BENEVOLENT LODGE , No . 446 . THE fifty-ninth anniversary was held in the Vicar's Hall , Wells , on the 5 th inst ., when there wasa'large attendance of Brethren . The W . M . Bro . J . Coates , in conjunction with the Deputy P . G . M . Bro . R . C Else , installed Bro . Alfred Geo . Buss into the chair of K . S ., the ceremony being very ' -i * mpressively ~ iind * abTy performed . ' * *

The newly-elected W . M . then appointed and invested his Officers for the ensuing year , and at the close of the business the Brethren adjourned to the Swan Hotel , where the banquet was -held .

LODGE OF SYMPATHY , No . 483 . AT a meeting of this Lodge , held at the Clarendon Hotel , Gravesend , on Wednesday , Bro . H ' Forss W . M . presided , and was assisted by Bros . William Hawker . S . Edward Tall , and proving unanimous he was admitted and regularly initiated into the privileges of the Craft .

The Lodge was opened in the second degree , when Bros . William Wilson , T . Dl Gee , and Ernest C . Pprtoh were advanced as Fellow Crafts . The Lod ' ge was then opened in the third degree , and Bro . Henry Cavill *^ as raised as a Master Mason . ihe ceremony of passing was worked by Brother T . H . Lygo , and the other two by the W . M ., in the usual masterly manner observed in this Lodge .

The application for a Royal Arch Chapter in connection with the Lodge having been confirmed , the names of several Companions were received who were anxious to become Founders . > The first step in connection with the establishment of a Masonic Temple at Gravesend " Va ' s taken by a proposition' th ' at'the Officers of the Lodge should

confer . with the Officers of the Lodge of Freedom for that purpose . '•' The'VV brshipful Master having received the hearty good wishes of the visiting Brethren the Lodge was closed and the company adjourned to supper . A very enjoyable evening followed , Brothers Drake , Gee , Andrews , Beamish and Matthews contributing to the harmony .

P . M . Ronaldson announced that in all probability the preparatory Grand Lodge meeting would be held at Gravesend this year , and expressed the hope that Brother James S . Eastes the Deputy Provincial Grand Master would , by that time , be sufficiently recovered to attend . " Brother Beamish , in proposing the health of the W . M ., referred to the admirable manner in which all the Officers of the Lodge had performed their duties , and said this desirable result was no doubt due to Brother Forss , who was the Preceptor of the Lodge of instruction . "

Brother Hogg referred to the remarkable progress that the Lodge had made during this last few years , and hoped it would soon become the first in the Province . After the Initiate had been complimented , tho visitors returned thanks , and the Tyler brought the proceedings to a happy finish .

TEMPLE LODGE , No . 558 . rilHE annual installation festival took place on the 3 rd inst ., at the I Masonic Hall , Folkestone , when Brother Harry Gilbert Clements was placed in the chair by his predecessor Brother Clifford James Saunders , who rendered the ceremony in a most masterly manner . A large number of Brethren , including Bro . Sturgeon , the Mayor , were present . A Past Master's jewel was presented to Brother Saunders for his services to the Lodge . After the ceremony the company adjourned to the Royal Pavilion Hotel , where the banquet wns served . * The " musical arrangements of the evehing were under the direction of Bros . William Francis and G . B . Morgan , the artistes including Brothers Templar Saxe , G . J . Butler , E .- Franklin , E . J . Wood , and Frederick Tyler .

ROYAL ALFRED LODGE , No . 1028 . rriHE thirty-first anniversary was held on Tuesday , 25 th ult ., in the Lodge JL Room ofthe George Hotel , Alfreton , when there was a large attendance of Brethren from all parts of the Province under Brother W . B . Taylor'Worshipful Master . After the Lodge had been opened the Worshipful Master-elect Bro . A . C . Brentnall was'installed in an able manner by the retiring Master .

