SUPREME GRAND CHAPTER
npHE Quarterly Meeting of Grand Chapter of Royal Arch JL Masons of England was held on Wednesday evening , at Freemasons' Hall . The three chairs of Grand Principals were occupied byComps . Col . R . Townley Caldwell , Thomas Fenn , and W . E . Brymer , M . P . Comps . E . Letchworth and the Rev . W . Gardiner were the two Scribes , and Comps . Sir
Joseph C . Dimsdale , Admiral St . Clair , and Baron de Ferrieres , the three Sojourners . Sir G . D . Harris President of the Committee of General Purposes , and Comp . Frank Richardson Grand Director of Ceremonies , were among the other active Officers present . There was a full attendance of Past Grand Officers .
On the motion of Sir George David Harris , seconded by Comp . Frank Richardson , the Report of the Committee of General Purposes , as published in last week's issue of the FREEMASON ' CHRONICLE was taken as read , and ordered to be received and entered on the minutes , and on motions respectively made and seconded by the same Companions , each recommendation of the Committee specified in that Report was put to Grand Chapter , and carried unanimously .
BEADON CHAPTER , No . 619 . rriHE installation meeting took place at Anderfcon's Hotel , Fleet Street , on JL Thursday , 18 th . ult . The Chapter is a comparatively old-established one , its Charter , which bears the names of Lord Zetland and the Marauis of
Ripon , being dated 6 th May 1868 . It originally met at the celebrated picturesque , but now departed , old Greyhound , at Dulwich , of Dickens' fame . It thence removed to the city , with which it has been associated for many years . Comp . George Bice Bolton P . Z . was for a third time installed as M . E . Z ., the Installing Principai being Comp . W . S . Whitaker P . Z . of the Carnarvon
Chapter . Comp . Bolton has held numerous offices , and gained many honours in Freemasonry , while ho is a generous supporter of the several Charitable Institutions of the Craft . 3 . U selection for a third period was by the unanimous vote of the Chapter . The I . P . Z . was the recipient of a handsome and valuable jewel as a mark of the esteem and regard of the Chapter . A banquet was subsequently held .
ECLECTIC CHAPTER , No . 1201 . A CONVOC VTI 0 N was held at Freemasons' Hall , Great Queen Street , on Monday , 29 th ult . Comp . Mander P . Z . ( in the unavoidable absence of Comp . Jourden M . E . Z . ) presided , supported by Comps . Anley P . Z . as H ., F . Kebbell J ., Leach Barrett acting Scribe E ., Britton Scribe N ., P ^ ide H . acting P . S , Letts Assist . S ., Surridge P . Z ., Anley sen . P . Z ., H . Willsmer , and others , Visitor Comp . U . B . Ladler .
A Brother was exalted to the R . A . degree in a very excellent manner by Comp . Mander . The election of Officer- ) took place , and resulted in the following appointments : Comp * . Reside M . R . SHURMUR CHAPTER , No . 2374 . I CONVOCATION of this Chapter was held on Thursday , 25 th ult ., at the _ OL Hoya , l Forest Hotel , Chingford , which was presided over by Oomp . William Gower P . Prov . G . Kes ; . M . K . Z . He was assisted by Comps . C . H . Bestow H ., Orlton Cooper J ., James Clark S . E ., Percy Trickett S . N ., W . T . Logg P . S ., M . Bleick and J . Hamilton Assistants , C . J . Francis , W . H . Graveley , E . C . Holmes , W . W . West 1662 J . Temple , W . Inch . & c .
The Chapter having been opened , the Companions were admitted , and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was then taken for Bro . G . J . Stubbings , of the Shurmur Lodge , who was approved and regularly exalted to the Supreme Degree . The ceremony was admirably carried out by Comp . Gower and his Officers . Comp . E . C . Holmes was admitted as a pining member , n . nd appointed Organist of the Chapter .
Comp . Bestow , in the absence of Comp . Johnson I . P . Z ., presented a very handsome P . Z . ' s jewel to Comp . Gower , to mark the respect and appreciation by the Companions of the services rendered during his first year of office . As previously explained Comp . Gower , owing to certain unforseen circumstances ,
is now occupying the First Principal ' s chair for a second twelve months . Comp . Gower suitably returned thanks for the jewel , and hoped to always merit the confidence of the Chapter . Certain Officers , who were unable to be present at the installation meeting , were invested with the collars of their respective positions .
Ihe Exaltee of the evening , Comp . Stubbings , proposed his son as a candidate for the Order at the next meeting . No further business being before the Chapter it was duly closed and the convocation adjourned . The Companions subsequently dined together .
Bro . E . M . Hine , who for the past twenty years has been associated with the Prince Edwin Lodge , No . 125 , Hythe , was recently presented with a gold watch in recognition of the many services he has rendered to the Craft . The presentation was made by the Worshipful Master Bro . I . H . Brooke .
