REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

CRAFT : ME TE OPOLITAN .

ST . MICHAEL LODGE , No . 211 . THE W . M . Brother A . B . Spawforth presided at a regular meeting of this Lodge on Tuesday last , at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., and was supported by his Officers and a large number of Brethren .

Bro . Howard E . Mullins having proved his proficiency as a Craftsman , was raised to the sublime degree . A Committee for the General Purposes of the Lodge was elected . A special bar to the Past Master ' s jewel commemorating the fact that he had presided during the centenary year was voted to Bro . Cockrell .

The new Master presented to the Lodge a set of gauntlets for the principal Officers , for which he received the thanks of the Brethren . Three candidates were proposed for initiation at the next meeting . The Lodge being closed , the Brethren adjourned to refreshment , and a pleasant evening was spent .

UPTON LODGE , No . 1227 . r" * nHERE was a good amount of Masonio work transacted at the meeting of I this Lodge on Thursday , at the Great Eastern Hotel , Bishopsgate Street , E . G ., when the three ceremonies were performed . Bro . Edwin M . Jeffrey W . M . presided , ana was supported by his Officers and the following Brethren : —G . A . Peters S . W ., H . Hyde J . W ., Charles Giesche P . M . Treasurer , Charles J . Free P . M . Secretary , Samuel Toye I . P . M ., W . A . Bray S . D ., H . B . Brown J . D ., H . J . Rowbury Steward .

The visitors proved the universality of Freemasonry , and included Bros . Fred R . Gurney 204 ( Australia ) , B . V . Rajwade 401 ( East India ) , E . S . White 1365 , S . W . Vale 861 , W . Partridge 79 , Robert Crowley 1507 , Orlton Cooper P . M . 211 , and Ferris 160 . After the confirmation of the minntes , the ballot was taken on behalf of Mr . Frederick William Ward and Mr . Thomas W . Payne , which proving unanimous , those gentlemen were introduced and regularly initiated into the mysteries and privileges of Ancient Freemasonry .

On the Lodge being opened in the second degree , Bro . William Thomas Hustwayte was advanced as a Craftsman . Bros . Albert Crocher and Charles Edwin Snowdon proved their proficiency , and were subsequently raised to the sublime degree , and took their seats in the Master Mason ' s Lodge .

The whole of the ceremonies , which included the traditional history , were admirably rendered by Bro . Jeffery , who was greatly assisted by his Deacons Bros . William A .. Bray and H . B . Brown . A candidate was proposed for the next meeting , and the Master having received the good wishes of the Brethren , the Lodge was closed and the Brethren adjourned to supper .

The usual Loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , after which Bro . Samuel Toye , in eulogistic terms proposed the health of the W . M ., and referred to the admirable manner in which he had performed the ritual that evening . Bro . Jeffery briefly returned thanks , and said he endeavoured to do his best . If his efforts met with the approval of the Brethren he was satisfied .

The initiates were duly toasted , and acknowledged the compliment in feeling terms . The visitors expressed the pleasure they had experienced in witnessing the work in the Lodge , and wished success to the Brethren . The post prandial proceedings were much enlivened by some capital songs , and the company separated in perfect harmony in good time .

SOUTHGATE LODGE , No . 1950 . THE installation meeting was held on Thursday , 5 th inst ., at the Railway Hotel , New Southgate , when Bro . R . E . Gilmour was installed as W . M . for the ensuing year . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel was presented to Bro . W . T . Winsor the I . P . M ., in appreciation of his valuable services to the Lod ge during the past year as W . M ., he having had a very successful term of office .

W ., T . W . Mogford J . W ., Major J . Reed S . D ., C . E . Lilly J . D ., H . H . Bagnall I . G ., H . Dehane P . M . 1543 P . P . G . S . D . Essex Preceptor , R . J . Rogers 733 Sec . and Treas ., W . Roberts , G . D . Mogford , J . Wynman , R . Armstrong , G . Butcher , T . Beesley , W . Hillier P . M . 1366 , & c .

The acting W . M . Bro . S . Manne , a young and persevering Mason , rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , with Bro . W . Roberts candidate . He then kindly vacated the chair in favour of Bro . Roberts W . M . 733 , who opened in the second degree . Bro . Beesley and Butcher were examined and entrusted , and the ceremony of raising rehearsed , Bro . S . Manne candidate . The W . M . re-occupied the chair .

Bro . Dehane P . M . Preceptor proposed , and Bro . Roberts W . M . 733 seconded , that a vote of thanks should be passed to Bro . S . Manne for the able manner in which he had fulfilled the duties of the chair , which was unanimously accepted . It was proposed by Bro . Rogers P . M . Treasurer ,, and seconded by Bro .

Dehane P . M . Preceptor , that the FBTSBMASON ' S CHBO : NICLE should in future be provided by the Lodge , as the members could not do less on account of past interest displayed by the paper , and the frequent reports it gave concerning the working of the Lodgo . This was also unanimousl y agreed to . Bro . C . Brown will preside at the next meeting .

DALHOUSIE LODGE , No . 860 . ON the 4 th inst ., at the Lord Stanley , Paragon Road , Hackney , Bros . King W . M ., S . C . Kaufman S . W ., 'Akerman J . W ., Geo . Clarke Treas ., W . S . The ceremony of raising was rehearsed . On intimation from the landlord that the Lodge Room would be required for a billiard room , a discussion as the future place of meeting took

place , and the Brethren present resolved themselves into a Committee to view several suggested places . Ultimately , as announced in our last issue , it was decided to remove to the Lord Truro , Dalston Lane , N . E ., where meetings will be held every Tuesday , at 8 p . m .

The W . M . opened the Lodge in the usual way , and proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Hazel candidate , who was subsequently examined and entrusted , the ceremony of raising being rehearsed . Both ceremonies were done in an able and impressive manner by the W . M .

It was proposed by Bro . W . Lawrence P . M . and seconded by Bro . R . D . Cummings P . M . that Brother Wynman , representative of the FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE , be elected Honorary Member of the Lodge , and the proposal was unanimously accepted . The Lodge adjourned until Wednesday , 25 th inst ., Brother R . Smerdon S . W . being elected W . M . for that date .

The first and second ceremonies were rehearsed , Bros . Schlosshauer and Abrahams candidates . The ancient charge in the first degree was delivered by the W . M . The Lodge was opened in the third degree , and closed down in each degree . Bro . Lamigeon W . M .-elect of Clissold Lodge was elected W . M . for next meeting .

DERBY ALLCROFT LODGE , No . 2168 . THE usual meeting was held at the Midland Grand Hotel , St . Pancras , on Wednesday , Bro . B . G . Elliott P . M . W . M ., R . Smerdon S . W ., J . F . Croager J . W ., R . D . Cummings P . M . S . D ., G . Walker J . D ., W . Bradford I . G ., J . W . Dixon P . M . 2168 Secretary , W . Lawrence 2168 Preceptor , W . A . Hazel , Wynman and others .

The W . M . opened the Lodge in the usual way , and proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , Bro . Hazel candidate , who was subsequently examined and entrusted , the ceremony of raising being rehearsed . Both ceremonies were done in an able and impressive manner by the W . M .

It was proposed by Bro . W . Lawrence P . M . and seconded by Bro . R . D . Cummings P . M . that Brother Wynman , representative of the FREEMASON ' S CHRONICLE , be elected Honorary Member of the Lodge , and the proposal was unanimously accepted . The Lodge adjourned until Wednesday , 25 th inst ., Brother R . Smerdon S . W . being elected W . M . for that date .
