Brinkley 1805 . Bro . Ford was admitted a joining member of the Lodge , and Mr . R . W . Holloway was balloted for , and initiated by the W . M . Bro . A . Haig-Rrown was then duly installed into tho chair of King Solomon by the W . M . Bro . James Fraser , and the following Oflicers invested , each one receiving from the new W . M . not only the emblems of his office , but instruction in his duties : —Bros . T . Harvey

Keable M . C , J . Miller W . S ., Very Tyler . AU the appointments seemed to give satisfaction to the brethren , but those of Bros . Lacey , Newton , Dellow , and Miller were particularly welcomed . Bro . Fraser , now the I . P . M ., delivered the

several addresses , but it wns not until just upon the close of his labours that he seemed to warm to his work , when he showed that not only did he know the language of tho ritual , but was capable of giving to it both force and grace . He received a P . M . ' s jewel , and in presenting it , the W . M . observed that it had been merited , and he

hoped Bro . Fraser would long bo spared to wear the jewel and to give his able services to the Lodge . It should be stated that Bros . Lacey and 0 . H . Webb ably assisted the retiring W . M . in the onerous dnties of bis office . The balance-sheet was dnly received ; while it showed a balance due to the Treasurer of £ 1412 a 7 d , it also showed that £ 27 ls 8 d had been transferred from the General Account to

the Lodge Benevolent Fund , which , we are happy to record , has £ 50 lis 3 d invested and £ 20 6 s lOd in the Treasurer ' s hands . Grants had been made dnring the year of £ 14 14 s , to which may be added a grant of £ 5 made on Wednesday in the caso of a distressed brother . After the closing of the Lodge the brethren sat down to a banquet , admirably served , supplemented with a generous and varied supply

of wines . The toasts that followed were of the nsual kind , including tho Queen and the Craft , the M . W . Grancl Master H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , the Pro Grand Master , Deputy Grand Master , and the Grand Officers present nnd past . Tho I . P . M . proposed the health of the W . M ., observing that they had travelled through Freemasonry together , and from what had been done in the past , he was sure the

future was full of promise . The toast having been warmly drank , the W . M ., in reply , said that he appreciated the responsibility of his position , and hoped with their co-operation to go on as in the past year in joy and happiness together . He had always endeavoured to do his duty in the several offices he bad held , and he trusted he should be able to fill his present position with dignity and to the

satisfaction of the brethren . The health of fche Initiate having been proposed , honoured , and responded to , the W . M . proposed the Masonic Institutions , coupling with the toast the name of Bro . Terry . He stated that he had undertaken to serve as Steward at the forthcoming Festival on behalf of the Benevolent Institution , and hoped for that support which had hitherto been so freel y given by the

Sincerity Lodge . Tbe toast was received with enthusiasm , and in reply , Bro . Terry made a vigorous and stirring speech . He said there never was a time when help was more needed than at present ; there were 126 candidates and only 17 vacancies . Unless , therefore , tho success was greater than in the past , it would be impossible to increase the number of annuitants . Last year £ 56 , 000 was

received on behalf of the Masonic Charities , a sum that it was almost in vain to hope would be realised this year . Ifc became them all to use their best efforts in behalf of the Institution he represented . It seemed hard to send away all over a very small number indeed—men in all cases over 60 years of age , some over 70 , and yet thafc is what they mnst do . Ifc was a filial duty to support

their aged participators in Freemasonry , a lesson that was tanght in the Lectures . He appealed to a Lodge that had never failed to send a Steward to the Benevolent Institntion Festival , and if it were possible to get at the amount they had subscribed ifc would be found to exceed that of any other Lodgo in London . The annuitants were 367 in number , were spread all over England , and entailed an annual

charge of £ 12 , 800 . What , asked Brother Terry , were they to do if they did not get the necessary help ? Many spoke of " Our Charities , " but they were only " ours" when we supported tbem , and if each one contribated something according to his means there wonld bo good hope for the fnture . Bro . Terry ' s speech was received with loud cheers , and no doubt tho Worshipfnl Master's list

was snbstantially aided thereby . The W . M . proposed the healih of the I . P . M . in flattering terms , and the way in which the toast and reply was received showed that Brother Fraser is held in high estimation by the brethren of the Lodge . The toast of the Visitors followed , to which Bros . Salmon and Kni ght responded . This was followed by the toasts of the Past Masters and the Officers . Brother Seddon ,

in bis reply for the former , alluded to his enforced absence from the Lodge owing to his professional engagements , but said he had the interests of the Lodge warmly at heart . During the evening Bros . Knight , Nailor , Brinkley , Wiles , Dellow , and Bashford sang some songs , and very much contributed to tho pleasure of tho evening . The Tyler ' s toast brought the proceeding to a close . We should add that Bro . J . Very discharged the duties of Tyler in a very efficient manner .

LODGE OF HARMONY , No . 309 . THE Annual Meeting of the members of fche above Lodge , was held at the Red Lion Hotel on Thursday the 3 rd inst ,, when Brother the Rev . A . C . Hervey , of Portchester , was installed as the W . M . for the year . Tho impressive ceremony was conducted with marked ability by Bro . Edward Goldsmith ( Hambledon ) , the outgoing W . M ., to whom a special vote of thanks was awarded , together with a P . M . ' s jewel , in appreciation of the efficiency with which he had conducted
