REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and 'where desired will endeavour to send a representative to report Lodge or other proceedings .

ST . MICHAEL'S LODGE , No . 211 . T ' HE last regular meeting of the season was held at the Albion , Aldersgate Street , E . G ., last Tuesday , when Bro . Geo . Cockrell W . M . presided , and was supported by Bros . Dyer I . P . M ., Copley S . W ., Spawforth J . W ., Mount S . D ., Collings J , D ., King I . G ., P . M . Green Treasurer , P . M . Eadcliffe Secretary , P . M . Cooper D . C , and a large number of the members .

Bro . George Francis Johnson was raised to tbo sublime degree by the W . M ., who performed the ceremony in a most admirable manner . As the Lodge will have completed one hundred years continuous work on llth September 1895 , it was decided to petition the Grand Master to grant

the usual Centenary Charter , the expense of which Bro . Cockrell generously offered to defray . It was further resolved to mark the occasion by endowing the three Principal Chairs as Governors of the Masonic Charities . The Senior and Junior Wardens kindly offered to provide the music for the festival , whioh will be celebrated in November , in a manner worthy of so important an event . o o o

TEMPERANCE IN THE EAST LODGE , No . 898 . A EEGULAE meeting was held at the Assembly Eooms , Poplar , on . Wednesday , 27 th ult ., Bro . E . F . Williams W . M . Mr . Hans Wedge was initiated , says the " East London Observer , " and in the required degrees Bros . G . E . Jones and W . Armstrong were passed , and Bro . Kleiss , J . T . Bigg , and G . E . Bigg raised .

During the whole of the ceremonies the beautiful ritual was enhanced by the musical accompaniments , vocal and instrumental , which form such a distinctive feature in the Lodge . Bro . Williams , now restored to health , worked the various degrees with earnestness and precision .

The Lodge being closed , and the Brethren having partaken of refreshment , the Loyal toasts and those of the Grand Officers were received in tho usual manner . Bro . Bigg I . P . M . said the W . M . was the right man in the right place . They had worked together and had climbed the ladder together . As his Installing Officer , he felt a fatherly interest in the W . M .

ROYAL STANDARD LODGE , No . 1298 .

THE Installation meeting was held at the Eailway Hotel , Highbury Corner , on Friday , 5 th inst ., under the presidency of Bro . W . Blankley W . M ., who was supported by Bros . E . Linfoot J . W ., H . Cooper Treas ., H . Dunn Secretary , E . Eichardson S . D ., Pearsall J . D ., Powell Organist . P . M . ' s Carver , Stead , Cull , Airey ; Bros . H . Smith , Dean , Myers , Baker , Nash , Ward , Humphries , Wilkinson , Badman , Smith , Seager , Gould , Baker , and others .

Visitors : Bros . Angell S . W . 179 , A . Humphries 1677 , E . Martin 238 , W . Stead 1563 , E . Malpass 1702 , A . Briscoe P . M . 1922 P . P . G . Org . of Surrey , A . Staley 185 , G . Nash 1489 , A . Chevalier 2021 . The Lodge was opened and the minutes confirmed , after which Brother

Dean was raised to the M . M . degree , and Bros . Nash , Ward , and Smith were passed to that of Fellow Craft . The principal event of the evening was the Installation of Bro . Edwin Linfoot the J . W ., and this ceremony was most ably performed by Bro . P . M . Carver in a very earnest and faultless manner .

Bro . Linfoot is a very excellent and earnest worker , and his being installed W . M . of the Eoyal Standard Lodge was a source of pride and gratification to his many friends both inside and outside Masonry . The W . M . invested his Officers as follow : Bros . Blankley I . P . M ., T . Cull P . M . 1446 S . W ., F . C . Eichardson J . W ., H . Cooper P . M . Treas ., Hanes Dunn P . M . Secretary , S . H . Pearsall S . D ., F . W . Tew J . D ., J . Cuthbersent I . G ., J . E . Carver P . M . D . C , J . A . Stone Std ., F . Humphries Organist .

The addresses were delivered in a very impressive manner and listened to with great attention . The W . M . subsequently initiated Mr . Smith , in a manner that must have convinced his Brethren that he is thoroughly competent to carry out any duty he may be called upon to perform during his year of office . Hearty congratulations were tendered by the Visitors , and the Lodge was closed .

The Brethren adjourned to a very elegant banquet superintended by Bro . M . Tuck P . P . G . Std . B . of Essex , Manager of the Hotel , and that Brother deserves the highest praise ; his efforts were crowned with success . The W . M . set the good example of short speeches . The Loyal toasts were heartily received .

That of the W . M . met a grand reception . Brother I . P . M . Blankley , speaking with great feeling , alluded to tho high attainments of theW . M ., and testified how zealously he had worked in the past to qualify himself to discharge the duties of the chair to his own credit and their satisfaction . The W . M . replied , thanking the P . Ms , and Brethren for their kindness . It was a great day of his life , and he felt truly pleased to know he had so

many friends . He was very proud of his position , and nothing should be wanting on his part to make the Eoyal Standard Lodge as successful in the future as in the past . He earnestly hoped the Brethren would attend thc Lodge of Instruction associated with it , in order to attain that knowledge which was so necessary in order to carry on the duties of the Lodge successfully .

The toast of the I . P . M ., the Past Masters and Installing Officer , and the Officers of the Lodge were each heartily proposed and received . The musical arrangements , under the direction of Bro . F . Humphries , were of the most perfect order , and gained unbounded applause from the Brethren . Among the artistes giving so much pleasure must be mentioned the names of Miss Winifred Parker , Miss Luie Jenkens , Bros . F . W . Tew , J . A . Stone and the Curfew Glee Singers . The Tyler's toast concluded a very happy evening .

