Bro . Hutchinson , in responding , said he had endeavoured to do what he considered to be his duty to the Lodge , and he was pleased be had given such satisfaction .

JOSIAH WEDGWOOD LODGE / No . 2214 .

THE installation took place on the 28 th ult ., at the Wesleynn Sohool , Etruria , in the presence of a large gathering . The installation ceremony was very effectively performed by the retiring W . M ., Bro . White , who was ably assisted by Bros . Richard Tooth P . P . G . Registrar and E . B . Jackson P . P . G . Superintendent of Works . Bro . L . A . Taylor having been installed , appointed . is Officers .

Before the Lodge was closed the I . P . M . was presented with a Past Master ' s jewel , whioh had been subscribed for by the Lodge , as a recognition of Bro . White ' s excellent services , anc the able manner in whioh he had filled the chair dnring the last two years . Bro . Taylor , in investing Bro . White with the jawel , paid a high tribute to the efficient manner in whioh he had performed the duties

of Worshipful Master , and said that the way he had conducted the various ceremonies daring the past two years had won the admiration not only of the brethren of the Lodge , bnt all the visitors who had witnessed the working . Bro . White suitably acknowledged the presentation , testifying to the aid he had received at the hands of hia Officers . His

object , { he said , had been to make Freemasonry more popular and admired ; and if throngh his exertions he had farthered the interests of tho Craft he was satisfied . In conclusion , a vote of thanks was cordially extended to Bro . Hedge , the retiring Secretary , several brethren testifying to the ability he bad displayed in the discharge of the duties of his office .

On the Lodge being closed the brethren adjonrned to the Victoria Hotel , to banquet . The W . M . presided , and the usual toasts wore honoured . ' In proposing the toast of tbe Provincial Officers Brother Spencer Till referred to the fact that the Prov . Grand Master had recognised the progress of tbe Josiah Wedgwood Lodge—a

Lodge whioh was out of debt , and had increased greatly in number . Bro . White submitted the toast of the newly-elected W . M ., expressing confidence that he would worthily fulfil the office of Master , Brother Taylor acknowledged the toast , promising to endeavour to emulate the preceding brethren , who had so ably discharged the duties of W . M .

CHOUGH LODGE , No . 2264

THE installation meeting was held on the 28 th nit ., nt tho Cannon Street Hotel , Bro . Ebenezer Piggott W . M . Nearly ninety brethren were present . The W . M . elect was Bro . J . W . Dewsnap , a Past Master of several Lodges , a founder , nnd the first and only Secretary of the Chough Lodge . The performance of tho ceremony of installation was divided into parts , which wero taken respectively by the outgoing Master ( Bro . Piggott ) , Bro . Massered , and Brother

Edwards , and the work was efficiently performed . The following brethren received collars : —Bros . Ebenezer Piggott I . P . M ., George S . Miller S . W ., W . C . Smith J . W ., W . B . Marcus P . M . Treasurer , A . Haynes Secretary , J . F . Percival S . D ., W . V . Jull J . D ., H . Saqai I . G ., J . W . Breeze D . C , J . Tnrle Leo Organist , M . J . Almond and A . Strngnell Stewards , and T . Bowler Tyler .

A banquet followed , and the usual Loyal and Masonio toasts were honoured . When the W . M . proposed the health of the I . P . M . he presented Bro . Piggott with a magnificent gold jewel of a Past Master , which had been unhesitatingly voted by the members of the Lodges in acknowledgment of Bro . Figgott's successful year of Mastership . The Chough Lodge having originated with the Chough Amateur

Musical Society , musio always takes a front place at tbe meetings , and on this occasion the toast * were interspersed with some lovely singing , under tho direction of Bro . Turle Lee , by Miss Ada Patter , son , MisS Minnie Chamberlain , Bro . J . Miillerhausen , Bro . Miles Mole , Bro , Frank Swinford , Bro . Arthur Strngnell , and Bro . Fred . Bevan ,

THE regular meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel , Manchester , on Monday , the 2 nd inst ., Bro . Major John Heap W . M . There were also present : —Broa . Capt . A . Allinson Hinde J . Brigade Surgeon Lieut . Col . Duncan , M . B ., 3 rd V . B . M . R . and of the Army Medical

Reserve , which proved favourable . . Bro . Sidebotham was then questioned by the W . M . as to his proficiency in the first degree , and having acquitted himielf satisfactorily he was passed into the degree of a F . C . by Bro . Colonel Rocca , who performed the whole of the ceremony . The election of Officers afterwards took place , Bro . D , P . Soloss

