The Walthamstow Lodge of Instruction has removed . from the Lord Brooke , to the Chequers Hotel , High Street ,

Walthamstow , where the weekly meetings will be continued on Mondays , at 8 p . m . * * *

The Woodrow Lodge of Instruction , formerly attached to Lodge 1708 , will in future work under authority from the St . Pancras Lodge , No . 2271 , the weekly meetings being held

as heretofore , on Monday afternoons , at 3 p . m ., at Brother Rudderforth ' s Restaurant , 24 Panton Street , Haymarket . This is a very popular Lodge of Instruction , and the meetings are usually well attended .

The annual banquet of the Metropolitan Lodge of Instruction , No . 1056 , postponed from 25 th January , will take place at Anderton ' s Hotel , Fleet Street , on Friday , 22 nd insL rJro . F . P . Weinel P . M . P . Z . Preceptor will

preside , assisted by Bros . A . B . Clayton S . W . 1686 and G . Knights W . M . 1828 . Ladies and non-Masonic friends may be introduced at the gathering , and it is hoped hearty support and assistance will be given in making the fixture a success worthy of the occasion . The price of tickets is 6 s each , for

Lady or Gentleman , and morning dress is ordered . Tickets may be had -of Bro . W . R . Witt P . M . Secretary- at 12 Giltspur Street , E . C .

An event , probably unique in North Shields , took place in the Albion Assembly Rooms of that town last month . It was a gathering under the banner of Freemasonry , and was

novel trom the fact that ladies were present by invitation . The proceedings were under the auspices of the Lindisfarne Lodge , No . 2762 , and did every credit to the youngest Masonic Institution in the borough of Tynemouth .

At the Masonic Hall , St . Michael ' s Rise , Bournemouth , on Monday of . last week , Bro . C . T . Miles P . M . 195 and 2158 was presented with a silver cigar case and an illuminated address as a token of the regard and esteem in which he is held by the members , on the occasion of his resigning the

office of Preceptor of the local Lodge of Instruction , a position he had occupied since the formation of the Lodge . There was a large gathering of Masons from the various Lodges in the district . The cigar case bore a suitable inscription . Bro . J . J . Brazier , in making the presentation ,

referred to the unvarying courtesy and tact and the thorough knowledge of the regulations and landmarks of the Craft possessed by Bro . Miles , and to the benefits accruing to the members and Orficers of Lodges affiliated with the Lodge of Instruction . All the members very much regretted his

retirement , and he would carry with him the hearty good wishes of them all . Bro . C . T . ' Miles , in reply , said he heartily appreciated their expression of goodwill , and also mentioned some of the salient points in the history of the Lodge , and the number of Brethren who had held office thereinand

, repeated what a pleasure it nad been to him to associate with them . It had been quite a labour of love , and the work had been as helpful to himself as it was to the Brethren . He mentioned as an interesting feature that through the agency of the Charities Association in connection with the

Lodge a sum of over £ 120 had been subscribed to Masonic Charities . Pie thanked the Brethren for the consideration and attention paid by them to his ruling , and acknowledged the valuable help of Bro . W . Plankinson , who was no ordinary Secretary , and whose services he thought very highly of .

At the monthly meeting of Guy ' s Lodge , at Leamington , on Monday , 4 th inst , it was decided that a presentation

should be made to Bro . J . Glover P . M . P . P . G . A . P ., to commemorate the completion of fifty years as a subscribing member of the Lodge . The Worshipful Master explained that the state of Bro . Glover ' s health was such that it was

impossible for him to attend to receive an address and the honorary membership of the Lodge , as proposed , and he suggested that a deputation consisting of himself , Brother Overell P . M ., and the Secretary Bro . Archer should wait on

Bro . Glover on Tuesday . The deputation attended , and made the presentation on behalf of the Lodge , and Bro . Glover feelingly acknowledged the mark of esteem bestowed upon him .

Few people know , says the " Westminster Gazette , " that Covent Garden Theatre was founded in 1808 by the then Prince of Wales in his capacity of Grand Master , assisted by the Grand Lodge ; or that Flenry VII ., in a Lodge of

Master Masons , founded his chapel at Westminster Abbey . Sir Christopher Wren , in like manner—himself a Grand Master—founded St . Paul ' s with his Lodge of Masters , the trowel and mallet then used being still in preservation .
