ZETLAND LODGE , No . 603 . THE usual monthly meeting was held in the Masonic Hall , Tofts , Cleokheaton , on Tuesday evening of last week . The Lodge was opened in due form , with solemn prayer at 7 p . m ., those present including Bros . A . Thornton W . M ., H . E . Hodgson S . W ., A . Newsholme J . W ., R . W . Warrener S . D ., F . Hirst acting J . D ., John Holden

D . C ., Alfred Hall acting I . G ., R . H . Jackson Tyler , S . Halliday , M . D ., P . M . Chaplain , W . Armitage I . P . M ., Chas . F . Forshaw LL . D ., D . D . S ., Alfred Law , J . P ., C . H . Powell , Dr . P . G . Lodge , M . D ., J . Hardhill , E . Jowett , S . Hewitt , C . H . Burrowes , W . N . Hudson , W . H . Sharp , George Blackburn , J . H . Shelley , L . R . Wood Sec , & c .

The Visiting Brethren included Sergeants W . Miller , C . C . Shilcock , H . Gregg ( all of the Calfe Lodge , No . 325 , Gibraltar ) , and W . Weaste ( of the Military Jubilee Lodge , Dover , No . 2195 ) , all of whom are stationed at the Bradford Barracks . After the minutes of the last regular Lodge meeting had been read and confirmed , and the correspondence communicated , Bros . Dr . Lodge , Hudson ,

Hardhill and Powell , who were candidates to be passed to the degree of Fellow Craft , were examined as to their fitness , entrusted with the test of merit , and retired . The Lodge was then opened for the purpose of Freemasonry in the second degree , and Bros . Hardill , Lodge , Hudson and Powell were passed in a most able manner by the W . M . in the order named . Bro . Newsholme J . W . presented the working tools , and tho W . M . delivered the address in a most impressive manner .

After hearty good wishes the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony at 9 . 30 , and the proceedings of the fourth degree entered upon with that zest which refreshment after labour produces . The W . M . is to he cordiall y congratulated on the flourishing state of his Lodge .

Bro . Burrows , an initiate o £ 832 , Rangoon , an affiliated member of 603 , and well-known in Bradford as one of its leading photographic artists , is presenting to the Lodge a portrait of each of the members . These will be framed by Bro . Burrows , the W . M . occupying the central position o £ the group .

ARNOLD LODGE , No . 1799 . AT the monthly meeting , held at Walton-on-the-Naze , on the 25 th ult ., Bro . S . T . T . James S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . E . Osmond was unanimously re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . F . Quilter Tyler .

ST . ANDREW LODGE , No . 1817 . ABOUT fifty Brethren attended the usual meeting at the Cambridge Hotel , Shoeburyness , on the 27 th ult ., and for several reasons considerable interest was associated with the gathering . A handsome portrait of Bro . George Glasscock , J . P ., Director of

Ceremonies was presented to the Lodge by Bro . A . Dix . Bro . Gooderham made the presentation on behalf of the donor , and alluded to the services rendered to Masonry by Bro . Glasscock , who , he said , was the second Master of St . Andrew ' s , had been tbeir representative at several Charity Festivals , and was , in fact , a thoroughly good Mason .

Bro . Glasscock thanked Bro . Dix for the gift . He said he did not wish for praise ; what he had done had been for the good of Masonry in general , and , of course , for the benefit of St . Andrew's Lodge in particular . It would always be his delight to do what he could for the Craft until he was summoned to the Grand Lodge above . There was an unusual attendance at the banquet ; several Visitors being present .

Bro . A . Marden P . M . P . P . A . D . C . made his farewell speech , referring in feeling terms to the consideration shown him during the time that he occupied the chair . It would be his delight to visit the Lodge whenever possible to do so . Bro . Emberson W . M . also informed the Brethren that within the past few hours he had learnt that he was to remove from Shoeburyness , where he

had spent many pleasant hours ; and the parting was rendered more severe through the fact that he was this year the Worshipful Master of the Lodge . As a soldier , however , he had to obey orders , just as Bro . Marden , who was connected with the Police Service , had to . It was a satisfaction to him to know that the Lodge was in a flourishing condition , and that he could fail back upon such a popular Immediate Past Master as Bro . J . Berry .