CINQUE PORTS LODGE , No . 1206 . THE installation meeting was held at the Bell Hotel , Sandwich , on Tuesday , 10 th inst ., when' a large number of Brethren attended , the neighbouring Lodges being well represented . The ceremony of installing Bro . Frederic flail as W . M . was most effectively and impressively performed by Bro . R . Joynes Emmerson P . M ., ably assisted by Bro . H . Ward P . M . United Industrious Lodge , No . 31 , Canterbury , as Director of Ceremonies .

A vote of thanks was recorded to Brother F . Baker P . M ., who for many years held the office of Treasurer to the Lodge , and who , to the great regret of the Brethren , felt compelled to retire in consequence of ill-health .

M ., who also presented and explained the working tools of the degree , and delivered the E . A . Charge .

Lodge having been advanced , Bro . Lenard assumed the principal chair , and raised Bro . R . Stevenson to the sublime degree of MM . Bro . Lenard also presented the working tools , and delivered the Traditional History . The ceremonies of initiation and raising were correctly and impressively performed , and reflected great credit upon the W . M . and Brother Lenard , whose painstaking efforts were reverted to at the festive board which succeeded Lodge business .

Here the usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were honoured , the harmonious element being capably sustained by Brothers Cooper , Dean , Hebden and Bode , the latter rendering that popular Dutch song " Schneider how you vas I " in very fine style . The Brethren were accompanied on the pianoforte by the W . M . in his usual brilliant manner .

BOOTLE LODGE , No . 1473 . THE annual installation meeting took place on Thursday , 5 th inst ., in the new Masonic Hall , previously known as the Molyneux Assembly Rooms , Bootle , when Bro . Thomas Lea was installed W . M .

SIR WATKIN LODGE , No . 1477 . THERE was a good attendance at the usual monthly meeting , held at the Masonic Hall , Mold , on Monday , 24 th ult ., and the proceedings were marked with exceptional interest . ' ¦ A letter was read in acknowledgment of one sent to Her Majesty the Queen , on the occasion of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Battenberg .

TRAFFORD LODGE , No . 1496 . THE regular meeting was held at the Western Hotel , Moss Side , Manchester , on the 9 th inst ., Bro . Ramsey Knight W . M . There were also present : —Bros . Percy Land I . P . M ., Chris . Preston S . W ., Wm . Yeadon J . W ., Geo . Burslem P . M . Treas ., J . C Gillman P . P . S . G . D .

The Lodge being opened , and the minutes of the last regular meeting confirmed , the ballot was taken for Mr . Thomas Turnbull and Mr . Edward Henry Seddon ; also for Bro . Wm . Bowden , No . 277 , Ireland , as a joining member . The ballot proved unanimous , when the Brethren adjourned for tea .

On re-assembhng , Messrs . Turnbull and Seddon were regularl y initiated into Freemasonry ; the former by the W . M . in a very efficient manner ( this being his first ceremony ) and the latter by Brother P . Land I . P . M ., which requires no comment . The working tools were presented by the S . W . There not being time the ancient charges were deferred until the next meeting .

The nsual questions having been put and hearty good wishes tendered , the Lodge was closed . The Brethren then a , djourned to the festive board , when the W . M . proposed the health of the newly-initiated . He was sure from their manner and the attention they paid to the ceremony they would prove good and true Masons .

Bros . Turnbull and Seddon suitably expressed their thanks for being admitted as members of the Lodge , and hoped the Brethren would find them worthy Masons . Brother Preston S . W . proposed the new joining member , whom he had known for a long time , and was sure he would prove a worthy Brother amongst them . The toast was very suitably replied to . Other toasts followed and were heartily acknowledged .

The intervals between the toasts were enlivened with songs from Bros Lee , Morley , Russell , and Norbury .