FRIARS LODGE , No . 1349 . THE members of this Lodge had a successful ball on the 21 st ult ., at the Cannon Street Hotel , when Bro . Charles Eschwege W . M . and his Officers were most energetic in securing the comfort of the guests . At the supper , says the " East London Observer , " Brother P . M . Basil Stewart proposed the toast of the Friars Lodge and its W . M ., which was accorded an enthusiastic reception .

The W . M ., in responding , said how pleased he was in presiding over the first ball held in connection with the Friars Lodge , and trusted that it would be but the forerunner of many such happy events . The toast of the ladies was proposed by Bro . P . M . Harry Marks , and very appropriately responded to by Bro . P . M . Weston .

PEOYINCIAL .

— , 0 : — PERSEVERANCE LODGE , No . 573 . npHE annual festival was held on the 9 th inst ., at Halesowen , when

I there was a large attendance of members and visiting Brethren . Bro . Bryce S . W . was installed W . M . for the ensuing year . At the conclusion of tho ceremony a banquet took place , at which the usual toasts were honoured .

UNITED LODGE , No . 697 . AT a monthly meeting , on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., at Colchester , Bro . F . J . Motum S . W ., was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing year . Bro . G . J . Booth P . M . was elected Treasurer , and Bro . A . Wright re-elected Tyler .

GUNDULPH LODGE , No . 1050 . rpHE members held their annual festival on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., under 1 special dispensation from the Provincial Grand Master Earl Amherst .

The special meeting of the Lodge was held in the Guildhall , Eochester , kindly placed at the disposal of the Freemasons by the Mayor and Corporation of the city , and was attended by several distinguished Brethren of the Province as well as visitors from a distance .

The new Master is Bro . J . W . Nash , who was unanimously elected to Office . The interesting ceremony of installation was carried cut by Bro . G . H . Eussell the retiring Master , in a singularly able manner , which , at a later ..

period drew forth the unqualified encomium of the Past Masters and Brethren , Bro . Eussell being at thc same time presented with a valuable P . M . ' s jewel in recognition of the able manner in which he had carried out the duties of his Office during the past year .

The business of the Lodge ended , the Brethren partook of their annual banquet at the King ' s Head Hotel , High Street , presided over by Bio . J . W . Nash .

MALLING ABBEY LODGE , No . 1063 . AT the meeting held at the Freemasons Hall , Mailing , on the 3 rd inst ., Brother C W . Sofer VVhitburn was unanimously elected Worshipful Master for the ensuing year , to succeed Brother T . Scott , who has so ably

presided over the Lodge for the past year . It was also unanimously agreed to present Bro . Scott with a Past Master's jewel , as some recognition from the members , of the kind and considerate way he had carried out the duties of his Office .

Subsequently the first three sections were gone through , Bro . Wagon P . M . being Preceptor .

TRUTH LODGE , No . 1458 . THE regular meeting of this Lodge was held at the Wheat Sheaf Hotel , High Street , Manchester , on Saturday , the 6 th inst . There was a good attendance , tho following , amongst others , being present : —Bros . E . M . Shepherd W . M ., VV . H . Worsley S . W ., T . P . Cooper J . W ., A . B . Taylor S . D .,

W . Kempston as J . D ., J . J . Dean I . G ., Sandiford Org ., T . H . Hall P . M . Sec , Alfred Hebden P . M . P . P . G . D . D . C D . C , H . L . Burgess I . P . M ., Past Masters E . Caldwell P . P . G . S . B ., G . Needle , M . Davies , Jas . Archdale , J . H . Vincent ; Bros . G . T . Lenard , H . Hellewell , J . Parkyn , & c , T . Hyde Tyler . Visitors : Bros . D . G . Miles 121 , and Geo . Thomas Lee .

After the reading and confirmation of minutes , a ballot was taken for Messrs . John Pearce and Wm . Dewhurst , and being successful these gentlemen were afterwards regularly initiated into antient Freemasonry , the former by Bro . Hebden , the latter by Bro . Caldwell , both ceremonies being

excellently well performed . The Working Tools were presented and explained by Bro . Cooper J . W ., and the E . A . Charge delivered by Bro . Worsley S . W . We have spoken of Bro . Worsley ' s careful efforts upon previous occasions , and may here assert that his present exposition of the Charge was all that could be desired .

After Lodge was closed , the Brethren adjourned to tea , this being followed by a social board , which was rendered exceedingly pleasant by songs and recitations given by Bros . Cooper , Hebden , Kempston , Sandiford and Ta *> lor , and several delightful pianoforte solos played by Bro . Worsley .

LONGLEAT LODGE , No . 1478 . THE Brethren of the above Lodge mustered in force on Wednesday , 3 rd inst ., at the Town Hall , Warminster , to take part in the installation of Brother Sydney Lancelot Corden S . W . as Master for the ensuing year . The ceremony was performed by the W . M . Brother Thomas Ulric Thynne .

After the closing of the Lodge the Brethren , with several Visitors from Portsmouth , Winchester , and Trowbridge , proceeded to the banquet at tho Bath Arms Hotel , where a most enjoyable evening was spent under the presidency of the new Master , supported by many Visiting Brethren .

TRAFFORD LODGE , No . 1496 . TTIHE regular meeting of this Lodge was held at the Western Hotel , Mpss JL Side , Manchester , on Monday , the 8 th inst ., among those present being