TRAVELLERS LODGE , No . 2609 . ON Saturday , 29 th ult ., at the Masonic Hall , Chester , Bros . Sir Horatio Lloyd Dep . Prov . G . M . and Richard Newhouse Prov . G . Sec . were presen t at the celebration of the festival of St . John and tbe installation of W . M . At the March Lodge the Brethren had unanimously elected Bro . F . J . Duok S . W . as W . M . for the ensuing year , and he was duly installed by Bros . Thos . Owen P . M ., and William Peers P . M ., the ceremony being rendered with great impressiveness .

The congratulations of the Provincial Grand Master Lord Egerton were conveyed to the new W . M . by Bro . Newhouse , who asked the Lodge ' s acceptance of a copy of the most recent portrait of his lordship . Bro . Duck fitly gave expression to the Brethren ' s acknowledgments .

Bro . Thos . Owen , who was mainly instrumental in bringing the Lodge into existence , and who , in addition to serving the Lodge as its second W . M ., had performed the duties of the chair for an additional year owing to untoward circumstances , was presented by the Lodge with a handsome combined Founder's and P . M . ' s jewel .

Bro . Peers , too , who was first W . M ., and whose services to the Lodge ever since had been most conspicuous and exacting , was constituted a permanent Vice President of the Cheshire Educational Institution , giving him one vote in perpetuity . Bros . Owen and Peers warmly acknowledged these marks of appreciation . Bro . Duck presided at the installation banquet which followed . During the post prandial proceedings Sir Horatio Lloyd , in a happy and

interesting speech , stated that Masonry was never in a more flourishing condition in Great Britian than at the present time . He incidentally mentioned the fact that he was within two years of his jubilee as a Freemason , and announced that the Provincial Lodge of Cheshiro would hold its meeting at Chester on the 9 th August .

When the toast of the Installing and Past Masters came to be proposed , Bro . H . R . Thomas and Bro . John Dodd , on behalf of fourteen Brethren who had been initiated into Freemasonry during Bro . T . Owen ' s two years tenure of the office of W . M ., asked Bro . Owen ' s acceptance of a beautiful album containing the signatures and photographs of the donors , and a brief illuminated address . Bro . Owen acknowledged the gift in feeling terms .

Bro . Atkinson was chosen to act as W . M . on the 19 th inst ., as the annual supper , which is one of the events of the distriot , was fixed for yesterday ( Friday ) .

WOODROW LODGE , No . 1708 . ON Monday , 24 th ult ., at Bro . Rudderforth's ( Stone's ) Hotel , Panton Street , Haymarket , W ., Bros . R . Cawley W . M ., C . E . Nice S . W ., W . West J . W ., C . The W . M . advanced the Lodge to the second and third degrees , and resumed to the first , when the ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . G . Spice acting as candidate . The Lodge was again advanced to the second degree , and Bro . Louis was examined and entrusted , the ceremony of raising

being rehearsed . The working was admirable throughout . Biro . Pyke was elected a member , and Bro . Nice W . M . for next meeting . We are pleased to see that a Benevolent Association has been formed in connection with this Lodge , and that several Brethren have already given in their names as members .

ALFRED NEWTON LODGE , No . 2686 . BEING Officers' night an excellent meeting took place on Tuesday , at the Royal Hotel , Kensington , W . The Worshipful Master of the Mother Lodge Bro . J . Naughton was ably supported by the following Officers : D . F .

After the usual formalities the W . M . proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , and included the ancient charge ; Bro . H . Seal being the candidate . The ceremony was rendered in a perfect manner . The Lodge was called off ; on resuming , the W . M . announced his intention of rehearsing tho ceremony of passing , for whicb Bro . E . Vernon offered himself as a candidate . He was entrusted , and the ceremony was rehearsed , this also giving great satisfaction .

Bro . England was elected a member , which compliment was acknow ledged in suitable terms . Bro . Rix will preside at the next meeting .

After the usual formalities the W . M . proceeded to rehearse the ceremony of initiation , and included the ancient charge ; Bro . H . Seal being the candidate . The ceremony was rendered in a perfect manner . The Lodge was called off ; on resuming , the W . M . announced his intention of rehearsing tho ceremony of passing , for whicb Bro . E . Vernon offered himself as a candidate . He was entrusted , and the ceremony was rehearsed , this also giving great satisfaction .

Bro . England was elected a member , which compliment was acknow ledged in suitable terms . Bro . Rix will preside at the next meeting .
