West Srrssthfield Lodge , Mo . 1623 . KNOWING by experience the excellent work done , and the cordiality and true Masonic characteristics of the members Of the Mother Lodge and the Chapter attached thereto , we were by no means surprised to find the same manifestations at this Instruction Lodge , which we visited on Wednesday , at the house of Bro . J . R . L . Daish , the City Scotch Stores , 27 Knightrider Street , E . G .

The special feature of the meeting was the working of the Fifteen Sections , among those officiating being Bro . C . A . Barter W . M . of the Mother Lodge , whose action in thus taking a prominent part in the work of his Instruction Lodge is worthy of approval and might be generally imitated by other Masters similarly circumstanced . The Lodge was opened'at 6 . 30 p . m ., there being a large

attendance , including Bros . John Knight I . P . M . S 61 as W . M ., I . P . Wemel P . M . 1828 , the popular Preceptor of the Lodge as I . P . M ., H . Whitney P . M . 861 as S . W ., C . A . ; . : The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and Bros . P . Waldvogel P . M . 1828 , P . K . Rotenberger 1623 , and Fred . Will . Trotter 2182 brought the Sections to a most successful conclusion . The whole of the work reflected the greatest credit on the Brethren who answered the questions , as well as on the worthy president Bro . John Knight ,

who did so much to ensure the success of the meeting , by . the ability he displayed in the chair . The Lodge was resumed to the first degree . Several new members were elected , and Bro . Redfearn P . M . acknowledged the compliment on behalf of himself and the others . He expressed himself highly delighted with the excellent working he had witnessed . that evening .

Bro . Weinel said he could not propose that the W . M . should become an Honorary Member of the Lodge as he already enjoyed that distinction , but it was just and fair ta propose that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes for the excellent manner in which he had presided . He was sure the Brethren had enjoyed the work done that evening .

Brother H . Hill P . M . in a few complimentary words had very much pleasure in seconding the proposition . Bro . H . Whitney P . M . S . W . said he was pleased to support , and in so doing congratulated the W . M . on his faultless working . He hoped Bro . Knight might be spared for many , many years , to go through the beautiful Sections again .

Brother Knight acknowledged the compliment paid him , and promised to do everything in his power for the benefit of the Lodge . He knew the Sections were appreciated by the Brethren ; they were beneficial for the Past Masters , and especially so for the younger members . The Section working had been neglected for a long time , but it should not occur again . He was delighted to see that the

Brethren who had entered their names to work the Sections had been present , without an exception , and they had clone their work without the slightest hitch ; it had been a credit to them all . He felt he must say . ai few special words concerning Bro . Whitney theS . W ., who had been an excellent supporter of the Lodge , ready and willing to assist

those who required it . He proposed that Bro . Whitney be elected an honorary member , for the great assistance he had rendered that evening . It had been a grand meeting , and for that thanks were due to Bro . Hoffmann , the Secretary , who was a hard working and enthusiastic Mason ; it was a pleasure to have such an able Secretary for the Lodge .

Bro . Wemel said he had much pleasure in seconding the proposition that Bro . Whitney should be elected an honorary member ; he knew it was a hard trial for him to attend , on account of his wife ' s illness , but they were pleased to see him that evening , and thanked him for his excellent assistance .

Bro . Hoffmann had much pleasure in supporting it , and also acknowledged the compliment paid himself . The proposition was agreed to . Bro . Whitney thanked the W . M . and Officers for having elecced him an honorary member , also for the sympathy expressed on hii