ALBERT EDWARD LODGE , No . 1780 . THE installation and festival of St . John was held at the Masonio Hall , Southampton , on Tuesday , 3 rd inst ., the attendance of members arid visitors numbering about seventy . Among the visitors were Bros . E . Kingman P . M . 359 , A . Algar P . M . 319 , H . Rohss W . M . 1461 , E . Long W . M . 359 , T . G . Dacombe P . M . 359 , W . Mayoss P . M . 1112 , J . Hollis W . M . 394 , J . Seward Pearce P . M . 1260 , A . The sum of £ 10 10 s was voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , £ 5 5 s to the Hampshire Masonic Educational Institute , and £ 5 5 s to the Royal Masonic Institution tor Girls . The Lodge also voted £ 5 5 s to the orphans of a deceased Brother , while Brother C . H . Perreass offered an additional five guineas to be added to the amount subscribed to the Girls School .

Two gentlemen were proposed for initiation . Bro . Curtis , on behalf of the Auditors , gave a report that the Lodge was in a very sound financial position . ' Business over , the Brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet , which

On re-assembhng , Messrs . Turnbull and Seddon were regularl y initiated into Freemasonry ; the former by the W . M . in a very efficient manner ( this being his first ceremony ) and the latter by Brother P . Land I . P . M ., which requires no comment . The working tools were presented by the S . W . There not being time the ancient charges were deferred until the next meeting .

The nsual questions having been put and hearty good wishes tendered , the Lodge was closed . The Brethren then a , djourned to the festive board , when the W . M . proposed the health of the newly-initiated . He was sure from their manner and the attention they paid to the ceremony they would prove good and true Masons .

Bros . Turnbull and Seddon suitably expressed their thanks for being admitted as members of the Lodge , and hoped the Brethren would find them worthy Masons . Brother Preston S . W . proposed the new joining member , whom he had known for a long time , and was sure he would prove a worthy Brother amongst them . The toast was very suitably replied to . Other toasts followed and were heartily acknowledged .

The intervals between the toasts were enlivened with songs from Bros Lee , Morley , Russell , and Norbury .

ALBERT EDWARD LODGE , No . 1780 . THE installation and festival of St . John was held at the Masonio Hall , Southampton , on Tuesday , 3 rd inst ., the attendance of members arid visitors numbering about seventy . Among the visitors were Bros . E . Kingman P . M . 359 , A . Algar P . M . 319 , H . Rohss W . M . 1461 , E . Long W . M . 359 , T . G . Dacombe P . M . 359 , W . Mayoss P . M . 1112 , J . Hollis W . M . 394 , J . Seward Pearce P . M . 1260 , A . J . Brown P . M . 1461 , J . Burbage P . M . 319 , A . Ritchie P . M . 1461 .

The following Brethren of tbe Lodge were present : Bros . Berry P . M ., T . P . Payne P . M ., F . Parnell , R . Mabb , T . Griffin , R . Griffin , T . Jerram , A . W . Kitcatt , W . Beavis , W . Cowgill , and others . The principal business was that of installing Brother J . Burrow S . W . as W . M . for the ensuing year . The installation ceremony was ably performed by Bro . E . Warren P . P . G . St . Br . One Brother was initiated .

The W . M . then invested his Officers as follow : —Brothers C . Alexander I . P . M ., R . Prowse S . W .. E . W . Drysdall J . W ., G . Heathcote P . P . G . Std . Br . Treasurer , T . Holmes Secretary , R . W . Denness S . D ., T . G . King J . D ., A . Curtis I . G ., H . Hussey P . M . D . C , W . Groundsell Organist , W . R . Ives and G . Rowe Stewards .

The sum of £ 10 10 s was voted to the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , £ 5 5 s to the Hampshire Masonic Educational Institute , and £ 5 5 s to the Royal Masonic Institution tor Girls . The Lodge also voted £ 5 5 s to the orphans of a deceased Brother , while Brother C . H . Perreass offered an additional five guineas to be added to the amount subscribed to the Girls School .

Two gentlemen were proposed for initiation . Bro . Curtis , on behalf of the Auditors , gave a report that the Lodge was in a very sound financial position . ' Business over , the Brethren sat down to a sumptuous banquet , which
