fllHE installation meeting was held , on the 9 th inst ., at Freemasons ' - * - Hall , London , W . C . Lodge was opened by the W . M . Brother W . H . Herbert , who was supported by his Officers . The minutes of last meeting having been read and confirmed , the report of the Audit Committee and Benevolent Fund Statement of Accounts was presented , and adopted . Bro . E . W . Allon now took the Chair for the

purpose of installing the new W . M . Bro . Alfred Moore ( a gentlemau associated with the old firm of " clockista " so well known in Clerkenwell ) . The ceremony was carried out in its entirety in a very improssive manner , and the addresses wore eloquently given . Bro . Moore invested the following as his Officers : —W . H . Herbert I . P . M .

closed . The banquet was most bountifully served , and gave every satisfaction . The tables were neatly decorated with flowers . The speeches throughout the evening were commendably brief , and the guests , some 90 all told , enjoyed themselves immensely . The card of Invitation , the Menu , and the Toast List were artistio productions ,

which will be prized by those who were fortunate in securing copies . The musical arrangements were under the direotion of Bro . Charles Tinney , who was assisted by the Misses Ethel Bevans and Kate Norman , with the ever popular Bro . Henry Guy . Bro . George

E . Fairohild during the evening favoured the company with a recitation— "The Death of the Old Squire , " for whioh he won unqualified praise . In conolusion we may add , that there were no less than 43 Installed Masters present at the "function " of tho evening .

The Lodge was opened with solemn prayer , and the minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed . In the second degree Bros . Whittaker and Veder , being present to tako third degreo , wero

interrogated as to their proficiency in the second , and having satisfactorily answered , withdrew . Subsequently Bro . Whittaker was raised to tho sublime degree of a M . M . by the W . M ., Bro . Vultchoff , and Bro . Veder had a similar distinction conferred upon him by Brc . Bushell P . M ., who also gave the traditional history and explanation

of the tracing board to both brethren . The Lodge being duly lowered to the first degree , the S . W . Bro . Staton announced that Bro . Cunliffe P . M . P . P . G . D . had most genorously volunteered to attend and serve as Steward at tho next Festival of tho Roya ! Masonio Institution for Boys .

Master , was duly inducted into the chair of K . S . with all due riteand ceremony , and in that careful and painstaking manner for which Bro . Wilson is renowned . Bro . Brookes P . Bro , Halden delivered the three addresses , and there being no further business , the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony at 6 ' 20 , Prior to the Lodgo dosing a handsome 18-carat . gold P . M . ' s jewel was presented to Bro . Geo . Everatt in recognition of his services as W . M , during the past year , for which the I . P . M . returned thanks in appropriate terms . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival

of St . John at a banquet , and the usual toast list was gone through . The health of the W . M . was proposed by the I . P . M . and heartily drank , Bro . Allott singing " Here ' s to his Health . " " The Immortal memory of Shakespeare" was ably proposed by Bro . Brookes , in a capital and a propoa speech , which was attentively listened to and deservedly applauded . The toast was drank in silence . The health of tho I . P . M ., The Visitors , Installing Master , Officers , & c , was proposed aud responded to and a very enjoyable evening was spent .

'T ^ HE installation ot Bro . Councillor Wilson took plaoe , and the X St . Johu ' s Festival was celebrated in Freemasons' Hall , Cooper Street , on Saturday , the 9 th inst . The ordinary Lodge night iB the second Tuesday in the month , bur . being market day , and consequently very inconvenient , for tho majority of tho brethren to attend so early in the afternoon , leavo was given from headquarters to hold tho installation meeting on the day mentioned above . Amongst those

