred Stubbing , Thomas Calvert , Henry G . Gush , ancl Walter Delvalle , and being clear , those gentlemen were initiated into the Order . The chair was then vacated in favour of Bro . P . M . Stacey , who passed Bros . Arnold and Todd . of raising was then most ably rendered , Bro . Ward being the candi . date for tho sublime degree . Both AV . M . ' s conducted the proceedings in a most solemn and impressive manner . An audit committee was then appointed . Letters of apology were read from the W . M ., Bro . Parkinson , and two other brethren . The Secretary announced that tho acting W . M ., Bro .
