A MEETING was held at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , Loudon , E . G ., on Tnesday . Tbere was a very good attendance of the * " * . tbren , under the presidency of Bro . H . Nash , the W . M . Bros . K'ngston and Usher were passed . A light repast was afterwards cn joyed by the members and their visitors .

X Strond , on Friday , tbe 9 th inst ., when Bro . R . P . Snmner was installed as Worshipfnl Master for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was performed by Bro . J . Campbell , the retiring Master of the Lodge , assisted by the Deputy Provincial Grand Maiter , Bro . R . V . Va-isar-Smitb . The following brethren were elected the Officers for the year : —Bros . Sir Lionel Darel S . W ., W . B . Wood J . W ., Canon Parker Chaplain , J . Brnton Treasurer , M . H .

A MEETING of this flourishing Lodge was held on Thursday , the 8 th inst ., at the Public Hall , Loughton . The W . M . Bro . W . J Shadrake presided , and he was snpported by Past Masters Thos . T . After the Lodge had been formally opened

Bro . James Stevens ( of Bristol ) was raised , and Bro . Link was pissed , the W . M . conducting the ceremonies in a thoroughly efficient manner . Bro . Day , tho S . W ., was elected W . M . for the next twelve months ' , and Bro . Holloway P . M . was unanimously re-elected Treasurer . Bro . Goddard P . M ., on show of hands , was re-appointed Tyler . Bro . Inner Guard Cuthbert was appointed one of the Auditors

in place of Bro . Thompson , who retires by effluxion of time . It was agreed that a P . M . ' s jewel be presented to Bro . Shadrake , in recogni . tion of his services in the chair . The question of better accommodation for the furniture and properties of tho Lodge was now considered . It was argned that the furniture was continually being ranaged by the hanling it underwent in being conveyed np and

down to the loft whero it was stored . Some consider , able dismission onsned , and eventually it was decided that the Trustees of the Public Hall shonld be approached with a view that better provision shonld in futnre be made . Pending this , the expediency of spsnding a sum of money in repairs and renovafci ms was held over for futnre consideration . This completed the

business and Lodge was closed , and adjourned till October . A banqnet followed , provided by Bro . Slawson . The W . M ., who makes an excellent chairman , briefly introduced the toasts , and the responses were well to tbe point . As nsnal at this Lodge music was well represented ; Bro . Fenton , and others distinguishing themselves ;

Bro . De Lolla gave one of his " combination" performances , aad was deservedly encored . Bros . James Stevens aud W . W . Morgan gave recitations . During the evening the " Charity " box was brought prominently forward , with a result that a sum of no less than ten guineas was made np .

TILBURY LODGE . No . 2006 .

riiBE annual festival ot this Lodge , and the installation of fche new J Worshipful Master for the ensuing twelve months , took place on the 10 th inst ., at the Tilbury Hotel , and the members , being fortunately favoured with fine weather , assembled in strong force . presented their report ; from this we gathered that the sum of £ 30 12 s 6 d had been voted to the Masonic Charities . Bros . Walter Christie and W . E . Newcombe were raised to the snblime degree by the W . M ., a'id it is interesting to note that Bro . Christie was invested with the apron formerly worn by his grandfather and father . Tho certificate of his grandfather , dated 1825 , was also exhibited in the

Lodge . The installation ceremony was then proceeded with , Bro ^ E . H . Baily being the Installing Master . Bro . W . W . Barber S . W . having been elected W . M . by the brethren , was bronght before tbe Lodge and answered the usual questions . He was subsequently coudncted to the chair in due form , and was sainted by the brethren in the three degrees . The newly-made Master then appointed and invested

the fjllowing Officers .- —Bros . W . J . Crump S . W ., J . Bruton J . W ., W . L . Dudgeon Secretary , Bradshaw Brown Dir . of Cars ., Dr . F . H . Davies S . D ., W . Buttery J . D ., W . H . Lockey Steward , Walter Christie I G . Bro . A . J . Dudgeon was re-elected Treasurer , and upon the show of hands Bro . A . W . Martin was appointed Tyler . A Past Master ' s jewel was then presented to Bro . Kirby I . P . M ., and

appropriately acknowledged . The resignation of a member was reported and accepted , with regret . The business of the meeting being thus bronght to a termination , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the brethren adjourned to the new Falcon Hotel , Gravesend , ap , owing to a change in the arrangements at Tilbury , the banquet conld not be held there . Every preparation had

been made by Brother J . E . Shrnbsole , and an excellent dinner was served in the newly restored hall , pleasantly overlooking the river . The nsnal Loyal and Masonio toasts were given and received with dne honour , Bro . Col . Jas . Peters responding for the Grand Officers , and Bro . Lennox Browne returning thanks for the Prov . Grand Officers . Bro . E . H . Bailey proposed the health of the

