REPORTS OF MEETINGS .

CKAFT : METROPOLITAN .

We shall be pleased to receive particulars of Masonic meetings for insertion in our columns , and where desired will endeavour to send a representative , to report Lodge or other proceedings .

LODGE OF PRUDENT BRETHREN , No . 145 . ON Tuesday , 23 rd ult ., Bro . T . P . Warwick was installed as the Worshipful Blaster of this Lodge , which has for its motto , " Caritas , Justitia , Prudentia " It is a fine Lodge to be the Master of , as it possesses a record of a century and a quarter , and Bro . Warwick is its 126 th chief Officer , says the

" City Press . " For thirty-one years it has had a Royal Arch Chapter attached to it , a Chapter which is very successful—like the Lodge—and under its first M . E . Z ., the late Companion JohD Boyd , of Jermyn Street , had as many as seventeen candidates foe exaltation on its first working night . It was under the late Bro . Boyd that the Lodge attained to excellent working . That character has been maintained ever since , and it now can compare favourably with any Lodge iu this respect .

Bro . H . B . Spaul W . M . first initiated Mr . W . P . Armstrong as a Mason , and then performed the installation ceremony , Bro . T . P . Warwick being , of course , the central figure . A handsome jewel of a Past Master was presented to Bro . Spaul , a gift which he acknowledged in very graceful terms .

Before the Lodge closed letters of apology and regret for absence were read by the Secretary from Bro . Alderman Alliston , Bro . Alderman Truscott , the Rev . P . Clernenti-Smith ( rector of St . Anne ' s , Blackfriars ) , Bro . S . White , Bro . G . Rawlinson , Bro . C . H . Harris , and Dr . Duncan . The Brethren afterwards banqueted at the Freemasons' Tavern , and honoured the customary toasts .

The toast of the Worshipful Master was proposed by Bro . Spaul I . P . M ., who said that eleven years had passed since he and the W . M . entered Masonry together in the Lodge . They had gone on in Office , and were known as the twins . They agreed , as their names followed alphabetically , that he ( Bro . Spaul ) should take precedence of Bro . Warwick . Bro . W arwick started now on a year of glory , and he hoped it would be a year of glory for the Lodge , with plenty of prosperity and numerous Initiates—good and sound men who would take an interest in Masonry , and occupy Office in the Lodge .

Bro . Warwick , iu acknowledging the toast , said he and Bro . Spaul had walked together not only in Masonry but in charitable circles ; they had been bosom , friends , and would go out of their way to serve each other . He was pleased to occupy the proud position of Master of the Prudent Brethren Lodge , and , if he could do anything in his little way in the next twelve months to further the interests of the Lodge , he would do it with the utmost pleasure .

Bro . Spaul responded to the toast of the Immediate Past Master , and said that , while thinking that in the course of 125 years the Lodge ought to have amassed a large invested fund , he should do his best to bring it into a very flourishing condition .

-BOROUGH LODGE , No . 2589 . THIS Lodge has not been constituted more than five years , and during that short period it has drawn to its ranks adherents who represent the leading professions and trading interests in Southwark and Newington . Particular interest centred in the Installation on Wednesday , 17 th ult ., of

Bro . James A . Cannon , in that he bears a name honoured in Newington , and , moreover , associated—in the person of his father—in the local life of the parish . There was a large muster of members and of visitors at the ceremony , which took place in the Lodge Room of the Bridge House Hotel , London Bridge .

The retiring Worshipful Master Bro . Henry W . Bulpitt was unfortunately laid aside by an attack of influenza , and his position was filled by Bro . Roots P . M ., who also undertook the duties of Installing Master . In addition to the installation , there was the initiation of a candidate and

the passing of a second , the ceremony of the latter being conducted by Bro . A . Atkins P . M . A handsome Past Master ' s jewel had been purchased for Bro . Bulpitt , as a mark of the Lodge ' s appreciation of his year's services . The Officers of the Lodge were deputed to wait upon him and make the presentation .

. The installation banquet subsequently held was a recherche function , and at its conclusion the Loyal toasts were given from the chair , and honoured with enthusiasm . Bro . A . Atkins followed with the health of the Worshipful Master , paying a tribute to the assiduity with which Bro . Cannon had entered into the instructional duties so necessary for a proficient discharge of the Master ' s functions . He predicted the Lodge was in for a year ' s good work .

The W . M . replied , remarking that ever since the Borough Lodge had been founded be had thrown , himself heart and souL into its affairs . He felt so much interest in it that the more work they gave him the better he would be pleased . The W . M . gave the Visitors , and Bro . Mullens W . M . of the Dagmar Lodge , in acknowledgment , congratulated , as an old friend of his family , the W . M . on his attainment to the chair .

Bro . W . G . Cannon , who was also called upon to respond , expressed in feeling terms his pride at seeing his eldest sou iu the chair of the Lodge . It seemed only a fevv month * ago that he initiated his two sons in the Dagmar Lodge , and that evening ' s event was something unique in the history of his family . The Treasurer and Secretary was proposed from the chair , and Bro . Hattersley , replying for tbe former , congratulated the Lodge on the satisfactory state of the finances .

Bro . O'Dea Secretary reminded tne company that their present W . M . started in the new Lodge as I . G ., and it was a matter of pride that he had reached the chair . They commenced the Lodge with nine members , and now had forty-two on the roll , which , with a good balance at the bank , was an oxcellent record .
