THE half-yearly meeting was held at Ripon , on Wednesday , 7 th instant , under the banner of the Prince Leopold Lod # e , No . 352 . The Prince Leopold Lodge was opened at three o ' clock by the W . M ., the Rev . VV . 0 . Lukis . Two Master Masons , Bros . Parker and Hutchinson , were regularly advanced to the degree of a Mark

any word is necessary to explain the reason of our meeting at Ripon , having had a Provincial Grand Lodge of Emergency here in last April . Then we met to consecrate the Lodge under whose banner we are assembled to-day ; now we are specially asked to be present and assist at the installation of Bro . Smith as the W . M . for the

ensuing year . I congratulate the Prince Leopold brethren on the steady progress they have made during the first year of their existence , and I am sure all the members of Provincial Grand Lodge join me in wishing tho new Master , Bro . Smith , a happy and prosperous year of office . In November last we rather unexpectedly received a

notice of the proposed alteration of the Book of Constitutions , and a draft copy was sent for inspection . I regret the matter was so hurried ; indeed the time was so short that we conld not call the General Purposes Committee together to consider them . I do not know how far the altered Book of Constitutions may affect our

Provincial Grand Lodge bye-laws . But it will be desirable as soon as the new Constitutions are published for the Committee to meet and carefully consider them . There is one alteration in the Book of Constitutions which will be satisfactory to all . It has enabled Grand Lodge to elect H . R . H . the Prince of Wales as Grand Mark Master .

We may congratulate ourselves on the distinguished honour conferred on our Order by the acceptance of the position of Grand Mark Master by bis Royal Highness , which , I am sure , will be very beneficial to the Order . Brethren , it will devolve upon you to-day to nominate a Provincial Grand Master , as my time of office , iu

accordance with the Constitutions of the Order , will expire next September . I desire most heartily to thank the brethren for all the kind and loyal support given to me during my term of office , which I shall always remember with pleasure . I trust , brethren , that you will not allow kindly feelings to bias you in your choice to-day , for I

can assure you that , whoever it may be , he shall have from me all the assistance and help ho may need . Brethren , we require still a little more perseverance in some of our Lodges . Many are working well , but some are flagging . May I ask the help and assistance of the active members in promoting the welfare of all the Lodges in the

Province ? " The roll of Lodges having been called , it was found that with one exception all were represented . The minutes of the Provincial Grand Lodge , held at Halifax , on Wednesday , the 11 th October last , having been confirmed , apologies for non-attendance wero read from several Provincial Grand Officers . The Worshipful

Deputy Provincial Grand Master ( Bro . the Rev . W . 0 . Lukis ) proposed , the Provincial Grand Registrar ( Bro . W . F . Tomlinson ) seconded , and the Provincial Grand Master Overseer ( Bro . Rev . Dr . Smyth ) supported , a resolution , nominating Bro . C . L . Mason for reappointment by the Grand Master for the ensuing three years . This

resolution was unanimously adopted . The Provincial Grand Master , in acknowledging the resolution , said that he would endeavour in tho future , as he had done in tho past , to do all he possibly could for the welfare of the Order in the Province . Invitations were tendered from Leeds aud Sheffield for the Provincial

Grand Lodge to hold its next meeting in those town ? , and the Provincial Grand Master intimated that those invitations shonld receive dne attention . Provincial Grand Lodge was then closed , and

the brethren adjourned to the Unicorn Inn , where Bro . Colhnson had made ample arrangements for their comfort . The usual Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and a very pleasaut evening was passed by the brethren .