W . M . in felicitous terms , and remarked that his well known ability in Masonio work would do credit to the Lodge . He would render him all the assistance he possibly could , and heartily wished him a successful year of office . The W . M . briefly acknowledged the compliment , and said that his dnties and responsibilities would be considerably lightened as he could rely upon the officers of the Lodge

for loyal assistance . After Bros . Pullen P . M . and G . E . Gilbert had returned thanks for the visitors , Bro . Kirby I . P . M . took advantage , in replying to the toast of his health , to thank the Lodge for presenting him with the jewel , which he should highly esteem , as expressing the good wishes of tbe brethren . He had tried to do his very best , and he trusted that he bad been successful . He had now migrated to

another district , bnt he would attend the Lodge as frequently as possible . In the present Master , he was assured , they had a Brother who wonld fill the chair with credit to himself and honour to the Lodge . Bro . Baily , in response to the toast of Installing Master , stated the great pleasure he had in acting in that capacity ; he was alway , glad to work the ceremony and regretted that owing to lack of

time he had been obliged to hurry it through . The Senior and Junior Wardens returned thanks for the Officers , and tbe Tyler's toast brought tbe proceedings to a pleasant termination . Daring the evening some capital songs were given by Bros . J . A . Brown , Wilford Price , Arthnr Thomas and F . C . Ahlfeldfc ; Bro . Alfred Smythson ably presided at the piano .

THE installation of Bro . J . B . Marjerison as W . M . of thia Lodge took placo on the 6 th inst ., at the Masonio Buildings , Lord-street , Southport , the Installing Officer being Bro . Mella , New Cross Lodge , No . 1559 , wero elected members of ihis Lodge of Instrnction . Bro . E . J . D . Bromley was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . Tbe W . M .

elect appointed his Officeis in rotation , and announced his intention to rehearse the second ant ? third degrees . The Preceptor proposed tbat a hearty and cordial vote of thanks be accorded on the minutes to Bro . (' . O . Burgess for the very admirable manner in which ho had

occupied tbe chair , for tho first time , and for tho splendid way > which be had worked . Tto details wero perfect , and the W . M . mast have studied hard to attiin such perfection . The W . M . mado a suitable reply . Nothing farther offering , Lodge was closed and adjourned .

A Past Master ' s jewel was then presented to Bro . Kirby I . P . M ., and

appropriately acknowledged . The resignation of a member was reported and accepted , with regret . The business of the meeting being thus bronght to a termination , the Lodge was closed in perfect harmony , and the brethren adjourned to the new Falcon Hotel , Gravesend , ap , owing to a change in the arrangements at Tilbury , the banquet conld not be held there . Every preparation had

been made by Brother J . E . Shrnbsole , and an excellent dinner was served in the newly restored hall , pleasantly overlooking the river . The nsnal Loyal and Masonio toasts were given and received with dne honour , Bro . Col . Jas . Peters responding for the Grand Officers , and Bro . Lennox Browne returning thanks for the Prov . Grand Officers . Bro . E . H . Bailey proposed the health of the

W . M . in felicitous terms , and remarked that his well known ability in Masonio work would do credit to the Lodge . He would render him all the assistance he possibly could , and heartily wished him a successful year of office . The W . M . briefly acknowledged the compliment , and said that his dnties and responsibilities would be considerably lightened as he could rely upon the officers of the Lodge

for loyal assistance . After Bros . Pullen P . M . and G . E . Gilbert had returned thanks for the visitors , Bro . Kirby I . P . M . took advantage , in replying to the toast of his health , to thank the Lodge for presenting him with the jewel , which he should highly esteem , as expressing the good wishes of tbe brethren . He had tried to do his very best , and he trusted that he bad been successful . He had now migrated to

another district , bnt he would attend the Lodge as frequently as possible . In the present Master , he was assured , they had a Brother who wonld fill the chair with credit to himself and honour to the Lodge . Bro . Baily , in response to the toast of Installing Master , stated the great pleasure he had in acting in that capacity ; he was alway , glad to work the ceremony and regretted that owing to lack of

time he had been obliged to hurry it through . The Senior and Junior Wardens returned thanks for the Officers , and tbe Tyler's toast brought tbe proceedings to a pleasant termination . Daring the evening some capital songs were given by Bros . J . A . Brown , Wilford Price , Arthnr Thomas and F . C . Ahlfeldfc ; Bro . Alfred Smythson ably presided at the piano .

Mella , New Cross Lodge , No . 1559 , wero elected members of ihis Lodge of Instrnction . Bro . E . J . D . Bromley was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . Tbe W . M .

elect appointed his Officeis in rotation , and announced his intention to rehearse the second ant ? third degrees . The Preceptor proposed tbat a hearty and cordial vote of thanks be accorded on the minutes to Bro . (' . O . Burgess for the very admirable manner in which ho had

occupied tbe chair , for tho first time , and for tho splendid way > which be had worked . Tto details wero perfect , and the W . M . mast have studied hard to attiin such perfection . The W . M . mado a suitable reply . Nothing farther offering , Lodge was closed and adjourned .
