Lodge Of Instruction , No . 581 . —The ordinary meeting of this Lodge was held at the Old Boar's Head , Withy Grove , Manchester , on Tuesday , the 30 th nlfc . Present : —Bros . H . H . after which the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The I . G . now anuounoed that Bro . Fred Hilton , the newly-invested Provincial Grand Director of Ceremonies desired admittance , and upon the entry into Lodge of that Officer , ho was saluted by the brethren with Provincial Grand honours . The principal ohair was then assumed by Bro . Geo . Parker , who opened

fche Lodge in fche second degree , and who put the nsnal interrogatories fco Bro . Marshall , the candidate for raising . The questions being answered in a satisfactory manner , Bro . Marshall was entrusted with the test of merit , aud afterwards raised to the sublime degree by Bro . Parker . Bro . Bee , in a very admirable manner explained the

working tools , whilst Bro . Beever delivered the traditional history . It was announced that the following brethren were desirous of becoming members , viz ., Bro . Hubert James Owen 2447 and Bro . Herbert Hellewell 1458 . The Lodge was then closed with prayer and in harmony by Bro . Parker , afc 9-10 p . m .

. Chiswick Lodge of Instruction , No . 2012 . —Held on I Saturday , the 10 th inst ., at the Windsor Castle Hotel , King Street , Hammersmith . Present : —Bros . A . Williams P . M . W . M ., MoDermott S . W ., Whiteley J . W , M . Spiegel P . M . Secretary , Hide S . D ., J . Brown P . M . J . D ., Gumming P . M . I . G ., F . Craggs acting as Preceptor , Baxter , Reid , Powell , Arnfield , Hatton . The Lodge was duly opened and the minntes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Reid being a candidate for passing was examined and entrusted .

The Lodge was opened in the second degree and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . Bro . Hatton being a candidate for raising was examined and entrusted . The Lodge was opened in tbe third degree , and tho ceremony of raising was rehearsed . Lodge was resumed to fche first degree . Bro . MeDerroott was elected W . M . for next Saturday . The brethren of the Lodge ottered a hearty congratulation to Bro . A . Williams on his election on the Board of General Purposes . The Lodge was closed in due form .

Wo shall be obliged if tlio brethren of Manchester and tho surrounding- districts will tako notice that Brother Edward Roberts P . M . is our only representative for thafc part of England . All orders should either be given to him or scut direct to our office .

An entirely new drama of the present day will very shortly be produced at the Adelphi , in which Miss Elizabeth Robins , Mis * Gertrude Kingston , Miss Fanny Brougb , Mr . Charles Warner , Mr . Charles Cartwright , and Mr . Arthur Williams will take part . Mr . and Mrs . Clement Scott and Mr . Austin Brereton should arrive

in London to-day ( Saturday ) from N » w York , having left there by the s . s . fimbria on Saturday last , in order to be present afc the opening of Mr . Daily's new theatre . We understand that owing to the decorations being delayed , the opening of the season has been postponed nntil Tuesday , 27 th inst ., instead of the 20 th , as previously arranged , when "The Taming of the Shrew " will be performed .

Madame Patti will appear for the lasfc time this season at a grand morning performance , whioh will be held at tbe Albert Hall on tbe 1 st proximo . " Niobe" was performed afc fche Strand for fche 500 th time lasfc Monday evening .

" Beckefc" was presented for fche 100 th time at fche Lyceum on Friday last . The 100 th performance of " The Amazons " will take place afc the Court , on Thursday , the 22 nd inst .

PRESENTATION TO BRO . A . H . SCURRAH .

AFTER the meeting of the Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , on the 12 th inst ., the brethren assembled fco witness the pleasing ceremony of presenting Bro . A . H . Sourrah with his full dress and undress Provincial clothing of P . G . Supt . of Works of the Province of Middlesex , presented by the brethren of the Henry Levander and Hendon Lodges . We may mention thafc Bro . Sourrah is a Pasfc Masfcer

of the Henry Levander Lodge and the Worshipfnl Master of the Hendon Lodge . The pleasing duty of presenting the gifts was placed in the hands of Bro . Scurrah ' s old friend , Bro . W . M . Stiles , who in very impressive and earnest words , expressed to Bro . Sourrah the high esteem the brethren held him in , and hoped he wonld consider ifc

an honour to be the recipient of suoh a testimonial , and trusted he wonld live many years to wear his Provincial clothing and to retain a lasting recollection of so pleasing an event iu his Masonio career . Bro . Scurrah replied in feeling terms , expressing his gratitude and the honour conferred upon him . He hoped in time to convince the brethren how much he appreciated their good wishes and kind esteem .
