diamond ring to Mrs . Peachey ( who , in consequence of family bereavement , was unfortunately unable to attend to receive it ) , in recognition of the able and acceptable manner in which Bro . Finest A . Peachey had discharged the duties of W . M . during the previous year . A brooch was also presented to Mrs . Duckworth , wifo of Bro . W . M . Duckworth P . M . Treasurer , in recognition of the valuable services rendered to the Lodge by her husband .

Songs were rendered by Miss Boccardo , Mr . Charles Coborn , Bros . Arthur Grover , Herbert Linwood , and F . H . Cheesewright , who were all in excellent form , and won hearty applause for their efforts . Valli Valli charmed nil present by her clever imitations of popular performers , whilst Bliss Edith Drake ' s aeola solo was well received . A violin solo played with grace and skill by a young girl , Bliss Leila Bawson , also came in fox unbounded applause . Bro . David Devant gave some remarkably clever

magical problems , and Bro . C . H . Townley convulsed the audience by some quaint pantomimic actions . Bro . Sergeant Lee gave an original and very amusing humorous sketch , and Bro . H . Schartau once again proved himself an excellent singer and pianist . BIr . H . J . Paul , au admirable cornet soloist ; BIr . Mark Hyam , a capital elocutionist ; and Mr . Harry Carsdale , with his wonderful farmyard imitations , completed the entertainment , which was arranged and stage managed by Bros . Albert Douglass and Joseph Watson . An able accompanist was found in Bro . Albert Jorden .

Collingwood ' s , the Clarence Hotel , 98 Aldersgate Street ( close to the Bailway Station ) , with Bros . E . Burgess in the chair , G . Chapman S . W ., H . Ingles J . W ., H . Hill P . M . Preceptor , B . Douglas Smith P . M . Treas ., H . J . Grimwade acting Sec , J . Driseoll S . D ., B . Healing J . D ., J . Billson I . G ., E . Parker , Digb . y Cropper , H . Woodington , W . A . CONFIDENCE LODGE , No . 193 . IT was Officers' night at the meeting house , the Bunch of Grapes , Lime Street , B . C ., on Wednesday , and every Officer of the Blother Lodge was in his place with rigid punctuality . There is a considerable amount oi emulation amongst them , all appearing determined to carry out their duties and the ritual in a faultless stylo . The painstaking endeavours of Bro . Spice I . P . M . Preceptor has created an enthusiasm in the Lodge , and all the Officers feel their working must excel .

The business before the Mother Lodge for next Monday was rehearsed . As there are two candidates for initiation , the W . M . decided to rehearse the ceremony in plural , Bros . Hattersley a , nd Done being the candidates . The ceremony of passing was rehearsed , after which Bro . Pitt P . M ., that grand old man of Freemasonry , in an energetic manner rehearsed the first two sections . This was the Preceptor ' s opportunity , and the Brethren felt how fortunate they were in having a tutor with such a splendid memory .

THE Countess Russell , who has recently achieved considerable success with the provincial tour of " The Runaway Girl , " is now appearing at the Tivoli Blusic Hall . o o o Bro . George Burgess , of the Boyal Blusic Hall , Holborn , will take his eighth annual benefit next Tuesday week , 13 th inst ., when a whole host of the profession have promised to appear .

We cannot let the opportunity pass without remarking how well the Brethren acquitted themselves , thereby pointing out that the painstaking efforts of the worthy Preceptor have borne fruit .

Bro . Green , of the Star Lodge , was elected a member , and Bro . J . H . Gumming appointed to act as W . BL at the next weekly meeting . Bro . Arthur Williams gave notice of motion that he would ask for the sum of one guinea from the funds , to be sent to the Refugees' Fund at the Cape .

The W . BL rehearsed the ceremony of initiation , Bro . R . Young candidate . Bro . F . Langford was examined and entrusted , the Lodge was opened in the second degree , and the ceremony of passing was rehearsed . This being only the third meeting of the Lodge we were glad to note how well it was attended ; it should become one of the most popular schools for members of the Craft . Bro . Webster was elected W . M . for the following Wednesday .

THE Countess Russell , who has recently achieved considerable success with the provincial tour of " The Runaway Girl , " is now appearing at the Tivoli Blusic Hall . o o o Bro . George Burgess , of the Boyal Blusic Hall , Holborn , will take his eighth annual benefit next Tuesday week , 13 th inst ., when a whole host of the profession have promised to appear .
