believed that the acme of the Order has been arrived at . There ia , however , as every Master Mason knows , certain things whioh are left in store for him , shonld he be fortunate in obtaining a knowledge of them , and they will ho found in the development of the supreme degree of the Holy Royal Arch ; and therefore all its

ceremonies are regarded with that veneration which is due to this exalted degree . There are but few of its members who are sufficiently versed in the Ritual of the ceremonies of installation of its Principals as to undertake the treble duty when required , and therefore , when it was announced that three Acting Principals in the

Metropolitan Chapter of Improvement wonld instal their successors , an unusual amount of interest was felt in the gathering on this occasion . The convocation for this purpose was held at an earlier hour than usual on Tuesday , 13 th inst ., at the White Hart Tavern , Abchurch Lane , City , and as the ceremonies announced are so

seldom rehearsed , the gathering was attended by some of the most eminent and exalted members of the dogre . Amongst those present , we noticed Comps . H . Ruff P . Z . 95 , Strngnell P . Z . 1044 , H . Thompson P . Z . 619 , Dr . Pridmore P . Z . 619 , Home P . Z . 7 , Webb P . Z . Stanmore Chapter , Middlesex , C . Daniel P . Z . 65 , Knight Z . 174 ,

Brooks Z . 975 , Ferry Z . 65 , Frazer Z . 214 , Gillard Z . 19 , Smart Z . 766 , Notley Z . elect 7 , Charles Z . elect 19 , Roberts Z . elect 65 , Wells H . elect 1556 , Payne H . elect 1524 , Haynes H . elect 65 , Beedell J . 538 , Jeffs J . elect 19 , and many other Principals and Past Principals . The Chapter having been opened in due form , the

Installation of the three Principals was rehearsed by Comps . Webb Z ., Fraser H ., and Gillard J ., and it is not too much to say tho whole of these interesting ceremonies are rarely given in so perfect a manner as they were rendered on this occasion , and there waa a concurrent opinion that the highest praise was dne to Comp . Brown , the

Preceptor of the Chapter , for what he had done in bringing about so satisfactory a result . The rest of the Companions were afterwards admitted , and tbe ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed by Comps . Notley 1 ., Payne H ., Ruff J ., Brown S . E . and Preceptor , Webb S . N ., Beedell P . Z ., Comp . Haynes being the candidate . The ceremony

being brought to a conclusion , it was proposed , and unanimously carried , that a vote of thanks should be recorded on the minutes to the three Principals who had rehearsed the ceremonies . The following were elected Officers for the ensuing fortnight—Comps . Webb Z ., Ruff H ., Jeffs J ., Jones S . N ., Payne P . S . It was announced that

Comps . Brooks , Hall , and Notley had undertaken to rehearse the Installation ceremonies on Tuesday , the 11 th of May , the last time they will be rehearsed this season , and it is hoped that a large gathering of Principals will attend on that occasion . Since this

Chapter of Improvement has been removed to its present place of meeting it is every night numerously attended , and those aspirants for distinction in this supreme degree will find it a great advantage to them to receive the instruction here to be obtained . The Ritual of

the degree is communicated in its greatest purity by its talented Preceptor , who is most painstaking in his endeavours to make all his pupils proficient as Royal Arch Masons , and fit them to fill any office in the Chapter to which hereafter they may be called .

The North London Chapter of Improrement maintains the goodly attendances that have been the rule of late . The ceremony of exaltation was ably rehearsed on Thursday by Companions Dean M . E . Z ., Radcliffe H ., J . Strugnell J . The other offices were filled as under : —Comps . Sheffield S . B ., Bird S . N ., Edmonds P . S .
