FROM time immemorial this Chapter has been worked at Eastwood , near Todmorden . During the last few yenrs a number of enthusiastic and zealous brethren having taken the Knights Templar , Knights of Malta and Allied Masonio degrees , & c , at this place , being desirous of re-organising , the Rose Croix Chapter degree , and to have it worked under the recognised constituted

authority of the Supreme Council 33 ° of the Ancient and Accopted Rite for England and Wales and the Dependencies of the British Crown , requested Illus . Bro . John Marshall 30 ° P . M . W . S . 69 , of Man-Chester , to take the necessary steps for procuring a confirmatory warrant , in whioh he was successful , and in consideration of the Chapter having existed for suoh a long time , a warrant was

granted by the Supreme Counoil , without the usual fee , to the following brethren : —John Marshall 30 ° , J . L . Atherton 30 ° , James Lord 18 ° , John Dunning Kay 18 ° , Wm . J . Beck 18 ° , Josh . W . Monckman 18 ° , and Charles Greenwood 18 ° . On Thursday , the 4 th August , Very Illustrious Bro . Nathaniel George Philips 33 ° Grand Commander , assisted by V . I . Bro . Hagh D . Snndeman 33 ° Grand

Sir George David Harris 31 ° as Grand Director of Ceremonies , re-consecrated the Chapter as No . 124 in the presence of a fair number of brethren—ten candidates presented themselves and were duly perfected . that they would be pleased to associate with the Chapter as snob . Letters of apology for inability to attend were received from Very Illustrious Bro . Colonel LB Geudre N . Starkie 33 ° , J . H . Sillitoe 18 ° , John Chadwick 18 ° , and a number of other brethren . Afterwards the brethren dined together , presided over by tho M . W . S . ( Bro . Thos . A QUARTKRLY Communication of the Grand Lodgo of Scotland was hold in the Froomasons' Hall , Edinburgh , on the 2 nd iust . Thero was a fair uttendance , and in the unavoidnblo absenco of the Grand Master Mason , tho Earl of Haddington , the throne was occupied hy Brother H . F . Shaw-Stewart Past Substitute Grand Master . Brothers J . Dalrymple Dnncan , Glasgow , and Colonel John Campbell , Perth , wore in their place as Senior and Junior Graud

Warden respectively . A vidimus , submitted by the Grand Cashier , showed that the income of the Grand Lodge for the quarter ended 23 rd July had been £ 1 , 333 , being £ 741 in excess of the expenditure . There had during that period been 1 , 350 entrants to the Order . The income for the first eight months of this year had been £ 4 , 193 , compared with £ 4 , 086 during the same period last year—increase £ 106 .

During the last three months £ 134 had been voted from the Benevo . lent Fund to Freemasons or widows of deceasod Masons . A table submitted by the Grand Secretary showed that at January last 99 annuities were in force , amounting to £ 1 , 01-5 , that three annui . tants had died , and that last mouth ten annuities of £ 10 oaoh had been granted . been withdrawn . Grand Lodge ordered that charters be issned to the following new Lodges ; St . John , Eltham , Taranaki , and Hinemoa , Midhirst . New Zealand , North ; and Hyderabad Chudderghaut , India—the Hyderabad Lodge to be worked in the Urdu language . A recommendation following on the remit from last meeting of Grand Lodge was submitted by the Grand Committee , to the effect

that the minimum fee for initiation be two guineas , and that there be no addition to the contributions at present paid by daughter Lodges to Grand Lodge for registration , & c , upon each entrance . After considerable discussion this was adopted in Grand Lodge by 81 against 7 voteB . Grand Seoretary reported that the Grand Master had resolved to make a Grand Visitation to tbe Provincial

Grand Lodgo of Stirlingshire , and , on the invitation of the Provincial Grand Master , to lay the foundation stone of the south aisle of tbe Parish Chnrch at Falkirk , and afterwards pay a complimen . tary visit to the St . John Lodge , No . 16 , Falkirk . Further , that Lord Haddington had fixed 15 th Spptetnber as the date on which he would make a Grand Visitation to the Provincial Grand Lodgo of

Roxbnrgh and Selkirkshires ; and that on a day in September yet to be fixed the Grand Master will , at Hamilton , instal Brother R . King Stewart , of Mnrdostoun , as Provinoial Grand Master of Lanarkshire , in room of Brother Colonel J . Clark Forrest , of Treesbauk , resigned . On the motion of Brother Christie , Stirling , seconded by Bro . Borry , Provincial Graud Master of Forfarshire , Grand Lodge unanimously

remitted to Grand Committee to procure a Grand Collar for the Grand Master Mason , of such design and style as is worthy of Grand Lodge . In the absence of the mover , Grand Lodge delayed till next meeting a motion that the election and installation of Grand Office Bearers , together with the celebration of | tho festival of St . Andrew

bo held in Glnsgow in November next ; and Brother Mackersy gave notice of motion that Grand Committeo be instructed to report whether it would be beneficial to the Order to have that function alternately in Edinburgh and one of the Provinces , on the invitation of tho Provincial Grand Lodge desiring it . This was all the business .

Tbe annnal sermon in connection with tho Provincial Graud Lodgo had been held since last meeting , aud ho thought that they would all like to hear some report of it . bo held in Glnsgow in November next ; and Brother Mackersy gave notice of motion that Grand Committeo be instructed to report whether it would be beneficial to the Order to have that function alternately in Edinburgh and one of the Provinces , on the invitation of tho Provincial Grand Lodge desiring it .
