— : o : — CONSECRATION OF THE PICKWICK LODGE ,

No . 2467 . THE consecration of this Lodge took place on Tuesday , the 13 th inst ., at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , E . G ., the ceremony being ably and impressively performed by the Grand Secretary , Bro . Edward Letchworth , assisted by other Grand Officers . After the ceremonv of consecration had been completed Bro . Letchworth

installed Bro . Major Benniogfield P . M . 1589 as the first Worshipfnl Master of the Lodge . The W . M . then invested the following as his Officers : —Bros . W . Nichols P . M . 463 S . W ., H . Manby P . M . Ill J . W ., H . Jacobs 206 Treasurer , W . E . Blake 855 Secretary . E . Holland 1708 S . D ., F . Blake P . M . 410 J . D ., C . Sorivenor P . M . 203 I . G ., G . Brown 2256 Director of Ceremonies , AV . Dyer 831 Stoward . Several

propositions for initiation and joining were received , and other business having been transacted , the Lodge was closed . A magnificent banquet followed , reflecting great credit dfi Bro . A . Clemow and Bro . Evans . Bro . Major Benningfield , the W . M ., gave tho toasts in a manner that clearly proved ho was no novice at the business . He recommended the brethren in their replies to be brief ,

and the speakers acted on his suggestion . The toasts of the Queen and the Craft , and H . R . H . the Prince of Wales were most enthusiastically received , as also was that of the Grand Officers . Bro . W . Nichols responded on behalf of the Officers of the Lodge , and intimated to the W . M . the high esteem in which he was held by the brethren , and promised on behalf of himself and the other Officers

that they would do all in their power to help him carry out his important duties . Bro . Manby also replied , promising to do all he could for the Lodge , which he hoped would be able to support the Masonio Charities in a manner befitting the Pickwick Lodge . The Tyler ' s toast was shortly afterwards given , and the brethren departed

thoroughly well pleased with the successful result of their endeavour ? , and with fche happy and pleasant evening they had spent . The musical arrangements wore under the direction of Bro . W . Wright P . P . G . O . Middlesex , who was assisted by Bro . Schartau , whose efforts to please were most successful and gave great satisfaction to the members and visitors .

SUN , SQUARE AND COMPASSES LODGE , No . 119 . BROTHER RPV . James Anderson W . M . Skiddaw Lod <; e , No . 1002 , and Past Prov . Grand Chaplain of the Province of Cumberland and Westmorland , was recently elected W . M . of the senior Lodge of the Province , viz ., Sun Square and Compasses Lodge , No . 119 . This is quite an exceptional case , as it is perhaps not in the

recollection of the oldest Past Master of tho Province , For the same brother to be an actual Master of two Lodges the samo year , and it is only by virtue of tho authority of tho Most Worshipfnl Grand Master that such a thiu <* can be . We wish our Rev . Brother may havo a successful year of office . His installation will take place the first Monday in July .

LODGE OF INTEGRITY , No . 163 . fjpHE regular meeting of this Lodge was held at the Freemasons ' -L ^ Hall , Manchester , on Wednesday , the 31 st ult . The principal business of the evening was the raising to the sublime degree of Bros . William Norton and Joseph Grime , who had previously qnalified themselves by their mode of answering the usual questions . Bro . J . M . Sinclair P . M . raised Bro . Norton , while Bro . SohoHield

W . M . performed a similar duty with regard to Bro . Grime , and , as according to bye-law , the meetings of the Lodge aro suspended during the months of June , July , and August , these ceremonies formed a fitting termination to a very successful session . It was announced fchat the annual picnic , shortly to take place , wonld be to

the Bakeries . At the festive board which followed , Loyal and Masonio toasts were proposed and responded to , that of the W . M ., proposed by Bro . Hiller , receiving an admirable reply from Bro . Scholfield , while that of the Officers of the Lodge , proposed by Bro . Ben Williams P . M ., received a suitable response from Bro . Hepworth .

Brother Walker assured the Worshipful Master and all present how much ho valued thia recognition , whioh would always remind him of happy times with the Peace and Harmony Lodge , with whom , as a P . M ., he hoped to remain for many years . After routine business Lodge olosed , and the brethren , numbering about 100 , adjourned to an excellent

banquet . The Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly proposed and hearoily honoured , and the evening was enhanced by the excellent singing of Mrs . Watson Walker ( Madame Minnie Curtis ) . The Visitors all expressed the great pleasure and satisfaction their visit to Dover afforded them , and about 11 o ' clock the Tyler ' s toast oloaed the meeting .

SUNDERLAND LODGE OF UNITY , No . 460 . THE usual monthly meeting was held on Friday , tho 26 th ult ., at the Castle Hotel , Newcastle-nnder-Lyme . There was a very large gathering of members and visitors . Bro . T . Edwards W . M . presided , and opened the Lodge , when Bro . Lient .-Colonel Bindley D . P . G . M ., acting in charge of the Province , was announced as seeking admission . He then entered the Lodge , accompanied by the Present and Past Provincial Grand Officers , and was received with

the usual customary honours by a very large gathering of the brethren present . Bro . Lieut-Col . Bindley gave an address to tho brethren , and then asked the Worshipful Master to conduct ! tho business of the meeting , whioh was to raise Bro . T . Johnson Salt to tbe degree of M . M . A Masonio paper— "Beauties and Sequences of tho Masonio Ritual "—wan read by Bro . E . V . Greatbach P . P . G .

Supt . of Works , and listened to with much pleasure . The Officers present were Bro ? . T . W . Eardley I . P . M ., F . Skerrett P . M . S . W ., T . C . A . Edgoworth J . W . and Chaplain , S . Hunt , and under the genial Chairmanship of Brother T .

Edwards , who was supported on his right by Bros . Lieut .-Colonel Biudloy D . P . G . M ., in charge of the Province , and T . Taylor P . P . G . S . W . Tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts wero proposed aud responded to with heartiness and enthusiasm , and the Lodge gleo party made their debut on this occasion . Songs were given by several of the brethren , and a very pleasant evening was spent .

ST . EDWARD'S LODGE , No . 966 . ON Thursday , the Sth inst ., a silver tankard and oak cabinet were presented to Bro . W . Allen VV . M . of the above Lodge , on the occasion of the 30 fch anniversary of the date of warrant , he being

the only surviving founder . The presentation was made by Bro . J . C . Clemesha I . P . M . in appropriate terms , and othor brethren also made suitable speeches . A . parchment scroll , hearing the following inscription , accompanied the gifts : — " St . Edward ' s Lodge , No . 966 , Leek . The acompanying cup and cabinet were presented by the brethren to Worshipful Brother Wm .

Edwards , who was supported on his right by Bros . Lieut .-Colonel Biudloy D . P . G . M ., in charge of the Province , and T . Taylor P . P . G . S . W . Tho usual Loyal and Masonic toasts wero proposed aud responded to with heartiness and enthusiasm , and the Lodge gleo party made their debut on this occasion . Songs were given by several of the brethren , and a very pleasant evening was spent .

ST . EDWARD'S LODGE , No . 966 . ON Thursday , the Sth inst ., a silver tankard and oak cabinet were presented to Bro . W . Allen VV . M . of the above Lodge , on the occasion of the 30 fch anniversary of the date of warrant , he being

the only surviving founder . The presentation was made by Bro . J . C . Clemesha I . P . M . in appropriate terms , and othor brethren also made suitable speeches . A . parchment scroll , hearing the following inscription , accompanied the gifts : — " St . Edward ' s Lodge , No . 966 , Leek . The acompanying cup and cabinet were presented by the brethren to Worshipful Brother Wm .
