to the large company , which numbered fnlly four hundred ladies and gentlemen . In the samo room there were exhibits representative of tho industries of the Faithful City , including tho world-famed Worcester porcelain , which was fittingly arranged as representative of the particular

productions of the local industry of the present day and those of a hundred years ago . The Worcester glove industry was similarly represented . The skins of the various animals used in this branch of manufacture were displayed in their various stages , culminating in the

finished article of every-day wear , both of to-day and a century ago . There were also a large number of valuable and rare prints and paintings , lent by connoisseurs in Masonic curios from different parts of the country . Refreshments were served in the Lower Hall , which had been

decorated for that and other functions , which wero to take place on Wednesday and Thursday , with a wealth of drapery , showing off the blue and white of Craft Masonry . Among the company present were Rt . Wor . Bro . Sir A . H . Lechmero , Bart ., M . P ., Grand Master of the Province ,

Canon and Mrs . Clanghton , Canon Melville , & c , & c . The arrangements were carried out by a committee consisting of the Worshipful Master of the Worcester Lodge , Wor . Bro . F . G . Underwood P . M . P . P . G . S . B ., Wor . Bro . A . B . Roe P . M . P . P . G . Superintendent of Works , and Bro . S .

Southall Secretary , neither of whom spared an effort or left a single stone unturned to mako the occasion , what it proved to be , an unqualified and probably an unequalled success in the way of the many social functions which have graced Worcestershire Freemasonry .

On the 8 th inst ., the proceedings commenced with a luncheon at the Guildhall . At one o ' clock the Provincial Grand Lodge was opened in the Chapter House , which was placed at their disposal by the Dean and Chapter . Tbe Grand Lodge was attended by a large body of Masons

from Worcestershire and adjoining Provinces , among thoso present being the Marquis of Hertford , P . S . G . W . of England , P . G . M . Outrim ; Sir M . Hicks Beach , M . P ., Provincial Grand Master of Gloucestershire ; Bros . J . D . Allcroft ; Very Rev . the Dean of Gloucester ; Sir E .

and Waugh . The sermon was preached by the very Wor . Bro . Rev . W . K . R . Bedford , M . A ., of Sutton Coldfield , P . G . Chaplain of England , who took for his text Psalm xxv . 4 . " The secret of the Lord is with them that

fear Him . " Thefcollection was in aid of the Infirmary aud of Holy Trinity Schools . A banquet took place in the evening at the Guildhall .

The sale of the " Masonic Orations , " by Bro- L . P . Metham P . D . P . G . M . of Devon , edited by Bro . John Chapman P . M . 1402 P . P . G . T ) . of Devon , has resulted in the sum of £ 12 being left , after payment of all expenses .

This amount , together with an extra gift of £ 3 15 s ( so as to make the total 15 gniuens ) has boon generousl y forwarded by Bro . Chapman to tho venerable " Masonic Orator of the West , " as a donation to the funds of thc Royal British Female Orphan Asylum , Stoke , Devonport .

Tho Grand Master Sir Archibald Campbell , Bart ., M . P ., will lay the foundation-stone of the new Technical School anil Mining College , on Saturday , 1 st November , at

Coatbridge , erected by the Monklnnd School Board . The various trades in the district are to tnrn out and parade the principal streets . A choir of over 100 voices will take part in the proceedings .

The monthly meeting of the General Committee of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys was held on Saturday , at Freemasons' Hall , Bro . George Plucknett P . G . D . Treasurer of the Institution in the chair . There were also present Bros . J . Glass , W . H . Saunders , Stanley J .

Attenborough , J . Bodenham , George Corbie , W . Masters , Albert Escott , James Blyth , R . W . Bourne . A . H . Webb , James Brett , H . Webb , William Smith , W . A . Scurrah , Robt . Martin , H . Dickey , G . Adamson , Alfred Craven Greenwood , A . Gravati , Rev . H . A . Hebb ( Head Master ) ,

E . Stofts , A . Ridgway , R . J . Taylor , Edwin Storr , and J . Morrison McLeod ( Secretary ) . Tho Secretary officially announced that the Earl of Lathom D . G . M ., Provincial Grand Master of West Lancashire , had . kindly consented to take the chair at the next Festival of the Institution ,

which would be held in 1891 , and that he had already obtained the names of several West Lancashire brethren who would act as Stewards on that occasion . He was exceedingly pleased to have been able to obtain the Chairmanship of the noble Earl , as he was the Grand

Master of the Province to which he ( Bro . McLeod ) belonged . He moreover stated that ho hoped to get very strong support from that Province and from other Provinces , as the Institution was greatly in need of assistance . After formal business , it was announced that tho

Provisional Management Committee had decided not to erect the new class-rooms at present , the finances of the Institution being so low as not to justify any such expenditure . After a short discussion of the new laws , tho

meeting was adjourned to next Wednesday , 15 th October , at twelve noon , for a full consideration of the laws . A vote of thanks to the chairman closed tho proceedings for the day .

The proposed now laws of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys will be considered at an adjourned meeting of tho General Committee , which will be held on Wednesday , tho 15 th day of October 1890 , at 12 o ' clock at noon , at tho

Freemasons' Hall , Great Qneen Street . Wo append a copy of Law 81 , with an addendum thereto attached , which , at tho instance of the Provisional Management Committee , will be placed before tho General Committee for adoption at their meeting : —

LAW 81 . —1 Mo Pension or Gratuity on retirement shall be paid from tho fnnds of tho Institution . Ai'DEXDU . ' -. —The Council may , if they think fit , agree with any Officer of the Institution for the formation of a fnnd in tho natnra of a Superannuation Fund , to bo invested in tho names of the Trustees ,

the main principles of such agreement being that snch Officer and the Institution respectively shall contribute yeirly for a period of twenty years snch sums , not exceeding ten per cent , of the salary from time to time received by such Officer , as may bo agreed on ; that these contributions shall accumulate at compound interest that

in case the Officer serves the Institution for such twenty years , ho or she shall on his or her retirement be entitled to tho whole accumulated fund ; that in case he or she retires earlinr on account of

permanent disability from illness , be or she shall also bo entitled to tho whole of the snmu fond ; that in all other canes h < i or she shall on ceasing to be a servant of the Institution bo entitled to thc amount produced by his or her own contributions .
