NOTICES OF MEETINGS .

CRAFT . — : o : — STRONG MAN LODGE , No . 45 .

THE installation meeting of the above Lodge took place on Thursday , the 4 th nit ., at the Guildhall Tavern , Gresham Stivet , E . C , and was attended by a goodly array of members of the Lodge and visiting brethren . The Lodge was opened by the W . M . ( Bro . W . F . Brnty ) , and the minutes of the previous meeting having been confirmed , and the Auditors' report received and adopted , the ballot was taken for Mr . S . Sedgwick , and proving unanimous , that gentleman

waa initiated by the W . M . in a most able manner . Bro . G , G . Symons then , by request , assumed the chair as Installing Officer , and tho W . M . elect ( Bro . A . M . Whitby S . W . ) having been presented , was , in due course , and before a large and representative Board of Installed Masters , placed in the chair of K . S . and Baluted . He appointed and invested his Officers , na follow : —Bros . W . F . Bruty I . P . M ., J . G .

R . G . Emerson Orgauist . ' John Cuer I . G ., T . Ookleford , E . J . Stafford and S . Armfiold Stewards , E . Mallet Tyler . Bro . Symons then gave the addresses splendidly , in fact the whole ceremony was most eloquently and fanltlessly rendered , and

for the excellence of whioh Bro . Symons was accorded a hearty vote of thanks , the same to be inscribed on the minutes of the Lodgo , Bro . Symons returned thanks and the Lodge was closed . Tho banquet was , as it generally is at this hotel , well served and in good taste , and was generally commended . The nsual Loyal and Masonic toasts having been honoured , Bro . Symons rose and proposed the toast of

the W . M ., and in course of an eloquent speech , declared that he had never proposed a toast with greater pleasure than the one that evening committed to his charge . Their W . M . had now gained the position that he had striven so hard for , and all who had witnessed his working in the various offices he had filled in that Lodge , would agree with him , that in Bro . Whitby they had a good Mason , who

would make a good Master , and so maintain the prestige and dignity of the Strong Man Lodge . They looked forward to a very prosperous year of office under the rule of their W . M ., and he felt sure they would not be disappointed . He knew the time when the Lodge had but some twenty members , bub there was a vast change now , and of that number a large proportion were Past Masters . They had

now a good strong Lodge , and he felt sure that they would kcop np its reputation as " second to none in the Craft . " The W . M ., in response , regretted and admitted that he was not a speech-makor , bnt conld assure them that during his year of office he should do all in his power for the furtherance of Masonry and the best interests of the Lodge , The Initiate having been toasted , aud he having suitably

responded , the toast of tho I . P . M . followed , and Bro . Bruty , in response , briefly thanked the brethren , and said that if he had deserved their hearty good wishes—and thoy seemed to think so—that was his best reward . He was then presented with a handsome and costly P . M . ' B jewel , for whioh he thanked the brethren , and assured them that he should always wear and prize it with pride and

pleasure . The Visitors , the Installing Master , the Past Masters , the Treasurer and Secretary , and tho Officers were the remaining toasts , and were duly honoured . The Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings to a close . The singing was very ] good indeed , especially that of Mr . Herbert Grover , who has a graud voice aud knows how to use ic . Bro . Gardner also contributed some capital songs , as also

Brother Shaw then , in a most masterly manner , gave tbe traditional history , and Worshipful Bro . Blackburn P . M . explained the working tools peculiar to the degree . By command of the Worshipful Maaterj the Senior Warden then invested Bros . Ramsden and Jarvis with tbe

distinguishing badge of a Master Mason , The Lodge was then closed according to olden usage , and the brethren adjourned for refreshment , when a most happy evening was spent . Bro . Harrison is to be congratulated on having been installed W . M . of the St . John's Lodge , as he has every prospect of a successful and eventful year of office .

WAVERLEY LODGE , No . 1322 . frillE regular meeting of this Lodgo was held at the Queen ' s Arms -L Hotel , Ashton-undor-Lyne , on Thursday , the 25 th ult ., and was rendered specially attractive by the fact that it was tho first after the bestowal of Provincial honours upon two of it 3 members . Tho Lodge occurring in the week of Lancashire's great holiday festival ( Whitsuntide ) , several brethren were conspicuous by their absence . The visitors , however , were numerous , and they were

prompted by a desire to congratulate the Lodge and brethren upon their nowly acquired honours . The principal chair was occupied by Bro . J . Mercer Jones I . P . At the festive board , nnder the presidency of Bro . Wright Wood W . M ., the usual Loyal and Masonio toaBta wero duly honoured , that of the Provincial Officers having coupled with it the names of Bros . J . Smith , and W . Eastwood , who with Bro . J . Fitton responded in felicitous terms ,

acknowledging the honours which had recently bsen conferred upon them . Tho toast of the newly raised brother ( Bro . Hooper ) was proposed by Bro . Jones , the former responding in a very admirabh speech . Then followed the tousc of the visiting brethren , the satna eliciting snitable replies . Songs and recitations were given by Bros . Nowton , Wild , Fitton , Bottomley , Mawdsley , and Jones , and . a very p leasant evening was spent .

WAVERLEY LODGE , No . 1322 . frillE regular meeting of this Lodgo was held at the Queen ' s Arms -L Hotel , Ashton-undor-Lyne , on Thursday , the 25 th ult ., and was rendered specially attractive by the fact that it was tho first after the bestowal of Provincial honours upon two of it 3 members . Tho Lodge occurring in the week of Lancashire's great holiday festival ( Whitsuntide ) , several brethren were conspicuous by their absence . The visitors , however , were numerous , and they were

prompted by a desire to congratulate the Lodge and brethren upon their nowly acquired honours . The principal chair was occupied by Bro . J . Mercer Jones I . P . M ., the usual Loyal and Masonio toaBta wero duly honoured , that of the Provincial Officers having coupled with it the names of Bros . J . Smith , and W . Eastwood , who with Bro . J . Fitton responded in felicitous terms ,

acknowledging the honours which had recently bsen conferred upon them . Tho toast of the newly raised brother ( Bro . Hooper ) was proposed by Bro . Jones , the former responding in a very admirabh speech . Then followed the tousc of the visiting brethren , the satna eliciting snitable replies . Songs and recitations were given by Bros . Nowton , Wild , Fitton , Bottomley , Mawdsley , and Jones , and . a very p leasant evening was spent .