Uigsoa ( 859 Isaac Newton Lodge ) King ' s College , Cambridge University , was proposed by Bro . Capt . Andrew , and seconded by Colonel Rocca as a joining member . Thc first business was tho reading and confirmation of tho minutes of the last regular and two emergency meetings . Tho ceremony of passing was then performe J , Bro . R , E . Musical 1 being the candidate . The ceremony of raising was next proceeded with , when the following brethren were introdnoed to the W . M .,

who performed this very interesting ceremony : Bro . 0 . L . Hayman , J . Hayman , A . H . H . Niblett , J . A . Remain , and A . W , Ueapy . Various matters of minor business were disposed of , and the Lodge was closed , the brethren subsequently dining together at Freemasons ' Tavern .

At the conclusion of the dinner the loyal toasts were given , and heartily acknowledged . The I . P . M . submitted the toast of tho W . M . He did so , he said , with great pleasure , as he knew by actual experience the capabilities of Bro . Hitching . The Master , as most of them were aware , was a thoroughly good and substantial man , and a thoroughly good

brother , a man with a big heart , and a Mason they could thoroughly depend npon . In him the Lodge had one who would do his duty and who might be relied on to persevere and conquer . Ho was a very busy man , and had but little time , bnt all the same he could bs relied npon to carry out his duties in the Lodge to the satisfaction of the members and with ultimate benefit to thorn

He felt that whatever words were uttered in praise of Bro . Hitching they would be no more than he deserved , and he also felt no one could more sincerely wish him success than he did in proposing his health BB Master of their Lodge . The VV . M . tendered his hearty acknowledgments , and thanked the members most sincerely for their reception of him that night . He

trusted that while he remained in office there would bo no discordant note to disturb the harmony that now existed in the Lodge , but that all would go on with the good feeling that was now manifest . The members might rely on his carrying out the work that was placed under his control in tbe most thorough manner it was in his power to command , and be hoped for the very best results .

The toast of the Visitors was next given from the ohair . Tbe Master expressed the pleasnre it gave him to see so many gnosis that evening , us tho Lodge has always made a feature of extending a hearty welcome to visitors , and the members were glad to know that their efforts iu that direction wero appreciated . On behalf of tho Lodge he expressed gratification at the attendance of their friends ,

and hoped they had all enjoyed themselves . Responding on behalf of the Visitors , Bro . Lieut .-Col . W . H . Cob made some flattering remarks . The Warrant Officers Lodge , he said , was only three and a-half years old , and had over a hundred members on its books ; he was naturally gratifi d at its present very satisfactory position . He woll remembered being present on several

occasions , and considered tbe founders had evory reason to be proud of tho work that had taken place in it since its consecration ; He felt sure the W . M . would have tbe snpport of the members , jnst as they io turn would have the best attention Bro . Hitching could give them , aud continued success should be tbe result . Bro . Major Woolmer Williams P . M . 569 was next called upon , and

in tbe course of his reply he spoke in tho same eulogistic terms of tbe brethren , and expressed the especial pleasure he had that night experienced in witnessing the unexampled work of the Lodge . Brother Benstead 700 followed in the same strain . He knew the W . M . was certain to prove a credit to the Lodge . He hoped the members would give him plenty of work to keep him fully employed ,

and enable him to demonstrate what he was capable of ; it would ba a grout thing for Freemasonry if every Master was ai fit aud as fully qualified for the work as he . Bro . W . R . Blood 730 ( I . C ) next responded . He congratulated the Lodge on its Master , its three really capable Past Masters , and ita efficient Officers .

Bros . Keen , Goulston , Simmons , Reade , Healey , Surmon , Stevens , and Deleay also acknowledged the toast . The toast of the I . P . M . was not given , owing to the absence of Bro . A . Molony from the dinner , a bereavement iu hu family being the cause . In submitting the next toast the W . M . said it was one always

received with cordiality in their Lodge—the health of tho Past Masters , and on this occasion he intended to coaplo with it tho health of the Treasurer and Secretary . Tho best he could say of the brethren included in this joint toast was that they were always ready and willing to assist the Master in the work of the Lodge . Etch of the brethren he referred to was ready at all times with co-operatiou and advice whioh was very necessary for a Master to have . The Treasurer
