and the mere fact that two Freemason visitors were among them was sufficient to arouse the kindest sentiments among tho brethren of that city . They decided to give a grand banquet in honour of their guests , but this was prevented , as he and his brother were unable to stay for it . When he found it was all but certain he should spend

a greater part of tho coming year in England , he decided lie should Jiko to join an English Lodge , where he might have an opportunity of ooutinuiug the pleasant associations which wero always connected with such an Institution ; there was then no wonder ho should select a Lodge in a district with which ho was intimately associated , and

thus he had joined the Chiswick Lodge , to the members of which he was deeply grateful for the hearty reception they had accorded hirn . The knowledge of the great influence which Masonry exercised was

the reason wh y he and other members of his lamily were so pleised to be associated with it , and ho hoped that the same friendly relations might always continue . He concluded by again thanking the members for tho readiness and cordialitv with which thov had

welcomed him—a Lodgeles 3 wanderer in Britain—to a participation m thrir benefits . As wo have already said , tho usual toast list was gone thvough , but tho exigencies of tho train servico necessitated several of the brethren leaving at this part of the evening ' s proceedings .
