REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

CRAFT : METROPOLITAN

GALLERY LODGE , No . 1928 . THE annual pic-nic , held on Saturday , 4 th inst ., at Broadstairs , must be chronicled as one of the most enjoyable excursions ever organised by this prosperous body of Freemasons . Leaving Victoria station at 10 ' 45 by the new morning Granville of the Chatham and Dover Railway—travelling in saloon carriages , and accompanied by Mr . Francis Walsh , representing Mr . John Morgan the Secretary of the Company—the party reached the most p icturesque of Kent watering places after an exceedingly smart run , with stoppages at Heme Hill and Margate only .

Private carriages , supplied by Mr . Whiting , were waiting at Broadstairs station , and in these the members of the Lodge drove , with their friends , to the Assembly Rooms , where an admirable champagne luncheon was served by the Army and Navy Co-operative Society , under the direction of Mr . R . W . Wynne , the manager of the refreshment department of the Stores ,

Victoria Street , Westminster . The Worshipful Master of the Lodge Bro . Percy Wallis presided . Bro . the Rev . R . A . Fawssett ( rector of Broadstairs ) Senior Warden and Chaplain , J . F . May Secretary , Harvey I . P . M ., Blackburn P . M ., H . F . . Ford P . M ., and Bro . Whiting , all of the Bradstow Lodge , No . 2448 , were among the company .

Bro . Cowell proposed the Gallery Lodge , and on behalf of the Bradstow Lodge , gave the visitors a hearty greeting . Bro . Husk briefly responded , and reciprocated the kindly sentiments expressed by the proposer of the toast . Mr . Francis Walsh replied for the visitors , stating that his chief , Mr . John Morgan , the Secretary of the London , Chatham and Dover Railway Company , regretted that he was unable to accept the invitation given to him to attend the pic-nic .

Bro . Perkins acknowledged the great facilities offered on this and other occasions to the Gallery Lodge by Mr . Morgan , and thanked Mr . Wynne for the excellent arrangements made for luncheon by the Army and Navy Co-operative Society . Bro . T . P . Swaine photographed the party in the ornamental gardens on the sea front , and they then drove through Ramsgate , Pegwell Bay , and Minster . Tea was served at 6 o ' clock , and subsequently one-half of the

company returned to London , the other remaining to spend the week-end at Broadstairs . The latter made the Llanadern Boarding House , 2 Chandos Square , their headquarters , and on Sunday their guests of the previous day —Che Worshipful Master and members of Bradstow Lodge—became their hosts , and drove them in breaks to the old town of Sandwich . Throughout the holiday the weather was delightful * and no hitch of any sorb occurred to mar the pleasure of the party . The arrangements for the excursion were made by Bro . Perkins , who was complimented on their complete success .

DUKE OF ALBANY LODGE , No . 1963 . THE installation meeting was held on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell , when Bro . C . James was placed in . the chair , in succession to Bro . C . Donaldson , who , at a later period of the evening , was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel , and heartily congratulated on his work in the chair and as Installing Master .

ROBERT BURNS LODGE , No . 25 . A MEETING of this most flourishing Lodge of Instruction was held at the popular Frascati Restaurant , Oxford Street , W ., on Tuesday Bro . R . H . Nichols W . M ., J . C . Scarlett S . W ., 0 . G . Ridgway J . W ., C . Drake S . D ., J . W . Hunt J . D ., H . Ramsbottom I . G ., J . Blundell P . M . Treas ., Sillitoe Sec , E . C . Mulvey P . M . The W . M . rehearsed the . ceremony of initiation , Bro . Truman candidate . The Lodge was advanced to the second degree , and Bro . Pettit was passed . We compliment the W . M . on the excellency of his working . Bro . Scarlett was unanimously elected W . M . for next meeting .

We highly recommend this Instruction Lodge , which is under the able preceptorship of Bro . E . C . Mulvey , and we feel sure Brethren desiring to improve themselves will always receive a hearty welcome .

WESTBOURNE LODGE , No . 733 . AT the weekly meeting , held at the Oliver Arms , Harrow Road , on Tuesday , Bro . T . W . Mogford W . M ., G . Miller S . W ., F . Playford P . M . J . W ., G . D . Lodge was opened to the second degree . Bro . Halston answered questions leading to the third , and the ceremony of raising was rehearsed in a masterly manner by the W . M ., Bro . Rogers candidate . Lodge was resumed to the first degree , when it was proposed by Bro . G . D . Mogford and seconded by Bro . Dehane , that a hearty vote of congratulation be entered on the minutes to Bro . P . M . Playford on his being apnointed Prov . G . A . D . C . of Middlesex . "

Bro . Playford in a neat speech sincerely thanked the Brethren for their very kind expressions of congratulation . A vote of thanks was passed to the W . M . for the most impressive way he worked the third ceremony for the first time . Bro . Miller was elected W . M . for next meeting .

WHITTINGTON LODGE , No . 862 . rnHE regular weekly meeting was held on Wednesday , at Bro . Percy JL Day ' s , tbe Red Lion , Poppin ' s Court , Fleet Street , Bro . J . C . Tilt P . M . W . The W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of raising , Bro . H . Kobelt candidate . The ceremony was rendered by the W . M . in his usual perfect manner . Afterwards the able Preceptor , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the first section of the third lecture . Bro . Berry was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing week .

LONDESBOROUGH LODGE , No . 1681 . THE usual meeting was held at the Berkeley Arms , John Street , Mayfair , on Wednesday , Bro . E . Lewis W . M ., F . B . Mills S . W ., F . H . Vant J . W ., E . 0 . Mulvey P . M . Preceptor and S . D ., Corry P . M . Sec , T . Stickland P . M . J . D ., J . Wynman I . G ., Kelly , Thorn , Hogg , Hutchings , Wall , Allen , and others .