The brethren met at 3 ' 30 , when the Lodgo was opened with solemn prayer , and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . In the second degree , Bro . Wilson was presented to the Installing Master ( Bro . Moss ) , and after the usual preliminaries , and with all due rite and ceremony ,

inducted into the chair of K . S . On the re-admission of all M . M . 's the usual proclamation was made , and salutes given , after wbioh , the following brethren were invested Offioers for the ensuing year by Bro . Carr P . M ., Anderton jun . S . W ., Ashworth J . W ., Irlam P . M . Treasurer , Moss P . M . Secretary , Falknell S . D ., Loebell J . D ., Jefferis P . M . P . P . G . D . C . Dir . of Cers ., Ellwood I . G . The addressee

were delivered respectively by Bros . Jefferis P . M . P . P . G . D . C , Carr and Irlam , and there being no further business the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony . The St . John ' s Festival was subsequently celebrated with a banquet , after which the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , that of the W . M . being received with applause and heartily drank ; Bro . Wilson being extremely popular and much

liked . The health of the I . P . M . Bro . Lewis was proposed in glowing terms , and an elegant P . M . ' s jewel presented to him for services rendered during the past year . The jewel was handed round for inspection , and was much admired , being manufactured by Bro . H . T . Lamb , Clerkenwell , London . The remaining toasts , the

Installing and Assistant Installing Masters , Visitors , Officers , & c , were proposed and responded to . The following brethren rendered valuable aid with their singing and reciting : —Bros . Hardaore , Dottie , Black P . P . J . D ., Smith , Anderton jun ., and Bradbury , Bro . Hopkinson W . M . 1459 was an efficient accompanist .

MACDONALD LODGE , No . 1216 . rilHE 24 th installation meeting of this Lodgo , established in 1868 , X in connection with the 1 st Surrey Rifle Volunteer Corps , waa

held at the Surrey Masonio Hall , Camberwell , S . E ., on Thursday , the 7 th inst ., and waa well attended . The Lodge was opened by the W . M . Bro . Harvey , and the minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed Bro . Villiers , No . 20 , Colonel of the First Surrey Rifles , was unanimously elected a joining member . Bro . England was raised to the degree of M . M . Bro . White the W . M . elect was

then presented for installation and was inducted into the chair of K . S , by his prodecossor in the office in accordance with ancient custom and the invariable practice in this Lodge . The ceremony was ably conducted throughout by Bro . Harvey , who , on investiture as Immediate Past Master , received , at the hands of his snccesssor , a valuable Past Master ' s jewel of similar character to those presented

to former outgoing Masters . The newly-installed Master appointed and invested the following brethren as Officers , viz . ;—Bros . Baxter S . W ., Marshall J . W ., C . H . Nevill P . M . In addition to these brethren there were also present during the evening Bros . Stevens , Harper , Hale , Style , Davis , Bradley , Cranch , Fitzer , and Waterall , Past Masters ; Player , Payne , Hinton , Poole , Pearce , Homming , Williams , and others . Visitors : —Bros . 1658 , Scott 857 , Dubois 1216 , Cureton 2182 , Jewaon 1827 , and Simpson 597 , Bro . Whito W . M . then initiated in a most perfect manner Messrs . F . J . Pullen and F . B . Williams , the newly-appointed officers discharging their respective duties admirably , and affording strong assurance that the " Macdonald work " for the ensuing year will maintain tho high prestige with which it has ever been associated .

On the motion of Bro . Bridges P . M ., it was unanimously resolved that a Past Trf-nsurer ' s jewel should be presented to Bro . Captain Sfcyan , on his retirement from that office . The report of the Audit Committee , which was of a moat favourable character in respect of finances , aud contained a recommendation for a slight addition to tho subscription fee , was approved and adopted ; and , after tho

disposal of some Grilling routine business and the expression of " Hearty good wishes " from the visitors , the Lodge was closed . Tho whole of the work of the evening waa excellently performed , without hasto or hesitation , in a little more than three hours , and shortly after seven o ' clock the brethren re-assembled in the handsome sallc i \ manger on the basement floor of the Masonic Hall , where a woll

provided banquet awaited their attention , and over which the W . M . presided . The post prandial proceedings were highly enjoyable , and wore characterised by brevity of speech and devotion to harmony and general entertainment . A response from the newly-initiated brother , F . J . Pullen , was a record as a maiden Masonio speech .

For the visitors tho first six above named brethren severally spoke in terras of commendation of both the Masonic work and refreshment in which they had shared . Bro . Pearce most agreoably occupied a brief half hour by clover feats of sleight of hand , and practically reminded iiis numerous friends that , as regards hasty decisions , thoy should remember that they had been " taught to be cautious .