Lodge was opened to the second degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed , Bro . J . Wall candidate . Lodge resumed to the first degree , when the able Preceptor , with the assistance of the Brethren , worked the second section of the lecture . Bro . Mills was unanimously elected W . M for next meeting .

PROVINCIAL

ST . PETER LODGE , No . 442 . THE Brethren of Peterborough went somewhat outside the limits of their compasses on Thursday , 2 nd inst ., by including the fair sex in one of their festive gatherings , the invitation being to accompany the Brethren on a visit to Leamington , Warwick , and Stratford . Saloon carriages were provided for the convenience of the party , who were joined at the G . N . Station by contingents from Spalding and Boston , who , with their wives and friends , were on the same pleasure bent . The party numbered altogether about ninety .

Leamington was reached at 10-45 , and before visiting other places of interest , luncheon was provided at the Bath Hotel ; after which conveyances took the party to Stratford-on-Avon , a spot full of interest to all who visit that historical place . Warwick was visited en route , and the fine old castle , standing in beautiful grounds , was also inspected with much interest . Leaving Warwick , a lovely drive through Sherbourne and Charlecot Park

brought , the party to Stratford , where a lengthened stay was made in order that as much as possible could be seen of the many Shakespearian associations of the place , chiefly the new Memorial Theatre and Museum , Holy Trinity Church , and the Poet ' s birth-place . The return journey to Leamington was then made , and on arrival dinner was provided at the Bath

Hotel , the party subsequently returning home filled with the pleasantest recollections of a delightful day ' s excursion to one of England ' s most picturesque and historical centres of interest . The day ' s programme had oeen arranged by the W . M . of St . Peter ' s Lodge Bro . I . Whitsed , and to him the thanks of the- whole party are due for having undertaken the difficult task of arranging for the comfort and enjoyment of so many .

BENEVOLENCE LODGE , No . 666 . THE annual meeting was held at Princetown , Dartmoor , on Wednesday , 8 th inst ., when there was a large attendance of Brethren , including several Provincial Officers from Plymouth and other towns . The W . M .-elect Bro . Thomas Robinson was installed by Bro . E . Ellis P . M . and Secretary

P . P . G . S . B . At the close of business the Brethren adjourned to the Duchy Hotel , where the annual banquet was held . During the evening Bro . C . White P . M . was presented with a beautiful silver-mounted walking-stick , as a token of respect from the Brethren , on his leaving the Moor .

BRIDGEWATER LODGE , No . 1213 . ON Thursday , 9 th inst ., the annual pic-nic took place , when fifty-one members and their wives went in special saloon to Chester . The Officers of the Lodge , Bros . J . K . McMyn W . M ., C . F . Moring S . W ., J . 0 . Mclntyre J . W ., and a number of the Past Masters , were present . The train left Eccles at 9 ' 47 , Chester being reached at eleven o ' clock , and at half-past

luncheon was provided at the Hop Pole Hotel . At one o'clock the party proceeded to the river , where a steamer had been specially chartered for them , their destination being Eccleston Ferry , and a visit to the gardens and Eaton Hall , the seat of the Duke of Westminster . This was reached at a quarter to two , and up to five o ' clock a most delightful time was spent

m the beautiful grounds and hot houses . The Hall itself was next inspected and much admired . The return from Eaton was punctually carried out at 5 p . m ., the Hop Pole being reached at 6 o ' clock . Tne day had been fine and warm up to this time , when , for about an hour-and-a-half , a heavy storm prevailed . However , as this was the time dinner was being served , the party suffered no inconvenience .

After dinner , when the loyal toasts had been given , Bro . Adams P . M ., in a short but emphatic manner proposed the health of the W . M . and Mrs . McMyn , which was received in a very hearty manner . After a song by Bro . G . W . Dransfield the W . M . very suitably responded . It being now fine , a short time was'spent in the city , and the home journey was commenced at about 8 ' 45 , Eccles being reached at ton o ' clock .

The arrangements had been carefully carried out by Bros . J . Andrew , R . H . Robinson , ancl Jas . S . Watson , who , by their untiring attention to the comfort of tha party , succeeded in making the pic-nic one of the most enjoyable the Lodge has had .

TOXTETH LODGE , No . 1356 . THE members assembled on Wednesday , 8 th inst ., in great force at the Masonic Hall , North Hill Street , Liverpool , for the annual installation . The chair was occupied by Bro . John Lloyd W . M ., and Bro . G . Davies was installed by Bro . Chas . Arden P . M . P . P . G . S . B . Treasurer , ably assisted by Bro . E . George P . M . P . P . G . D . C . The Brethren , ab out 120 in number , afterwards sat down to an excellent repast provided by Bro . Jas . Casey .

During the after proceedings a beautiful Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . John Lloyd I . P . M ., also a very handsome marble time-piece and a gold ring for Mrs . Lloyd , as a token of esteem and regard , and to mark the appreciation of thc Brethren generally for his services during the past year .

TOXTETH LODGE , No . 1356 . THE members assembled on Wednesday , 8 th inst ., in great force at the Masonic Hall , North Hill Street , Liverpool , for the annual installation . The chair was occupied by Bro . John Lloyd W . M ., and Bro . G . Davies was installed by Bro . Chas . Arden P . M . P . P . G . S . B . Treasurer , ably assisted by Bro . E . George P . M . P . P . G . D . C . The Brethren , ab out 120 in number , afterwards sat down to an excellent repast provided by Bro . Jas . Casey .

During the after proceedings a beautiful Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . John Lloyd I . P . M ., also a very handsome marble time-piece and a gold ring for Mrs . Lloyd , as a token of esteem and regard , and to mark the appreciation of thc Brethren generally for his services during the past year .
